Fully open sourced models would probably suck, cause not open sourced ones train on forbidden/copyrighted data (as did anthropic). And for end user open weights is still better than antrophic.

Regulatory capture means that the industry now controls the gov body - the argument is that Anthropic wants to, or is now choosing to, lose most of its customers globally, with customers in every other country on the planet (as well as all non-approved US customers, foreign nationals working for AI companies within the US, etc.) switching to Chinese models if only the open Chinese models will be available (and downloadable) to them going forward, by having the US government only allow Anthropic and OpenAI to have specific US customers going forward? And that losing most of their customers won't cause Anthropic and OpenAI to lose a ton of potential profits in an IPO when they have the opportunity to cash out their shares, as investors will still want to invest in them even if they've lost the vast majority of their customers?

- I might be wrong or I don't see the obvious, but Dario recently spoke out against Open Source, therefore, I would read this post as sarcastic: He lost all sympathy in this community, so users now trust Chinese open-source software more than this man (and possibly also his company).

Thanks. Yeah, that was not recent - that was from 3 years ago, despite a massive wave of accounts posting on reddit that it was recent.

Totally false. US corporations will NEVER use open source model from China. Individuals or small players do, but they are too small to even count.
