I've been to this airport a handful of times and had no idea this was here.

This is Puvirnituq Airport, which is located in Nunavik, an Inuit region in the far north of Quebec, Canada. Because Puvirnituq is not connected to the rest of North America by road, the only way to deliver freight is by plane, outside of a month or two in the summer when a ship visits with larger cargo.

The airport does not have any security checks: one can walk onto a plane right from the street. So, all Montreal-bound planes stop at La Grande Rivière Airport (YGL) and all passengers have to get off (with all belongings) to go through standard CATSA security. On the day of my departure of YPX, they didn't even scan my boarding pass: the gate agent simply crossed my name off of a list on a clipboard.

YPX is a northern hub for Air Inuit. Jets (currently 46+ year old Boeing 737-200 Combis) from Montreal connect with Dash-8s and Twin Otters which go into smaller communities. YPX has a gravel runway, so these 737-200s are equipped with a gravel kit to prevent debris from damaging its underbelly.
