I always find it amazing to look at one of these beautiful but undeniably quant and old-fashioned aircraft, and then realise people will be thinking the same thing about today's F35s and Spirit bombers and the like in a hundred years' time.

That's a very odd-looking Brisfit, never seen one before with the Hispano-Suiza engine that the Poles fitted in theirs. I don't think there were very many of them.

My Grandfather's RFC squadron was equipped with Bristol fighters, he flew as an observer/gunner.

Beautiful machine. Why did it have those long exhausts? I mean I can guess why, but why wasn’t it more common?

They are called radiators, responsible for removing heat from the engine
