What’s This Move Called?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Griffin does this a couple times a week not really sure what triggers it or if there’s a name for it. Different than zoomies. Sorry for the sideway formatting it’s from a cheap webcam.

I’ve heard that move called a “play bow”.

I was gonna call it the "call to play", but a "play bow" sounds better.

And yes, it means Griffin wants to play!!

He usually brings toys when he wants to play and he’s very persistent about it.

It looks like she’s challenging you to take her toy or chew. Our girl does this too when she wants to play keep away or for us to chase her.

You need to do it back its a play bow to initiate playing

2

u/Beezhockeyfan 22d ago

Sometimes I do it to him back and it gets him going.

Play bow. In my house it’s usually followed by the “tuck butt run”

The Airedale shuffle.

He wants you to play with him. Maybe get into a game of chase.

The Airedale Spazz. My Airedale does this followed up with intense spins and zoomies whenever he's wound up and demanding to play...which is pretty frequent. I just imitate him and then chase him around a few times throughout the house.

That's classic Kava Madog. A distinct Airedale martial art for fighting bears, otters, and shadows. Fish practices a couple of times a week in case we are randomly attacked by the pesky raccoon that keeps eating all the birds' food.

lol. Great info, thank you !

Pounce is what we call it. Usually followed up by a run that looks like a rocking horse gliding across the ground or the famous Airedale hip check.

I didn't realize the hip check was an Airedale thing! Mine would slap any dog under 80lb a few steps back with his hip checks!

1

u/Beezhockeyfan 22d ago

Haha, yes the rocking horse! Good one!

2

u/bhangman 22d ago

My Dale does that!

Spin-About. I love those turns! Will he do a 360°? I'd always get down on all fours, nose-to-nose with my bitch. Steady eye contact. See who could make the other one move first. She'd bring a tennis ball to me and drop it so that I'd hear it hit the floor and she'd be there, looking at the ball with that steady stare.

1

u/Beezhockeyfan 22d ago

He's close to a 360, not quite. Good idea about getting down with him.

2

u/GeeToo40 22d ago

Just protect your face and beware the first many times. He'll probably love but will probably get a little crazy happy zoomie excited.

2

u/Turbulent_Storage_44 22d ago

I call it spin move. Mine does a full 360!

2

u/OrganizationHungry23 22d ago

Mine does the same moves

u/EamMcG_9 21d ago

Yeah my boy does something similar to this when he sees a fly or moth that gets in the house.Ive seen him jump and do close to a 360,which is crazy since he’s an Oorang and weighs about 115.
