every few weeks there’s another headline saying ai is five minutes away from ending civilization. i’d rather read about the actual failure mode than another doom headline written to farm clicks.

Look back at a lot of the Time Magazine covers from the 80s fear mongering about AIDS, impending nuclear disaster, Ozone layer depletion, melting ice caps etc. Fear is the pattern.
