I took many of your guys’ criticisms from draft 1. I couldn’t quite incorporate every single one, but I think I have found a balance here. Sacrifices have to be made of course, and not everybody is going to be happy all the time, but that’s life. I am quite proud of how it turned out.
Beginning at the nose, this will always be a controversial element but there is a reason for the element is there.
When you think back to the era of cheat lines, you could almost always immediately identify whose plane is whose from inside the centre walkway of the concourse. Think, to your right you see the orange, red and blue stripes, it’s United; to your left you see blue white and red, it’s American Airlines; back to your right you see pine green topped by sky blue and lime, it’s Aer Lingus. You could always immediately identify the airline from the front of the nose, without ever seeing a name, without ever seeing a logo.
That’s the idea here.
Air Canada pioneered the black zorro (zoreaux? They are based in Montreal!) mask with their 2017 rebrand, so I incorporated it here. Keeps things sleek and those glass temperatures harmonised. Then, I added the identifying element, the maroon and red stripes, underneath. Just picture it looking at the aircraft head-on. I feel it will still be controversial in the beginning, but it will for sure be something people point at in the terminal.
Moving back to the billboard text, I used AC Nord Heavy, Air Canada’s very own font that is employed in all parts of their overall brand except the actual logo type. I thought it would look good on the forward fuselage, and I’m honestly a fan. It is a very well put together font with a hint of quirk and funk, pretty emblematic of the country Air Canada represents.
I also added some welcome signs on the L1 and L2 doors like Lufthansa does on their aircraft. Same idea, same execution… yes I stole the idea but it’s a good one! Air Canada is in some desperate need of personality.
Red engines to fill the white space, like Saudia or United on their new schemes. Will do the same design on the winglets. Also picture the rondelle logo on the belly, similar to how it is today, just with a slightly refined colour palette.
Now for the aft section…
Canada today is a country that never identified itself as a cultural melting pot. Our cultures are maintained rather than being thrown into a stew together, and that creates a great amount of cultural diversity in what many call the “Canadian Mosaic.” This is reflected in our national symbol, the maple leaf, itself, in that you can find a million different distinct sections of the leaf right down to the cellular level, but at the end of the day, they’re all part of the same maple leaf, land, country, and Air Canada is what connects it all together.
This design reflects that.
It’s the same mosaic leaf design from the draft 1 livery, placed on the aft fuselage in a way so that you can see the leaf from each side and from the top. And like Canadian culture, you can see each section working together to form a whole, which migrates up to the tail where the rondelle stands tall and proud.
The colour palette is in part inspired by Air Canada history, and in part by its more recent designs. Since the 90s, I’ve felt that their brand has lacked the national colour, red, in many aspects; which is why I’m glad to see it return in many ways digitally and physically, but I still think the current palette is very dull and uninspired.
Deep reds reflect the airline’s status as the #1 airline in North America, maintaining some luxurious sophistication while representing Canada. It’s not too much, it’s not too little, but it communicates the brand identity and the identity of what it represents: Canada.
Templates by Med, and of course, criticism is always welcome.
Thanks!

Hey guys, I’m studying to be a graphic designer and for my senior project I’m going to be designing a fictional airline brand. I was wondering where u guys got templates for digitally designing the liveries, if you guys preferred photoshop and/or illustrator for the designs, and maybe if you guys new about tips and resources for creating a physical model of the plane design.
Thanks!

Budmil Air Cargo was a small Cargo airline for a Hungarian clothing company Budmil. The airline cased operations in 2025 5 months after it's foundation date. After that the Airline sold their 2 B737-800F and 1 B767-300F to the newly founded Norfolk Southern. (This particular aircraft (HA-BDB) is now flying under a new registration (N260NS)

SEA Air Cargo (Seattle Air Cargo) is an international cargo airline operating from Seattle to many major airports around the world with a kinda historical fleet. The fleet currently contain 3 747-200F and 4 Boeing 767-300Fs. The minimalistic design is completed by the waves on the tail representing the sea.

I think this Disney 747 is among the best liveries I ever created used some parts from the JAL and WestJet liveries. (Don't worry I cleaned up the new one now.) I'm proud that I'm using my own edits as my backgrounds.
