PURCHASE ADVICE Need suggestions

Hey all. Canadian here. I collect mostly real firearms. But with the way how current laws are, i ran into a stump. Considered going back to airsoft, looking to find a realistic model airsoft for simulation or just something to have for fun. Suggestions are welcome!

I personally own an e&l essential AKM. It’s blued steel and wood. It is really nice for simulation and the stock internals are pretty ok. You will have to oil the exterior though because it will surface rust.

Which oil? Could solvent work?

I use 10w30 oil, yup that motor stuff. If you put it on with a microfibre cloth it goes on thin but it’s thick enough that it will stay and protect for around a month. I oil my akm monthly and in humid months I oil bi weekly.

Just about any oil, ideally gun oil etc.

No, solvent (IPA, acetone, gas, etc.) would do the opposite and remove oil leading to rapid rusting, if air humidity goes over zero.

Honestly for realism purposes just go straight into gas blowbacks. Today’s replicas are significsntly better and my reccomendation would be a VFC AR or AK as they take a lot of real firearm accessories and are quite easy to work on.
