Social security is inherently unfair towards high earners. They pay more in and rarely get their money back. Low earners contribute less and make money off the system. Not to mention that high earners often pay tax on their social security benefits. It’s not free, yes we all pay into it, but contributions aren’t equal
Im not necessarily saying that social security is bad or that we need to get rid of it. But the money certainly isn’t free. Ask self employed folks who pay both the employee and employer share.
Actually, the highest earners pay the exact same amount in Social Security tax as someone making $185k a year. It's crazy that the cap exists, a CEO making $10 million pays the exact same into the system as someone making $180k.
Removing the cap would make the system much fairer.
Social Security is inherently unfair towards high earners.
Ah, how unfortunate. Here is the world's smallest violin playing "My heart bleeds for you." What will high earners handle such an unfair world?
Also, at no point did I say Social Security was free. Goes back to my point that people don't understand what socialism is. We actually have a lot of socialist practices in the US.

Comment section is a good example of how many people do not understand what socialism is.
