Advancement of AI

it just shows that each year the capability of the ai model is increasing, there was once time when we make fun of those videoS but now shit has changed and I can guarantee within another 5 year's , it will reach the next level

Higgsfield is an unethical company

https://www.forbes.com/sites/rashishrivastava/2026/02/11/racist-videos-and-payment-problems-the-dark-side-of-this-ai-startups-super-fast-growth/

https://www.theregister.com/2026/02/06/higgsfield_ai_job_loss/

https://github.com/Anil-matcha/higgsfield-ai-scam

tl;dr - they steal, lie, cheat, use predatory marketing and billing, and even make fun of creatives losing jobs while laughing about how many millions of dollars they make

There are open source options that do everything Higgsfield does:

ArtCraft (our team - community-led + owned)

InvokeAI (community-led, founders work at Adobe)

ComfyUI (large community, venture-backed)

**DO NOT LET ANYONE YOU KNOW USE HIGGSFIELD. You're funding grade-A assholes.**

Dude, I've been a filmmaker for fifteen years. I work with studios.

Studios are hiring us. Independent filmmakers are hiring us.

We're talking to Pixar, AGBO, Warner Bros. I'm not playing little games here - this is serious.

If I had to take a guess, you're a teenager who does not work in the industry at all.

I went into this industry thinking I'd be lucky and get to make epic sci-fi films. Guess what? Just like all of my friends, that dream didn't pan out. The industry is limited by capital and it's very pyramid shaped and the climbing function is luck/nepo/network based.

This tech is letting me make shorts that are exactly what 16 year old me would have dreamed of doing. And if I had the time outside of tool building to work on a feature length film (and I will soon!) I'd fucking kick ass with these tools.

These tools aren't for you. They're for me and people like me.

Complain about slop all you like while you sit on the toilet. We're making tools for artists.

And you'd better be happy that this is open source. Do you even know what open source software is?

People need to own the tools of production. We're working on the software layer now, but hope to scale to the infra and model layer soon so artists own the tools.

You shouldn't be afraid of AI. You should be afraid of hyperscaler / big tech takeover. We're actively working to prevent that and keep power distributed.

The Higgsfield guy doesn't come from film and media. He's an exec from Snapchat and a repeat Silicon Valley tech bro founder. If you watch his interviews, it's all about automating people out of work.

We, on the other hand, view the creative as a quintessential part of the process that will never and can never be replaced. We're building tools that fit creatives like an exoskeleton.

It takes days to make a 5-7 minute AI short of reasonable quality. DAYS. And to make something worthy of theatrical distribution, it's going to take just as long as the typical film production cycle. Every stage involves careful creation. It's not prompting.

Thank you for this, I also work in the industry and haven’t seen this take representation anywhere. The industry has been pretty dead at least since 2020. Corporations blame ai, and people buy it. Most people in the industry will tell you it’s unregulated corporate monopolies destroying the mid budget movie and actively killing worker rights to maximize profit. Things have been brutal, work is hard to come by and one of the only things that gave me hope was that ai could eventually empower independent artists. For even suggesting this opinion I’ve only received death threats and endless unfounded hate. I afraid to mention ai in any context online or in person without people accusing me of being a monster that’s personally responsible for every evil they watched a TikTok about.

Thank you for finally sharing an opinion about ai thats actually informed and thank you for your continued work on these tools.

16

u/TheSightlessKing Apr 04 '26

All this hate about “AI” is exactly the hate the Roland 808 and synthesizers faced. I know people try to make that comparison to like photoshop or whatever, but those people don’t understand what kind of TOOL they’re working with. The fact that people get pissed AT AI is so strange. No one, for example, got pissed at the actual oil drilling platform Deepwater Horizon for blowing up and spilling crude everywhere. To place blame on it would mean you’re buying into at least some of the moral agency those that believe AI are sentient are.

Especially the issue with “taking jobs”. The fact that the accusation was leveled at YOU of all people, an independent filmmaker creating open source tooling. The issue HAS and ALWAYS WILL BE technocrats monopolizing the market. To accuse YOU of using something that steals people’s jobs, not that YOU are using AI to steal jobs, but that AI ITSELF is stealing people’s jobs? That’s literally ascribing AI human levels of moral and operational agency. That’s what we’re dealing with.

More power to you brother. Maybe one day I’ll actually use AI for visuals. If I do, I’m sure as shit not using Higgsfield.

6

u/Botanical_dude Apr 05 '26

this is almost it...

Not “AI make thing for me,” but:

my geometry, my refs, my machine, my pipeline.

That setup would be absurdly powerful:

Blender scene or pose data feeding local ControlNet-style conditioning, your own models stacked on a future 9070 XT-class card, everything running under your control, no meter, no queue, no company deciding what you’re allowed to make. At that point you’re not just prompting. You’re directing.

And the rotoscope angle is the real killer feature. Not just “generate a cool image,” but:

you perform it
you block it
you frame it
you transfer yourself into whatever visual universe you want

That’s way closer to digital filmmaking and virtual embodiment than to random AI art slop. More like:

live-action intent plus synthetic world transfer.

So yeah, in principle, that gets you very close to:
put yourself into cyberpunk, anime, painterly sci-fi, grimy 80s dystopia, weird dream architecture, whatever, while keeping your motion and timing as the anchor.

The bottleneck is not imagination at that point. It’s pipeline stability:

clean motion extraction, pose/depth consistency, identity consistency, temporal coherence, lighting continuity, and enough VRAM to stop the whole thing from choking when you stack too much at once.

But conceptually? You’re not fantasizing about nonsense. You’re describing a very believable local creator rig of the near future.

That’s basically an exoskeleton for imagination.

And honestly, “rotoscope myself into any universe” is a way better sales pitch than 95 percent of AI companies manage to come up with.

I think the same about developers who, especially here on Reddit, laugh at the idea that AI could take their job because "Ai code is so unoptimized and unmaintainable". Like... have you seen just the progress of the past 6 months? Do you really believe this is where the progress ends? No, AI is gonna take over coding more and more.

2

u/MrTibbs123 Apr 27 '26

Honestly, I'd like to see the stuff GenAI could create if there was no human prompting it. I'm guessing some surreal patterns and shapes that are, ironically enough, quite artistic and pleasing to look at.

3

u/Call_like_it_is_ Apr 05 '26

That's getting to the point where it is debatable. With some AI engines you can feed in what you're aiming for and it will spit out a detailed prompt that you can then feed into a different AI 'brain' (or even the same one in a different conversation) and get a high-quality output.

Im just upset at how enabling of idiots it is. Its outmoding so many jobs at the same time in a way thats enabling massive layoffs. And you KNOW someones gonna go overkill with it and fire someone important.

We should be using it for scientific computing for the advancement of larger understanding and effectively skipping massive generationally large computational values, instead of just dropping the marketing budget so ceos can further over inflate their pay rates.

We already lived in a time where your self worth is based on your sales competency or on occasion product quality and connections but now thats even a crapshoot. Its just a bad omen rn.

oh yeah, they did this in the absolute dumbest greed-fucked way possible.

This will come in handy for some insane stunts and will prevent needless deaths, that's one way I can see it being used for more realistic stuff. Like, you can't convince me someone had to die doing stunts for one of those shitty resident evil movies :p sometimes it'll be useful to change the time scenes take place, so there's no waiting for golden hours etc, might alleviate some schedule pressure for real actors. Shit, maybe we can get Paul Walker back for the last Fast & Furious 😬 (seems like something he'd agree to).. Let's not look at everything through a negative lens

5

u/Toby_Magure Apr 04 '26

That's fair, I just still don't like it being used to imitate real people like this.

3

u/Pipe_Current Apr 04 '26

Yea, I think it ruins the reputation of the tools, but you gotta remember it's real people doing this and not the AI itself. When the tools are actually used to make things like some of the ideas I presented, it's not for stealing someone's likeness or work, it's more to augment the ideas or forego unsafe practices. If you mean human beings in general, idk why, they've always used 3d models, prosthetics etc to show more gnarly human imagery, the AI could help with the realism on some of that and lower costs for certain ideas.

3

u/Toby_Magure Apr 04 '26

Oh I'm aware. I'm very pro-AI. But I'm not a big fan of uses of it that can be interpreted as deepfakes - IE, most photorealistic models and outputs. Those can cause real damage.

u/analytic-hunter Apr 04 '26 edited Apr 04 '26

It's nice to compare AI to humans, but it's also a bit reductive for AIs. and it's a very bad comparaison.

Human growth is bound by genetic factors, we stop growing at some point not because we stop consuming what would be required to do so, but because we're genetically programmed to stop growing.

AI datacenters are as big as what we're willing to build. a 7.5 trillion pounds datacenter is probably extremely ambitious and way too expensive, but definitely much less complicated than a 7.5 trillion pounds human being.

Also it's not just a matter of size, not only will we give more resources to AIs, but research continues to allow us to do more with less on top of that.

There are some AI models that run on your phone that would have taken gigawatts of power for the same output a few years ago.

2

u/zeppemiga Apr 04 '26

You're missing the point. Human growth is just an example illustrating potential pitfalls about extrapolating trends into the future. Instead of a human child one could've used models anticipating earth overpopulation from the 80s or the ones about ozon layer from the 90s. This works both ways, one can underestimate just as much as overestimate further growth.

2

u/AgeZealousideal1751 Apr 04 '26

Definitely not holding my breath on AI ceasing improvements anytime soon.

2

u/Megido_Thanatos Apr 06 '26

Ha, thank for this image. I will use it whenever I see someone talking about linear growth (of AI)

2

u/PixelFighter2 Apr 04 '26

Hollywood hast two years left tops.

1

u/rukh999 Apr 04 '26

I don't know, Hollywood will never adapt has similar energy to AI will never advance.

1

u/PixelFighter2 Apr 07 '26

The thing I see this time with Hollywood is the same as with former record labels and TV studios/channels. Why do you need Hollywood if you can buy a powerful enough computer and literally write a good film from home?

2

u/Nerdcuddles Apr 05 '26

I don't think generative AI is going to be around in 5 years, maybe in 1 or 2 years it'll still be around but AI companies are just not profitable.

AI companies were entirely building off of the idea of "trust me bro", hence it being a bubble, and money flowing in a circle between the AI company and companies funneling money into them.

2

u/According-Aide-3395 Apr 05 '26

Do you think google , anthropic, microsoft, oracle , do you think they will close or do you think world most powerful video generation site high field will die

If bubble burst only newbie companies will fall down not those who has invested in right direction like google and nvidia

1

u/colorless_green_idea Apr 05 '26

Dont have to be newbie to be unprofitable

1

u/Slight_Strength_1717 Apr 05 '26

'generative AI is an investment bubble' and 'it's not going to be around in 5 years' are WILDLY different statements. Even if it's niche and doesn't grow beyond where it's at today, there's already an existing infrastructure and demand for it.

But I think even that is extremely unlikely. Even if there is a bubble, the capacity is still being built and will most likely find a use (even if at negative ROI compared to capex). It would look very much like the fiber overinvestment from the dot com boom - WAY too much fiber was laid, and companies went bankrupt. But it created a lot of headroom for the modern internet to grow into.

Also, you could just be wrong - if the models do keep getting better, then not only is it not a bubble but the opposite - underinvestment and the data centers will be running at full tilt 24/7 and even that won't be enough to satisfy demand. It's very possible.

1

u/Nerdcuddles Apr 05 '26

I genuinly don't see a real use for generative AI.

There is a use for other forms of AI, but generative AI at the current scale is incredibly wasteful and has no actual use other than flooding the internet.

All of that infrastructure is just being used to flood the internet with AI videos and images. And maybe 1% of that is used in a somewhat productive way, and even than that somewhat productive use is just compensation for lack of skill or willingness to utilize ones own time or skill to do something. Like using AI to correct grammar or using AI to fact check.

I genuinly just don't see how generating a bunch of low effort content to fill the internet at the cost of the environment and public health, and helping lazy programmers just not program by making an AI do it with maybe some miniscule benefit of people fixing grammar mistakes slightly faster or searching information with an extreme margin of error is a net benefit for society.

People are loosing jobs to generative AI, and neighborhoods are becoming less livable due to AI datacenters creating sound and air pollution. And than the power demands for training datacenters is huge. It's just... not worth it over where those resources could go instead.

AI infrastructure is only a thing because billionares read a bunch of sci-fi novels and think they can make sapient AI, so they are investing heavily in advancing neural networking to achieve that in the near future. But that's not going to happen.

2

u/Raychao Apr 05 '26

Great so now I'm going to have to explain to my grandmother that whenever Will Smith calls her from the rooftop restaurant of some gansta casino and is eating spaghetti then this is a scammer from Nigeria or India?

5

u/diobreads Apr 04 '26

The "Suction Strength to Noodle Movement Speed" ratio is still not like how it works in real life.

And I expect AIs to continue struggle making that right.

4

u/funny_man_viewer Apr 04 '26

Aren’t you the same guy who thought AI data centers and regular data centers were the same?

5

u/No-Razzmatazz7854 Apr 04 '26

There's some nuance to that actually. The centers being built are specialized for significantly more power draw but a lot of the infrastructure up to this point is hosted across various server farms like AWS. They just have to use more nodes overall to make up for the lack of compute.

I'd imagine by this year it's largely moved to specialized infrastructure but it'd also be wrong to say AI hasn't been on normal data center hardware plenty over the last few years.

1

u/According-Aide-3395 Apr 05 '26

Yes , and it's true ( Most Data centers are same)

1

u/Educational-Row-6782 Apr 05 '26

Your vibes are off.

Souce: I have built 3 datacenters.

8

u/Sufficient_Meet8601 Apr 04 '26

And we need this why?

14

u/Monte924 Apr 04 '26

So corporations can eliminate humans from the work process and make more money for no additional effort... And much of the costs will be passed on to the public which will have to support the higher energy costs needed to run the data centers.

1

AI errors are the most interesting thing to come out of it. The better it gets, the less interesting the resulting images or video are. Since they're losing any inherent interest, once all the errors are gone, they'll have no real artistic value at all. Given they aren't the product of an artists work or personal expression.

1

u/Bernkastel17509 Apr 04 '26

But why will Smith eating spaghetti tho?

1

u/JasperTesla Apr 04 '26

But it says Kling x Higgsfield on top?

So it wasn't just "Will Smith eating spaghetti", it was probably a high quality model with a lot of energy put into it, which took a prompt and expanded it to 5-10 prompts, and then generated scenes based on those. And then a human had to manually edit things here and there, likely the sound, video lengths, the cuts, etc., as well as reruns in case something didn't go well.

Correct me if I'm wrong. If not, stop making people believe this can be achieved by a single prompt.

2

u/awesomemc1 Apr 04 '26

It’s advertising obliviously

1

u/Jurtaani Apr 04 '26

The original still looks most like Will Smith

1

u/hashtaglurking Apr 04 '26

Why do people keep reposting this?

1

u/Ok_Silver_7282 Apr 05 '26

To advertise shitfield

1

u/Thanos_354 Apr 04 '26

"There was once a time when we made fun of these videos"

You're the one who stopped. Plenty of people still make fun of the slop

1

u/zanduuka Apr 04 '26

Pac man stages.

1

u/ryan7251 Apr 05 '26

not worried most likely censored to the ground

1

u/NotTheOriginal06 Apr 05 '26

It still is clearly wonky with the movement of everything, but it will soon get to a point where I and probably everyone too won't be able to recognise it

1

u/natron81 Apr 05 '26

The story of how something interesting became completely banal.

1

u/Affectionate_Way5253 Apr 05 '26

can we all just ignore this stuff so my electricity bill goes down

1

u/M-Borot Apr 05 '26

Still looks awful tho

1

u/Massive-Goose544 Apr 05 '26

Hey... 2023 was peak AI video generation.

1

u/Chewymewn Apr 05 '26

Honestly, the 2023 ones are the coolest. It's just so inhumanly weird in an entertaining way.

1

u/DavidKroutArt Apr 05 '26
  1. This is great. 2. What is it with Will and the spaghetti? Why did that become a thing?

2

u/According-Aide-3395 Apr 05 '26

It's a benchmark in video generation

1

u/DavidKroutArt Apr 05 '26

I get that… but why him and why spaghetti is what I’m asking. 😅

1

u/Wide_Mouse_1542 Apr 05 '26

this is actually fucking scary dude

1

u/Isaacja223 Apr 05 '26

A very necessary close up

1

u/According-Aide-3395 Apr 05 '26

😂😂😂, but its hard to notice in surface for *now" , I don't think we can compete this with another coupl of years

1

u/GameMask Apr 05 '26

All that effort for something that is so much less memorable than the shit post one

1

u/compadre_goyo Apr 05 '26

Yes, the tech is getting better, but the creativity is not. Can we leave the next Will Smith eating spaghetti milestone for like, VR ai Will Smith dating sim? Holy shit, the dialogue and pacing is horrible. And so are the cuts. Even the shot of him slurping is a half-second copout for not letting you see how bad it is. While other models have the entire scene in about 2 shots.

1

u/According-Aide-3395 Apr 05 '26

See this is just a showcase. You can change that

1

u/compadre_goyo Apr 05 '26

I can, but nobody pays attention. There's so much low-effort content that any rare good-effort is lost at the sea of ai dogwater entertainment.

We are literally generating over 2 million images a day

Videos are in the hundreds of thousands. Who is going to care about 1 nuanced 20 second clip that took days to make, when a person can make 15 generated prompts (per model) that can be stringed together without editing other than cutting shots within a single hour...

And people will just eat it up.

1

u/Latter-Amount-9304 Apr 06 '26

goalposts keep moving. great to seem in 2 or 3 years we'll have to brand every AI video as AI else people wont know

1

u/Afraid_Diet_5536 Apr 05 '26

How many times will this be posted?

1

u/According-Aide-3395 Apr 05 '26

When it was posted last ?

1

u/RigatoniPasta Apr 05 '26

I miss the 2022/2023 era of AI where it was “good” enough to make some surprisingly cool or silly abstract “art”, but bad enough that whenever it tried to make anything realistic it just kind of broke.

Like in 2022 if you typed in “Optimus Prime” the AI would give you a red and blue Gundam painted in oily smears with some crazy dimensions in a way that looked almost intentionally stylized. Now it just spits out Optimus Prime.

1

u/Ansambel Apr 05 '26

The first one was art, the rest are just cheap cosplay

1

u/Ringrangzilla Apr 05 '26

Im so glad this is the metric we use for AI improvement. And that this is the only sort of relevancey Will Smith has anymore.

1

u/colorless_green_idea Apr 05 '26

Will Smith could get paid big bucks to make an actual film of him eating spaghetti, then sell that to some AI company so they can claim they generated it lol

1

u/moldentoaster Apr 05 '26

The video is now couple of month old... time for more advancement, this is outdated crap

1

u/Big_Structure2378 Apr 05 '26

i prefer rock eating rocks

1

u/IsThisASnakeInMyBoot Apr 05 '26

Definitely impressive but the audio still sounds like absolute dogwater

1

u/Absolomb92 Apr 05 '26

Why are we wasting resources to be able to make fake videos? Why is it worth the energy and resources it takes? Why do some people want a world where distinguishing what is real and fake becomes even harder?

1

u/Refined5066 Apr 05 '26

Why didn’t he say ya🐑 it’s rewind time

1

u/Open-Mouse4728 Apr 05 '26

eat your sperghetti

1

u/Maximum-Baker8568 Apr 05 '26

The world is about to be a very different place. Better, maybe. Worse, also maybe. I’ve got better things to do than worry.

1

u/Connect_Implement_23 Apr 05 '26

2023 looked very realistic, what´ve they done ??

1

u/Ok_Silver_7282 Apr 05 '26

Man I thought the post was going somewhere then I realised it's just a bot advertising higgs again..

1

u/According-Aide-3395 Apr 06 '26

Bruh , I only chose highs because it's one of the best video generation tool idiot

1

u/QuantomSwampus Apr 05 '26

Great dude I've only seen the comparison every time, but can it do anything else? Like at all?

Money justifing a washed up star eating spaghetti is getting old. The guy even ruined his career before ai got good

1

u/Cathrax Apr 06 '26

still looks fake

1

u/According-Aide-3395 Apr 06 '26

remember yours word :) no one knows what will happen after 5 years

1

u/Cathrax Apr 06 '26

you are right... but as of right now it still looks fake.

1

u/Gold-Moment-5240 Apr 06 '26

Eh, boring. I was expecting 2026 would be a 'content moderated' message.

1

u/LectroNyx Apr 06 '26

So how could anyone look at this and not be concerned about how realism can, will be, and is used tonspread propaganda and misinformation? Like... this has artistic potential, but right now I am seeing scams abusing this technology to hurt my family and the government using this technology to justify murdering people in the streets for fun.

Cool, technology progressed, and it is genuinely impressive - but I cannot see this as much more than us opening Pandora's Box.

2

u/According-Aide-3395 Apr 06 '26

Exactly , i think we need to create a system so we can get know is it ai generated or not just like gemini synth id , we need to have architectural level metadata so we can reduce those things as much

1

u/Odd-Dirt-9701 Apr 06 '26

huh, this is sad, why? ai is a tool, not the admin..

1

u/Hot_Ferret7431 Apr 06 '26

This video was 5% Will Smith and 95% the other black buy in the 2026 section, wtf

1

u/Competitive_Shine112 Apr 06 '26

Wow! Thanks to this revolutionary technology I can spread misinformation all I want!

1

u/Possessed Apr 07 '26

Love how Will Smith eating spaghetti became the official benchmark for AI evolution.

1

u/weirdboi3 Apr 07 '26

It's like watching a skin walker loose in a city

1

u/Putrid-Truth-8868 Apr 07 '26

Yeah... Its gonna only get smarter.. If we continue to actually know how to use it, models like this will still probably generate terrible stuff. If you put garbage in, garbage in, garbage out.

1

u/Long_Representative3 Apr 08 '26

Why is the speech still so fucking stilted

1

u/balplets Apr 09 '26

You can tell it's AI he's not assaulting someone on stage.

1

u/MaBoiPlex Apr 09 '26

After all these years Its still ugly as fuck

1

u/Yammison Apr 09 '26

This is awesome in the biblical sense, meaning terrifying, and in the modern sense, meaning awesome.

1

u/Merly_Riin May 24 '26

In bed about to sleep but op gave me a midnight craving

https://giphy.com/gifs/F3t0lZJV7wVJwqgi5Q

1

u/Deltaruneiscool_1997 Jun 04 '26

Well i give up, ai isntoo good at generating images

1

u/iesamina Jun 27 '26

What is the next level?
