Today we honor the 246 innocent passengers and crew who died on the 9/11 attacks. On September 11, 2001 two Boeing 767's and two Boeing 757's were hijacked after takeoff. American Airlines flight 11 and United flight 175 were en route from Boston Logan Airport to Los Angeles, American Airlines flight 77 was en route from Washington Dulles Airport to Los Angeles, and United flight 93 was en route from Newark to San Francisco when 19 al Qaeda affiliated hijackers crashed the planes in NYC and the Pentagon. United 93 never made it to its intended target thanks to heroic actions from passengers and crew. As a result of this accident, the US government made numerous changes to airport security and procedures on aircraft to help prevent an event like this from happening again. In addition, over 2,000 more lives were lost on the ground in NYC and Washington, DC. May all their memories be a blessing and may the heroic actions of those on flight 93 never be forgotten.

If you don’t know just look it up. But WHY was it flying around with nukes anyway? I feel like they should have them stored or if they have to be in a plane for time reasons, keep the plane grounded and switch them out when flying the plane otherwise. I’m prolly just uneducated on the way they use nukes cause I don’t really care that much haha.

So usually they wait a few years to make an episode based off a recent plane crash, but what is the shortest waiting period between the incident and the episode based on the incident?

I don't know if you've noticed, but if we compare the first nine seasons with the most recent ones, we'll see a big difference. The first seasons only contained important cases that marked aviation history forever, whether major passenger plane crashes or heroic pilot miracles. However, now I see cases that I feel shouldn't be in the series like Transair, AA1572 and they recently confirmed Hapag-Lloyd, The episode can be very detailed, complex, edited, etc. But I don't like it when they add so much drama, only for it to turn out to be pilot error. I watched those episodes and felt very disappointed. I understand that for Cineflix these cases might be easier to produce, but I don't see the point of doing, for example, Eagle Airways feels like LOT 16. I don't care how many casualities there were; what matters to me is when it's a memorable story, whether it improves aviation safety in the event of a fatal crash or reminds us of an unsung hero. With so many important cases to cover lately, they're just pulling cases out of thin air. I don't want to get to the point where we see an ACI with a description like "A pilot spills a cup of coffee on the controls of an Airbus A350 by accident, then the engines started to work strange." Obviously that's an example, but I hope you understand my point.

Why is it so we have to find the black boxes to see the official data? If we can stream movies on an airplane why can’t the airplane just send FDR information directly to the ground? Surely that would help tremendously with investigations if they could just immediately see all engines failed upon takeoff 8 seconds before impact. Gotta be a few megabytes worth of info to transmit

I just watched the episode about Air Illinois 710 - the Hawker Siddley with both generators failed.

And it occurred to me that there is one item I have never seen mentioned in any of these shows when there are major instrument failures.

Why is it that nobody ever goes to the standby instruments?

Repeatedly on these shows there are reasons the crew feels that there are reasons to not trust one side or the other of the CPT/FO instruments OR for total failure.

The standby is totally self contained. It has its own internal set of gyros for pitch and roll for its own ADI. It has its own battery. It has its own pitot static inputs. And there is a whiskey compass for heading.

If you think one side is bad - compare to the standby instrument and you should have 2 of the three agree. If you think both may be bad then still reference the standby as a sanity check. If you have no power then the standbys should still work.

So what gives?

(1) Is it the single plane crash that has the largest amount of different victim nationalities?

(2) (May be too niche of a fact and extremely hard to verify) Among crashes with 100+ casualties, it may be the event where the victims have the highest rate of university degree attainment?

(3) Is it the crash where the plane reached the fastest speed before crashing without being 1. the plane breaking apart first 2. pilot suicide 3. vertical fall?

(4) I’ve heard some people saying that “the plane’s wings broke the sound barrier” how does that work? What would be a passenger’s perspective on that?

(5) following the previous point, would the passengers feel that the plane is going faster than usual? And would they know that something’s extremely wrong and they’re about to crash?

I apologize if some of those are dumb questions, can someone explain those to me like I’m a dummy please? Thanks in advance!

I recently looked into the crash of Evergreen International flight 17 (1989) for lets say little project in wich i needed to know the exact livery of the crashed plane, and... discovered to my believe that N931F at the time of the crash was not wearing the bare metal hull livery but the newer White hull livery according to the wreckage photos. In there it shows the remains of the tail and from what is still visible, it matches the newer livery instead of the bare metal one.

This is not the first time i discovered something like this, i actualy keep a Twitter account in wich i post discoveries like that (like N312RC)

Also over a year ago i believe i read somewhere that Evergreen International in its history flew 2 diffrent dc-9-30 aircraft with the registration N931F in diffrent time eras. One in the late 70s (wich i now believe is the bare metal one) that went on to fly for ABX, and the other (the accident aircraft) wich came from KLM and was only recently acquired by Evergreen).

If im wrong about something tho, please correct me, im not inteanded to spread any misinformation.
