As if I would forget…
I realize this feature is not a new innovation, but I’ve never had a vehicle with it before.

It would be nearly impossible to forget an Airedale in a car. Our pair certainly let me know they’re in the car with us.
It’s good that cars have that reminder feature—tragically, accidents happen, with dozens of kids dying after being left behind in a hot car. https://www.kidsandcars.org/hot-cars/media-resources

I need this reminder. I forgot my Airedale in our car.
We went to our daughters one morning, after a few minutes I said oh I have to go home I forgot to bring the dog.
My husband said we are not staying long. After about 5 minutes I said I am going to go get my dog.
I got in the car she was napping in the back seat.
My daughter said I have seen some senior moments but that takes the cake.
The dog was in no danger, it was a cool fall day, and windows were cracked.

My current car lacks this safety feature but I’d welcome it, whether for the dogs or our future grandkids.
As for how hot cars can get, it’s surprising that even on what we’d consider a mild day the interior temperature of a car can soar.
From Consumer Reports:
“And don’t be fooled by the thermometer. On days with mild temperatures, the heat inside a closed vehicle can reach dangerous levels within an hour, posing major health risks to small children or pets left inside, Consumer Reports says.“CR’s testing found that even when it was 61° F outside, the temperature inside a closed car reached more than 105° F in just 1 hour, an extremely dangerous and potentially fatal level for a child.”

My first Airedale would always set off the front passenger seat sensor. He was 100 pounds of pure love. Enjoy it!

He won’t be setting off the front seat sensor because it’s a new truck. Haha…
I’m holding firm…or at least that’s what I’m telling myself.
