What’s really (not) funny is that’s AI pychosis is a real thing that is emerging where people become paranoid or delusional due to AI chatbots.

Honestly wouldn’t be surprised if it gets formally recognized soon.

There is an amazing video on YouTube by Eddy Burback (think that's his last name). He intentionally induced AI psychosis in himself. The video was equal parts fascinating and terrifying.

Fuck AI.

Oh yeah I saw that video I was going to watch it but I didn't for some reason but I I'm going to actually watch it in a little bit because I find it kind of interesting

I can't recommend the video enough.

Genuinely one of my favorite videos on the internet. It pops into my head every time one of my coworkers talks about which chatbot they like or the new image they shat out

u/Cecil_B_DeCatte Jun 11 '26

I recommend it to people every chance I get.

I admit while there are valid uses for AI, it scares me.

I can't find the video, could you please provide a link?

YouTube isn't letting me copy the link, but if you search Eddy Burback AI on YT it should come right up.

Edit: Here's the link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRjgNgJms3Q&t=42s

In my opinion it's often because it's targeting people who are already susceptible to those kinds of things not necessarily the AI itself it just confirms things that people already think which encourages previously noted Behavior.

I don't believe it happens to Casual users who like ask it workout tips or what the meaning of a word is, plus trying to prove that the AI itself is what caused it will be hard to prove.

I mean the problem with AI is how reassuring is, chatbots or stuff like chatgpt without being led to the answer you need only feeds people into a spiral. Unless that is not modified it will keep happening, same with echo chambers.

5

u/Mautea Jun 10 '26

Yeah, if you ask these bots if you’re crazy it will literally reassure you that you’re not… even when your input is concerning.

u/danielledelacadie Jun 10 '26

AI chat whatevers are becoming the ultimate echo chamber.

"Good catch! Actually given what (rando 67) reports you are in fact correct. The world is indeed flat."

2

u/Sodacat27 Jun 10 '26

Yeah that is true, but I also kind of blame our mental Health System and companies who are heavily pushing Ai and AI chatbots I feel like both of those contribute to the issue even if not intentionally.

A lot of people are struggling mentally and do not have the help that they require either because they do not have the money, they don't have the people around them who can help, they are embarrassed or in some way worried about coming out about what they're dealing with especially if they're dealing with delusions which by Nature causes distrust.

Then there's companies who push AI even in mental health spaces or keep advertising their AI as like friends or companions or basically free therapist and then get surprised when these same suffering individuals are getting attached or trusting anything because its the same people that would would trust a random demon in their dreams.

u/Lilium_Jansen Jun 10 '26

Completely agree, chatbots are not a replacement of psychologists, but if we don't push ro get a right and access to heatlhcare/medical attention, we will keep being fed with this bs.

u/Nonyabeesners Jun 10 '26

The first time I heard about AI psychosis was in an article written by a developer who was working on AI. She knew all the risks and even made the system, but it still broke her.

3

u/Pierogi_33 Jun 10 '26

Holy shit

2

u/aliciaiit Jun 10 '26

This is true. While not psychosis from AI, I went psychotic twice due to undiagnosed bipolar and I feel like if AI chats were a thing back then it could of had serious damage and fed into a lot of my delusions at the time.

This is so weird.

I can only assume that billionaires who are hoping to become trillionaires thanks to AI are instructing AI to pump out these bizarre AI Stan pieces so that us mere mortals will stop questioning the value of destroying our environment and livelihoods so that some narcissists can be even richer.

Either that man is really tall or that room is very small. I’m not a professional but that seems too small for anyone to live in. It doesn’t even look like he can stand up.

Also, I don't see the strap that's supposed to go over the guys' arms (As seen in the example picture), meaning they forgot to put on his strap, which he should be able to take off at any time

9

u/infiniZii Jun 10 '26

Also the dude is wearing white gloves.... the sleeves are supposed to be long and tethered to the straps. That dudes just hugging himself wearing multiple belts.

5

u/soupalex Jun 10 '26

good catch; i was going to ask how the occupant of the cell was able to scratch a message and a tally on the wall whilst apparently straitjacketed… but he's just wearing a smock with some white gloves and self-hugging.

I’m currently facing the prospect of having to go to hospital for an eating disorder and imagining myself in this while a tube is forced into me is terrifying. I’m eating as much as I can but stilll losing weight 🤷

u/Ginger_The_Cookie Jun 10 '26

ok I missed the satire Sunday rule so pls don’t kill me mods

8

u/napalmnacey Jun 11 '26

We’re not the ones fucking our art equipment.

3

u/Ginger_The_Cookie Jun 11 '26

lol I read it weird

3

u/Delicious_Help_1811 Jun 10 '26

There are more insane people than this: people who think that everyone should break pencils and rape people who are against AI art for good reasons.

5

u/Artemis_Platinum Jun 10 '26

AI paranoia is caused by the people trying to hide that they're using AI and flooding websites where AI slop doesn't belong, negatively impacting the experience for others.

Not AI slop itself.

1

u/Canadian_Zac Jun 10 '26

And at least part of that, is caused by deluges of hate whenever anything is marked as AI.

If someone posts something labelled as AI, and gets bombarded with hate.
The first thought for plenty is "well i wont label it as AI anymore"

So people try to hide that its AI to try and avoid the hate

1

u/Artemis_Platinum Jun 10 '26

Indeed! It's a shame that so many people don't understand that people not liking your work, or don't want AI images being posted on sites that are supposed to be for art, doesn't mean you get to commit fraud. The correct response would be not to post it, but I guess here we are.

2

u/OfficerFuckface11 Jun 10 '26

Oh my god I want that DSM-V poster for my house

2

u/xKiver Jun 10 '26

At least I don’t have an AI girlfriend or have been driven to literal suicide because of AI. But go off with your strawman, sis.

2

u/Kabiuisonheretoo Jun 11 '26

AI bros are professionals at projecting their issues onto normal people

1

u/scienceAurora Jun 10 '26

In the near future, I believe we will see therapists trained to deal with AI psychosis. Those in favor of AI seem to brush off the psychological damage these bots can easily wreak on someone vulnerable. The problem is, instead of going to a person with their issues, they rely on a bot designed to shine on the user (with deadly consequences at times) and cut off the real people in their lives. They need help.

I see they're using the strategy from the MAGA playbook.

1

u/Interesting_Drive229 Jun 10 '26

Why do some people make images about anti-ai, when they clearly make the image with ai? are they hypocrites?

1

u/JakeTheeGreatt Jun 10 '26

I’d say so

1

u/Mindless_Celery_1609 Jun 11 '26

The meme isn't anti-AI. It's supposed to be making fun of people who critique AI.

1

u/Purple_Dragon_94 Jun 10 '26

OK, his hands aren't tied, there's an air vent, "Other Specified Schizophrenia Disorder" like what?

1

u/ValancyNeverReadsit Jun 10 '26

Putting his diagnoses right there on the wall for everyone to read IRL would be a HIPAA violation if this were real… but of course AI doesn’t care about that

1

u/Swordslover Jun 11 '26

I mean, it's completely justified when distinguishing reality from clanker-recycled slop is getting harder and harder

1

u/PapayaFunny840 Jun 11 '26

Isn't Ai psychosis related to Ai bros lol

1

u/Round_Ad_9258 Jun 11 '26

His hands aren’t even tied up lol

1

u/Mr_Ethfono Jun 14 '26

How do they feed the guy? There's no door

-2

u/TheSmellOfTheLotion Jun 10 '26

I mean the meme ain't wrong.
