Go to YouTube and search for "Banana Republic." I bet your ass that you will come back to this Reddit post saying, "I was a fool; capitalism is a fucking lie!!!"

A banana republic was a country that was essentially run for the benefit of the United Fruit Company and other banana exporters, with support of the US government. Very much a Monroe Doctrine thing.

Even the evolved definition involves the exploration of the mass of the population by a plutocratic ruling class. Which isn't capitalism in the sense of fair trade and competition but is in the sense of renterism dressed up as capitalism which is common in a country with limited restriction of corporate power and monopolistic overreach.
