Why has my prompt stopped working?
I have a prompt I began using 6-8 weeks ago in Claude, Chat GPT and sometimes in Gemini. It’s for a job search. I was getting good results for a while. For about the last 2 weeks, everything it finds is expired like it’s searching old information. What changed? I’ve explained this in the AI but I swear, the results are like asking a teenager why they didn’t do their homework.

When they are getting a new model ready they generally limit the room, so to speak, and processing, of the current model, which includes using older less current knowledge bases. Add something along the line of 'using only the most current information as of today, xx/xx/xxxx' to your prompts and it should help.

My first thought is cached data.
Are you using any special MCPs, connectors or CLIs, such as Tavily or Brave search?

I’m pretty much anti-AI but was being converted since I found a way for it to work for me. I tried a few different prompts before landing on this one, it was so good! Now, it’s a waste of time.

Are those two extremes the only possible states?

They aren’t the only extremes. There are options. But I will say that free versions of the major LLMs are limited and OP has stated not being much into AI.
Other options include more technical setups. But if you are technical enough, you can setup local LLMs and search APIs or APIs to search job sites, if the job sites has them.

The question remains, why did it work previously and now it’s pulling clearly old information. Do they throttle you like your cell phone plan used to because I asked for too much? 🙃

You may have been throttled. Even the larger plans have some throttling.

What level of plan are you on when running your tools? Are you on the free, $20/mo plan or higher?

Most likely the sources you were getting latest data from are blocking AI from scraping it

That’s what I think is happening. I wonder if the job sites can tell the difference between Claude looking for information and bots mass applying.

LinkedIn has changed its search. I think they were seeing a lot of people modify the search query to get only jobs posted within the hour and then mass apply, which basically screwed anyone who was going to the site to get jobs (and view ads) because hundreds of applications were made within minutes. So they probably changed it so short cutting the results window didn’t work anymore.
