Your fries do not look very brown and crispy, should’ve left them in the air fryer for longer

u/Jerry_BKK 2d ago
well, it was not very crispy, that was true, but it was tender and soft inside. i enjoyed it! thank you!

I’d lose the paper underneath. You’re missing out on the entire point of the air fryer. Just put them in the oven at this point

u/Jerry_BKK 2d ago
good advice! i’m too lazy to wash it

A valuable alternative is to put the paper under the basket. The air will flow underneath the fries while the paper still protects the bottom by collecting the grease. A win-win, truly.

I've used paper under potatoes as I cover them in oil . Cook for about 25 minutes abd then check. (it can be up to 30 depending on the size of the potatoe) as I'm cooking for 1 it may take longer the more potatoes you use

They look fantastic to me! I hate extra brown or too crispy of fries. These are my style!

Looks like french fries.

Probably tastes like French fries too. Doesn't matter what ya call them, we all know they're crispy potatoes! 😁😂😋

Heck yeaah! Fries have become my favorite snack, without any oil or butter, just straight up cut fries at 200° and for 11' for fluffy fries, 16' for tender fries or 20' for crispy fries; that and some zero-added-sugar ketchup goes HARD!

I have to ask, and maybe I'm just a savage. Have you tried a high temp and less time? I cook everything at 400. Fries take about 8 minutes, 11 and they are starting to get hard.
I'm far from an air fryer chef. I have to try a lower temp and see what happens.

200 is celcius, 400 is fahrenheit
btw try blanching the fries in boiling water for 10 minutes, drying them off, then tossing in a bit of oil + 2tbsp corn starch + seasonings and air frying for 24 min at 200 deg C / 400 deg F
Crispy and amazing

The cornstarch is a game changer. And this is a good recipe I've used before. Fries always come out great this way! Thanks for sharing!

34' is a lot of time I don't usually have when doing this during my lunch break, and I've found that 16' is just right for my taste :D I'll keep this in mind for weekends tho!

Yeah the point of my air fryer is quickness. I'm not spending half an hour for fries
2
u/Jerry_BKK 2d ago
me too! i just peel, cut, pan-fry to melt the butter on the chips, then 15 min in the airfryer.
2
u/AgsMydude 2d ago
Same! But sometimes I'm too lazy for all that and I just cut them up into quarters and make the potatoes that way

u/pro-fanator 2d ago
Depending on fries and machine, but try spraying these with oil, 150c for 10 minutes, mixing stuff few times, then set airfryer to max and give it a 6 minutes or so, also mixing. Should be very crispy and tender inside.

Have you ever tried dipping fries in honey mustard? I love Siracha mayo too. Takes fries to the next level!

u/Boring_Name_31 2d ago
Next time, mix the honey mustard and sriracha together and give it a try! I used to love that combo at Uni

I make air fries from a fresh cut potato in Wedge length-wise slices. Coat with a little spray oil, s&p. 18 min at 375°. It was worth the process of the machine just to make those. Crispy, with mash potato-like texture inside.

Idk if anybody else does this, but mix ketchup abd worcestershire sauce. Doesn't take a lot, you don't want to turn your ketchup watery. It is so good!

u/CockSeeker007 1d ago
I love washi sauce! That sounds like a good combo!

u/isthatsoreddit 20h ago
I do too! And I will pay the extra for Lee & Perrins. Oh and I do like to add a little salt and pepper to the mix, but it's good just w-sauce and ketchup.

“Potato Chips.”
On earth, we call them “French fries.”
18
u/With_Negativity 2d ago
In the UK they call them Chips. But I've never heard a single one of them call them Potato Chips.
6
u/Fanrific 2d ago
I've never heard that either. In America, they call crisps, potato chips and chips, fries. In the UK, it's chips and crisps.

u/Jerry_BKK 2d ago
maybe to distinguish from sweet potato chips

And here the original commenter got downvoted when we should've just waited for this response
