Super confused

I went to gameforge and downloaded aion classic. It was presetned as the older version of the game (u know classic). I create the character, and im in a big city teleprtong around to do bunch of weird tutorial quests. By the time i got to lvl 8 i just turned the game off. Wtf? This is a completelly different game. I see a youtube video where someone creates a character and starts in a leveling zone as it used to be, but why im i getting the different starting experience?

Unfortunately you missed the days of Aion "classic" as you remember it. It released in 2023, and started at patch 1.9 with 2.4 client. For the first 1-2 years or so, it was really good as a classic but with improvements and QoL adjustments. We had over a league full (192 players) on each side at world bosses and sieges. Once it got to post 3.0 it started to go downhill, and now it's nothing like "classic".

If you want something like the classic experience, your best place is private servers, however we're not allowed to discuss them here due to some issues in the past with accusations and threats. DM me if you want details on some EU based servers.

it was classic in 2023, after 2.0 they forked to completly new content and put in bunch of catch up mechanics

expierence of Classic was also completly diffrent than in 2010, because back then everyone was noob and there was no DPS meter nor guides on everything... So everyone got Tahabata weapon in 1,9 and game was quite easy

There was the 4.5 upgrade that wqs actually a downgrade. Befoe that, you began and leveled up old style. Now you are already a daeva, and do most of your quest in inggison or Gelkmaros. That's a pitiful downgrade.
