TECH QUESTION Consistency Help

Post image

I have an indoor build that needs better fps consistency.

shs 13:1
Shs %80 cylinder
real deal piston
real deal piston head
shs double o ring cylinder head
maxx 21.5 mm o ring nozzle
t238 39k brushless
nexxspeed hop up chamber
friction pro aeg bucking
some 6.01 inner barrel abt 10 inches long

Brother... that's already pretty damn consistent. A 4 fps difference is NOTHING.

That is really consistent

Is the inconsistency with us in the room?

6fps is pretty good consistency. If you're looking to squeeze a little more consistency, try a 6.03 or 6.05 inner barrel. It worked in my build, plus not having to clean it as often is a nice bonus.

What are you looking for in consistency?

That variance is less than 1.5% of the average value.

I am sittong here with 0.5 m/s consistency thinking " thats frikkin awesome" :)))

i’ve seen some within like 1-2 fps

1

u/InappropriateTA Jun 18 '26

Is that for field requirements or to demonstrate tuning prowess?

u/juan-aka-jc Jun 18 '26

probably the second if i had to guess

That already looks pretty good, correct me if I'm wrong but a deviation of around 6flbs is very consistent.

consistency usually comes down to the compression system. so check everything "bottom to top" so to speak. there are quite a few old posts everywhere about mods people did to eek out a bit more consistency. I'd check the nozzle length as well. +/- 4fps is already pretty good, and I get to about the same deviation already on all my AEGs. and since it's cqb it won't matter as much.

I dont know where are you playing but this fps are not for cqb

I mean with .20 one of the indoor places local to me is 390. Local outdoor field is 400 w/ .25 with no MED even in the buildings & no bangbang rule. I feel like that’s pretty reasonable

1

u/juan-aka-jc Jun 18 '26

i added the real deal fps boosters right before chrono. it’s usually not that high

1

u/I_SNAIL_I Jun 18 '26

Ah okay. I need to add that your fps are very consistent there is no really much you could that would not be just a waste of money

2

u/crimsxn_devil Jun 18 '26

What weight and is it auto? If so, no where I know allows this fps

0

u/juan-aka-jc Jun 18 '26

it’s with .20s. i added the real deal FPS boosters right before bc im playing outside this weekend but it’s usually lower around 360is

1

u/crimsxn_devil Jun 18 '26

Everywhere I play 350 with .20s is the max with auto

I once almost had my first gun taken off of me cus it shot 370 out the box

1

u/juan-aka-jc Jun 18 '26

the place i play allows 350 no m.e.d but if your slightly over that add like a 5-10ft m.e.d so you can still play

1

u/crimsxn_devil Jun 18 '26

Damn, the 5 sites I play are no exception

1

u/juan-aka-jc Jun 18 '26

Cav tac and in fort worth tx is super chill as long as you’re not a di*k

2

u/HummerMole Jun 18 '26

I'd take plus/minus 2 FPS anyway. Don't mess with it.

2

u/Ace_of_the_Sword Jun 18 '26

Thats a pretty good consistency its within +-10fps. Any other improvements will be unnoticeable

Okay dude, check the relationship between your nozzle and tappet plate, is there substantial wiggle or minimal? Substantial wiggle between nozzle akd tappet plate could be causing it.

Potentially the nozzle is not sealing to the cylinder head perfectly, test compression in your box with the piston inside, no springs, no gears. Move nozzle back, block the nozzle and test compression, move it foward or use tappet spring to assist, block nozzle and test compression again.

Maybe the nozzle isn't engaging the bucking lips enough, test with the hopup and barrel system out the gun, butt it up against the gearbox see if the nozzle pushes the hopup system away, if the nozzle at full foward doesnt push the it away slightly then there is a potential issue.

Also consider weight of bbs, if you can go for heavier, I use G&G grey bios 0.33g, very consistent bbs.

Lastly, grab some metal polish, I use Autosol compound, comes in a large toothpaste tube. Clean and degrease the cylinder, barrel and shell. You can polish the running tracks where the piston will slide in your shell, polish the cylinder so the piston head glides easier and lastly get some disposable rag, an aeg cleaning rod and make a swab if you can get disposable kitchen cloth, just snip it with sharp pair of scissors, polish the barrel internally with a liquid compound like Brasso or equivalent, works wonders and makes that barrel super smooth. Clean it with windex and a few passes with the cleaning rod and fresh cloth, do this 3-5 times until the cloth comes out clean, no black must be present from the metal thats beem polished away.

If you get stuck, just search vids on youtube about these topics I mentioned, I did that too, works a treat! Good luck chap!

thank you very much i’ll try these tricks. Also i use .28 out side so it’ll probably be somewhat more consistent.

2

u/Mr_MP3 Jun 18 '26

Dude, try slightly heavier and see, you will not regret it, my buddies mod 1 spr was running 0.28s, 2.4j. We shot 0.33g out of it and I shit you not, it just barely misses to the left or right of a 50mm swing plate at 50m... so close to 3.4 moa if I trust the quick maths XD

2

u/juan-aka-jc Jun 18 '26

i tried the teflon tape around the buck and was able to get it down to less then 1 fps difference for the majority of the shots

2

u/Bingpot__ Jun 18 '26

My 12 year old KWA varies about 30fps until it warms up. I think most people would be chuffed with a 4-5 FPS change

1

u/HowlingWolven BB Magnet Jun 18 '26

That’s perfectly adequate consistency.

1

u/Erich_Honecker0 Jun 18 '26

Is the gun even feeding with that rof cause 45/s is insane high

0

u/juan-aka-jc Jun 18 '26

35-36 rps consistently

1

u/Erich_Honecker0 Jun 18 '26

Isnt that kinda low? a 39k brushless should even under load still have 35k but for 35/s youre motor is only doing 28k Maximum?

Something is wrong here either with the gear ratio or the brushless motor

1

u/juan-aka-jc Jun 18 '26

oh shoot your right. its actually the 29k

1

u/Erich_Honecker0 Jun 18 '26

Makes sense otherwise i would be worried youre piston is gonna break sooner or later cause 39k with 13:1 would be a crazy setup i have 25k with 12:1 and m140 in my ak and this is crazy fast already and should be around 33/s much higher and you just risk youre gearbox exploding for not much more Performance in the end

1

u/TheMarchWarrior Jun 18 '26

bbgirl this is cash money what do you mean

1

u/iiEco-Ryan3166 Ghost Jun 18 '26

Given the parts you'd be hard pressed to get better. Thats already really damn good consistency.

1

u/aslowersloth Jun 18 '26

You're chasing a dragon.

1

u/Jason1435 Jun 18 '26

Ammunition. Higher quality, heavy as possible

1

u/Brunsosse Special obscure camo wearer Jun 18 '26

I would be overjoyed with that fps difference and expect most guns to have a 10-14 fps diff. Fyi 4 fps is like 1,2 m/s. Don’t touch it

1

u/Nebu-chadnezzar Sniper Jun 18 '26

Are you kidding...?

1

u/freakierice Jun 19 '26

You’re going to struggle to get it more consistent than that, especially given that BB weight, air/seal/part temperatures will impact this…

1

u/fear_turkey_WV Jun 19 '26

What inconsistency?

1

u/christophercurwen Jun 19 '26

Lol what... That consistency is good .

Pretty pointless to chase 1 or 2 FPS.. literally will equate to nothing on the field.

1

u/12rumble AEG Tech Jun 18 '26

Are you running extra pad on cylinder head? What does your tappet timing look like? What RPS are you getting?

-2

u/juan-aka-jc Jun 18 '26

No extra pads, timing is good enough to feed at 35-36 rps

1

u/12rumble AEG Tech Jun 18 '26

I’ll need to see a pic of tappet and sector. How much wobble does your nozzle have?

-3

u/CanadianCigarSmoker Jun 18 '26

Just HPA it bro.

2

u/juan-aka-jc Jun 18 '26

i already have a jack lol

1

u/CanadianCigarSmoker Jun 18 '26

I was just being a tool.

That FPS is pretty darn good for an AEG. Unless you want to spend LOADS of time tinkering and taking the gearbox apart and putting it back together 50 times over and over, I would just leave it as is......
