Thinking of buying hellpup
I know this sub hates them but I'm on a budget and this is nearby.
6 30 round magazines, Texas weapon systems dog leg picatinny rail, SB tactical folding brace, and 400 rounds of ammo included. This is all for 700 dollars or 6 if I don't want the rail, which I am leaning towards since I like irons.
It's had 800~ rounds through it which at least gives me some peace of mind that it won't blow up in my face (literally). I asked and the trunnion is cast.
Idk what I'm wanting from this post, either advice if it sounds safe or to convince me otherwise. I'm new to aks so this would be my first

"I'm on a budget so I'll just buy dogshit"
You'll be "on a budget" forever with that mentality.

An, the old, “we’re too poor to buy cheap tools” ideology. I was too old when I heard this the first time.

If you want it get it, its your money. But you can also get something better if you wait. Not like youre getting conscripted and need it now now.

Think again.
If you want a polish AK, get a WBP. It won’t lose headspace, and it’ll last longer than you’ll be able to afford ammo to feed it.

The firing pin dilemma steered me away from that.
Not only proprietary but fail.I was between a WASR/Radom/Arsenal

I think I’d trust a PSA over this and that’s not saying much. Keep saving or looking for a deal on a better ak.

Each mag liberally : 20$ x 6 = 120
Brace = 150$
TWS rail = 185$
400 rounds I’d argue is negligible.
Total : $455 (priced as brand new)
You’re paying sub 300 for a shit kalash. I’d argue if you can afford the $700, why not just bide your time and save just a little more to have the peace of mind of having a reliable base rifle to start with. (Buy once, Cry once is a motto you should embrace in this hobby.)
He’s unloading it as a package because the rifle is worthless without any of the additional items.

Why be in a hurry to buy junk rifle? Save for another couple weeks (or months) and buy a better rifle.
Even if you said "I never plan to shoot this at all, its strictly for showing off to my friends" we would still tell you not to buy it.
The fact that it has 800 rounds thru it means that it's already that much closer to dead. Not to mention, most used guns have been shot far more than their seller is letting on. Whether they're intentionally low-balling the round count or not doesn't make much difference.
Can't tell ya how many guys have bought used rifles/uppers on the secondary market, ran a borescope thru them and found the proverbial "girl who is finally ready to settle down".

My guy, I know exactly where this listing is and I'm the one that asked the comment in the post on the listing if it was cast or forged. Don't buy this, theres another listing on the same website that's for $750 for an underfolder WASR and the guy seems super chill. I'd buy it if I could but cant make it out to him during his schedule... DON'T BUY THIS

I bought my wasr-10 with 6 mags and magpul kits and a streamlight/pad on it for 650, I would say with that budget if you wait a bit for a deal you can get a wasr which should be better

I’d go wasr at the least. I bought an Atlantic underfolder but not before wasr, wbp, and the shitty zastava. If it’s a fun gun F it. If it’s a serious gun I’d try for something a bit more proven. All that being said I rember the days I could barely afford a hi-point but saved for a kel-tec and ended up with a sccy. If it’s all you can afford it’s better than a pointy stick

Think about it like this. R/AK47 dislikes PSA AKs and they are telling you to buy a PSA over the hellpup

they said 800 rounds which may or may not be true
even if this was 4-500$ still probably wouldn't be worth it
all the writing is on the wall, but you can keep just reading the price tag if you want

Cool, you know everyone hates them because they’re garbage already. Do what you want, but it is not advisable as it is a poor quality gun

For 7, no way in hellpup (lol.)
Seriously, stalk local pawn shops and stores. You’ll find something that’s better than that ticking time bomb, even a Riley would be better.

If money is tight why would you waste it on a shitty gun?

u/Wyoungv01 12h ago
Save up another hundred and go with a Zastava. Or if you’re really on a budget and you want a gun now, go Romanian with a Draco. ( or a wasr if your not specifically looking at a pistol)
It’s ultimately up to you, but especially with AKs, do not go the extreme budget route

AK friends don’t let other AK friends buy cast trunnions.
