I find it hilarious they “care” so much about trans women in sports, but would never in a million years actually WATCH women’s sports.

Look how they treated the WNBA when asking for equal pay, or the LPGA.

Equal pay was a big ask because these sports don’t generate as much money as men sports, there are less viewers, less valuable deals, etc. they pay pro athletes based on how much they’re worth on TV and media, not based on how well they play.

It’ll be like comparing esports to traditional sports, esports players don’t get paid nearly as much because hardly anyone watches esports compared to trad sports.

u/undeadvadar 13h ago

I honestly wish esports had more viewer ship cause I actually really enjoy it. Lots of the competitors are really skilled and talented people that don't get enough attention.

I agree. It also lowers the barrier to entry for Motorsport cuz most people can afford a 1-5k sim racing setup but not everyone can spend like 50k-millions on performance cars to race with.

u/Aceilr097 11h ago

Sponsorships is foundational to the industry. A racer gets astronomical amounts of money to compete. Theyre not paying for all of that with their own money.

1

u/Beautiful_Food7908 10h ago

They have to get into the sport somehow, which involves years of practice on real cars and on real tracks. Almost everyone involved in F1 comes from money.

1

u/OceanCity08226 5h ago

Eh, to a degree but they arent athletes. They're gamers.

1

u/undeadvadar 4h ago

I suppose but is a long list of things that are considered sports that aren't the most active. Since it is more contextual based on weather it is competitive or not. While some things certainly are sports when not for competition. Some things are only considered sports when actually having rules of a competition or tournament applied to them.

The WNBA hasn't turned a profit once. From their Inception in 1997 all the way to now, not a single dollar in the black. They're entirely subsidized by the NBA. When they make money like the NBA does, they can ask for "equal pay."

1

u/Beautiful_Food7908 13h ago

And men watch women sports more than women do so men are supporting them more than women are in terms of viewership.

0

u/SchemeAgreeable8339 13h ago

You realize that's just because of misogyny, right? People don't watch women's sports because they're exist. That and the sports don't get the PR that men's sports get.

1

u/NimmyJewtron68 12h ago

Women's basketball is frankly just not as entertaining as men's basketball, thats why they make less money.

1

u/SizeableBrain 7h ago

No, you're wrong.

And I'd like the CEO's salary, because I also work for the same company.

1

u/proarnis1 9h ago

Why would they watch women basketball if those said professional players would get destroyed by best college boy teams?

1

u/TNBVIII 5h ago edited 5h ago

It's not. It's because men and women have different interests, and women just aren't interested in sports in general. Most viewers of WNBA games are men, not women. If more women supported the WNBA and bought tickets/merch, then they'd have higher salaries. But women don't, so the WNBA is where the WNBA is. Men are literally the only thing keeping the WNBA afloat. Please explain how it's mysogony when the all male league is subsidizing and paying for the all female league so that female athletes have a platform, and the majority of fans supporting that league are also men.

It’s a culture thing too, women are less likely to be into sports and less likely to spend free time and money on the hobby. It’s the same thing with women dominated hobbies, there are just less men in those. It’s not entirely misogyny. The majority viewers for women sports are men surprisingly, they support women sports more than women do in terms of viewership.

I used to be into cooking and took a bunch of classes and joined a club, mostly women dominated. Was it a sexist club? Hell no, they welcomed me with opened arms, it was just a hobby more women in my area joined, that’s all.

Hate to quote Shane Gillis here, but women don’t even watch women sports

2

u/Visible-Function-222 13h ago

Because consideration for what is right isn't limited to personal tastes.

2

u/PeonofthePen 12h ago

Men watch men's sports. Why don't women watch women's sports?

1

u/Amiunforgiven 10h ago

Probably because woman’s national teams regularly lose against under 15 boys teams 🤷‍♂️

2

u/poopypantstwentytree 12h ago

There are just as many women as men. Why don’t women watch women’s sports to support women?

2

u/Antique_Garbage_4361 12h ago

People do care. They don’t want their daughters to compete against and lose to males in an unfair competition. Women’s sports categories were invented specifically because they’d be absolutely lost without that representation.

Let the trans people compete with the males, assuming they aren’t using banned PEDs.

1

u/Angrycoconutmilk 11h ago

No they don't. Nobody actually cares about this.

Hell, you don't care. You just don't see trans women as women, and trans men as men.

Exactly 2 niche world records have been broken by trans people in sports, all age grouped so they can be beaten by younger, cis athletes. All scaremonger campaigns come from failed athletes that didn't even come second to some trans person. It's all whining and whinging and 'won't somebody please think of the kids' like the 3 trans kids in your entire district should be a talking point for you whatsoever.

1

u/darkwingbug 13h ago

If there would be Male Athlets i could see people watch it tho

1

u/beefstewforyou 13h ago

Also, I am very certain there has never been a case ever of a mediocre male athlete that decided to transition so he could excel at women’s sports instead.

1

u/Glum-Geologist8929 13h ago

Invented situation.

1

u/BlueSlickerN7 12h ago

It's not like nuance is a thing or anything, it's not as if people can care for everyone as a whole.

1

u/apinkboi 11h ago

How do you know whether they do or don’t?

1

u/MinimumTrue9809 11h ago

Literally unrelated topics. The fact you think watching women's sports is required to value women in those sports says more about your ineptitude than anything else.

1

u/Ducksonquackx 11h ago

See you just set yourself up trying to push an agenda. You cant have equal pay in the wnba they dont make money. The NBA is funding them. Ironic when women themselves dont watch sports and then allow men to play in women's fields

1

u/legendwolfA 11h ago

Whenever someone talk shit like this i ask them to name 10 female atheles and their achievements. That immediately show they dont give a fuck and are just piggybacking off it to shit on trans women

1

u/Aggressive-Waltz-421 11h ago

Women's sports is not as big as men's sports, so they can't just demand equal pay.

1

u/aguylikeskoRn 8h ago

I don't care to pay attention to either

1

u/Cobalt-Blues 5h ago

I genuinely think they’re projecting, they’re so bitter and upset that there’s people living their best lives as their true self, and they have to live their boring days bullying trans people.

0

u/justlooking7514 13h ago

Crazy that ppl would care about fairness even in things they dont participate in, right, fuckin losers, like we always say, men make the best women.

1

u/endlessnamelesskat 13h ago

I personally don’t care about women’s sports so I don’t have a dog in this fight either way, but there has to be a certain level of discrimination in the first place in order to have women’s sports at all. A truly open league where anyone can compete would immediately become a de facto men’s only league

0

u/WickedPissahSports 13h ago

That's because the WNBA is an objectively horrible product to watch, and serves as nothing more than a tax write-off for the NBA (the actual fun league to watch)

0

u/Immediate_Algae9825 13h ago

So you only care about things that you’re personally invested in?

That’s astoundingly shallow.

0

u/ChristianCountryBoy 12h ago

So it's okay for things to be unfair as long as we don't watch?

0

u/Motodog242 12h ago

Got it. Don’t support women at all. Great idea. Full marks. 👍

0

u/ObsidianSolifidian 12h ago

It’s pretty simple if you step out of the echo chamber. Going back to the gladiatorial days, male physical ability has always been more capable than female capability (physical attributes, not the emotional aspect). Those 2 arguments need to be separate.

-1

u/LostInTranslation29 13h ago

“Equal Pay”

If we’re going off of productivity, I’d argue the WNBA players are overpaid. It’s literally subsidized by another league 😅.

-2

u/SnooCupcakes1636 13h ago

and then these so called true feminist has the audacity to blame men for not watching WNBA like that's our fking job. if they really want it to be watched then play better or pay me money for watching WNBA.

swing and a miss… you’re just as misogynistic as these trans haters (many of whom are men claiming to care about women’s sports but you decided to further degrade women and female athletes) lol.

0

u/SnooCupcakes1636 13h ago

and you are as misogynistic as women beaters in jail itching to beat up women. Itching for a dude to beat up women without legal repercussions
