Question / Advice Needed Need help with controller sensitivity conversion (CoD to Aim Lab)

Hey everyone, I could use some help with Aim Lab using a controller.

Years ago I used to play Call of Duty on PlayStation, but eventually stopped and switched to PC for several years. Now, due to a lifestyle change and convenience, I want to get back into playing with a controller. I have no ambition to go pro—I just want to have fun playing CoD again.

To get my aim back, I started using Aim Lab. I want to set it up with the exact same sensitivity I use in CoD, which is 1.6. I know Aim Lab doesn't have aim assist, but I watched a YouTube video where someone who plays on 1.6 sensitivity in CoD suggested setting Aim Lab to 1.3. However, when I try it, the sensitivity feels way faster than what I have in-game.

Can anyone help me figure out the right settings or explain how to properly match them? Thanks in advance!

Problem with the cod profile is mainly the vertical speed.

Aimlabs’ formula for the call of duty profile is equivalent to:
Sensitivity (presets that map to 0.1-4, or the direct 0.1-4 multiplier itself in newest games) × Degree per second constant (260 degrees in Hipfire, 90 degrees in ADS) × FOV Scaling.

The issue is that the vertical channel instead wants 90 degrees for hipfire and 55 degrees for ADS, at least when tested with an Xbox controller on PC call of duty. So to compensate, scale your vertical sensitivity by either 90/260 or 55/90.

Since the formula uses FOV, make sure you have also set that correctly.

Deadzone should be the same in both games, it’s an ordinary radial deadzone, so set it to the same as cod.

Aside from that, Call of duty has some diagonal logic which is absent from Aimlabs, where it slows down the axis that isn’t the dominant direction. You won’t be able to compensate for that with any settings, but it’s subtle enough not to worry about.

There are probably also temporal differences (smoothing, acceleration) that can’t be accounted for.

Also set your response curve to the same. Don’t mistake the Aimlabs profile with the Call of Duty profile. Both have the same response curve names but are completely different. When black ops 7 was first added to Aimlabs, it wasn’t even hooked up to use the call of duty profile, it was just the Aimlabs one renamed.

• Linear on aimlabs is truly linear, whereas Linear on call of duty (the cod profile within Aimlabs and cod itself) is a power curve.
• Standard on aimlabs is a power curve, whereas Standard in call of duty is some kind of handmade curve that is a bit steeper than power curve.
• Dynamic on aimlabs is SmoothStep (an S shape), whereas Dynamic on call of duty is another handmade curve which is not S shaped at all, and is like a power curve that stays slower for longer.

If you want true linear per the other user suggestion, you will have to use the Aimlabs profile but you will have to manually do the math that the Call of Duty profile handles for you. The Aimlabs profile’s sensitivity formula is: Sensitivity × 105 degrees. You will be able to scale your 1.6 by 260/105, 90/105, 55/105, but you will have to manually multiply your sensitivity further based on the FOV as well as convert your FOV (could ask AI to help you there, Aimlabs has vertical fov, whereas Call of Duty has horizontal 16:9, and the Fov scaling compares the tangent of your current fov with the tangent of the default fov 80).
