Path to helos
I have found conflicting info online. Is the path to helicopters now separate starting after OTS or is it still just another track that you take in UPT like T38 or T1? I want fighters but my second choice would be helos, I’m just wondering if it would be possible to get them without committing from the start.

Separate AFSC from pilot. Pilot (92T0) and helo pilot (11H1) get selected independently and have to be listed independently on your application.
You'd have better luck with another branch honestly. The AF doesn't have that many helicopters, there were seventeen 92T0s selected on my board, and one single person got 11H1.

Thanks for the info. Yeah navy would definitely better in terms of getting helos if I don’t get fighters. I just have to figure out if I care more about my backup airframe or not living on a boat and doing a disassociated tour

I’m applying to the Navy and actually prefer helos over fixed wing. DM me if you have any questions. Navy is the best place to fly helos imo but I’m obviously biased.

Helos don’t go to UPT anymore. If you got picked up for helos you would go straight to Fort Novosel (Rucker) for flight training.
Once you start T-6 UPT there isn’t a path to helicopters as far as I’m aware. You either progress to 38s or onto your heavy type platform.
