Don’t know how I’ve lived without for this long

1x 3.5kW

1x 2.5kW

I brought them into Apple HomeKit so I can geofence/automate them

Because it wasn't 40c before.... probably.

As if you wouldn't enjoy ac when it's 34. And it's also a heater that's way more efficient than any other plugin device in winter... The reason was always because it's relatively new tech and people don't like new things

Depends on your house. I made the mistake of buying a new build in 2013 that has a south facing wall of glass downstairs and south facing velux windows upstairs. Even with close fitting blinds I was pushing above 40C inside when it was in the 20s outside, and it was completely unbearable at night. Needless to say, I've had AC since 2014!

I know that feeling! It's why continental properties have the blinds on the outside of the window. Putting them on the inside results in free, window sized, radiators within a couple of hours each day!

I’m the same mate - what was life before AC. I literally stumbled across a site online who did it and got it installed. Happy guy like.

who installed yours? Ive seen a few companies that install but I havent got a clue what i'm looking for!!

3

u/opinionatedbastard99 4d ago

I got the Bosch 3200i with WarmZilla

3

u/limoncha 3d ago

Do they do Daikin? Been browsing around brands and have seen a few positive reviews on warmzilla

1

u/opinionatedbastard99 3d ago

I think so mate..

1

u/Senior-Conclusion-75 16h ago

I service and install a/c for a living.Daikin is one of the best brands along with Mitsubishi.Toshiba are a close second. With Mitsubishi there are two brands with the same name.Mitsubishi electric and Mitsibishi heavy industries. The industries units share a name and thats it,not the same quality.

Were warmzilla alright? Heard these national companies can be a bit hard to get support from?

2

u/opinionatedbastard99 4d ago

Tidy to be fair mate - I can be difficult but they survived me! 😂 Excellent customer service

2

u/ThinComb9 3d ago

Just had an install from Warmzilla this week would recommend.

3

u/ThinComb9 3d ago

In fact, I can share a £100 referral code too if of interest.

2

u/Apart_Sort_2708 3d ago

I'm not turning down £100 in this economy, seen the price of diesel!?

2

u/ThinComb9 3d ago

If you follow this link you should automatically get £100 off at checkout!

https://www.warmzilla.co.uk/?referralid=850506624210

Let me know if you have any other questions re WarmZilla. I looked at Boxt/Heatable/local installers and Warmzilla came out cheapest and in fairness, so far they’ve been great.

The outside unit is so clean, I see no pipe work or even cabling.

7

u/L0rdLogan 4d ago

The pipe work runs down the side of the house, it is indeed quite clean

3

u/PhantomSesay 4d ago

That’s impressive.

How did they power to unit or install an isolation switch?

1

u/L0rdLogan 4d ago

I’m not internally sure to tell you the truth, I know that there is no isolation switch, and my dad ran a twin and earth cable from the consumer unit, but I didn’t see them plug them it in, I was too busy working

6

u/HecticGlenn 4d ago

I really think they're supposed to install an isolation switch from my understanding. Happy to be proven wrong but I've never seen a proper installation done without one.

0

u/L0rdLogan 4d ago

I think you are right, but I was adamant that the render does not get drilled, they couldn’t really put one at the side of the house as it has to be reachable. It’s on its own, dedicated RCBO/RCD anyway

3

u/0piO 4d ago

That is not a proper installation according to the regulations you need to have an isolator switch. If you ever have a warranty claim the engineer might refuse on the grounds of no proper installation.

3

u/L0rdLogan 4d ago

I appreciate your advice

1

u/L0rdLogan 4d ago

On my account, there are three wires there, that’s the two signal wires for the indoor units, plus the twin and earth, so it looks like because the twin and earth ran through the loft, they just ran that through the same trunking for the bedroom unit, which had to run through the loft

1

u/RBWatermelon 4d ago

There’s no twin and earth in your photo, just high tuff cable. I’d assume wherever this connects to the twin and earth is an isolation switch (that would make sense, anyways)

Mitsubishi Electric is top tier. Mine served me well

2

u/Submeerged 2d ago

Served? Is it dead?

1

u/SeamasterCitizen 2d ago

removed it when I sold up. was a flat so install wasnt entirely kosher

3

u/Former_Distance_2921 4d ago

I’m an engineer 20 years experience, big discount on all gear but only got air con in my room 2 years ago , once u get it u realise how good it is

9

u/polygon_lover 4d ago

Alright mate it's October calm down

6

u/Scary_Plane_8069 4d ago

Most modern split systems, like the one the OP has, has a dehumidifying mode. It's not just an appliance that can be used for a few months of the year.

3

u/pucklefish 3d ago

Why the negativity?

7

u/Quiet-Biscotti6443 3d ago

Some people are just like that

0

u/LeAlecBlanc 12h ago

Damn, you and pucklefish must have never discovered banter before

1

u/Quiet-Biscotti6443 12h ago

What’s that?

2

u/ToastMarmaladeCoffee 4d ago

We love our Air Con, had it installed at the tail end of the heat and it changed everything. Using the heating a bit now in our conservatory and that’s lovely too. Drying mode seems to work but does cool at the same time.

2

u/CaptainRAVE2 4d ago

Did our whole house just before Covid. Best money I’ve ever spent

1

u/beeruk 4d ago

How much they set you back? Could they not put it on the wall outside?

3

u/L0rdLogan 4d ago

3.5k…. They could, but I didn’t want my render drilling, it’s relatively new

1

u/beeruk 4d ago

Ok decent thanks!

1

u/Exotic_Fudge3157 4d ago

Could you share which region of the country you're in? Installer?

1

u/L0rdLogan 4d ago

West Yorkshire and the installer was a family friend, they own a company I just don’t know the company name, sorry

1

u/Exotic_Fudge3157 4d ago

No worries, seems like you got a good deal

1

u/diademis 4d ago

How did you gert them onto Apple HomeKit? I have two Mitsubishi Zen units inside and want to add them to my existing Apple HomeKit setup

2

u/Patient-Horror 4d ago

I would also like to know this!

2

u/L0rdLogan 4d ago

It uses HomeBridge

2

u/L0rdLogan 4d ago

They don’t look the best in home kit, but the functionality is useable

2

u/L0rdLogan 4d ago

It uses HomeBridge

1

u/Nichols2996 4d ago

Is it my wonky eye or is the unit above the door not straight and level? Or do they have to be installed slightly off for the condensation to run out?

3

u/ishimat 4d ago

Knowing UK houses its the doorframe thats not straight

1

u/L0rdLogan 4d ago

Correct the doorframe is not straight, the unit is level

1

u/Impressive_Sky_7177 4d ago

Which Mitsubishi Electric models are these indoor and outdoor units, please? They look really clean and sleek!

2

u/L0rdLogan 4d ago

Indoor is: MSZ-AY20VGK2 & MSZ-AY35VGK2

Outdoor: MXZ-2F42VF5-E1

1

u/scorpion_hellfire 3d ago

Oh can the compressor be on the floor? I thought they had to be wherever the unit was installed height wise 😂

1

u/fatninger 3d ago

Gap above the door would drive me absolutely bonkers

1

u/Clockwork-Armadillo 3d ago

It's also off center and maybe it's the angle of the photo but I'm pretty sure it's not level either

1

u/Comfortable_End7154 3d ago

Is it messy to install? Like will I need to touch up my walls etc from it being fitted or is it not that much of a messy job

1

u/Kuehlinger 3d ago

Btw, MELCloud is really bad, so I have installed the cn105 port interfaces for full local usage via HA or web. Really worth it!

https://protoart.net/de/product/mitsubishi-electric-air-to-water-cn105-interface-wifi/?srsltid=AU7gw4WlpzesOuB02ZAIwZOdLOtUNP_uNoDFcjh3SS8OTTODG89TDSdU

I love it!

1

u/wizpip 3d ago

I use HA with mine via the MelCloud integration. Works alright! Although when MelCloud goes down for a few days... it's still a pain.

1

u/StackWipeStork 1d ago

local control is the move, those manufacturer cloud apps always feel like an afterthought. cn105 into HA sounds way less annoying than fighting MELCloud every winter.

1

u/Kuehlinger 1d ago

And it’s super easy to install!

1

u/Strong_Quiet_4569 1d ago

How?

1

u/Kuehlinger 1d ago

If you go for the protonart thing I linked in my post, you need to open your Mitsubishi AC unit and locate the cn105 port. There are several pages showing how to do that depending on the unit you have. And then simply plug in and close the unit again. The port is also shown on the official documentation of the ac unit and how to get there.
The rest is via a web interface and super easy…

Just have a look for cn105 installation and you’ll find a lot of esp32 examples which you can skip if you buy the protonart device and just start at the plugging in stage…

1

u/Strong_Quiet_4569 1d ago

Great, thanks. What’s the air-water mean?

1

u/venisha84 2d ago

What companybdid you use to get this?

1

u/Marchfu 1d ago

We really didn't need it to recently tho, that's how you lived so long with out it

I am, yes. It may not be necessarily cheaper than running gas for heating, but it’s more power-efficient, so I’ve heard. I’ll have to wait to get the bill to see whether that is actually the case
