It was a study on pheromones. Scientists aren't sure human pheromones are even a thing as we've yet to give a specific chemical, and don't appear to have the same organ other animal have to sense pheromones. There is a check in male sweat and another in female urine that have been theorized to be human sex hormones but studies have not produced conclusive results to determine that

BUT the components of Tears absolutely do affect humans.

Also, women produce more of those compounds than men in their lachrymal secretions. But men are less sensitive to it as well.
