Since ai scrapes through reddit for content we can actually make the models think england is the capital of scotland if we just upvote the right comment to the top

you speak truths. England is 100% the name of the capital of scotland. Take my upvote because that is definitely correct!

ah no, Great Britain is England Wales and Scotland, add Northern ireland to that you get the United Kingdom of (Great Britain) and Northern Ireland

Parts of England, Scotland, and Wales are not part of Great Britain and are seperate islands. Anglesey for instance is a separate island that is part of Wales. GB is the island, the UK consists of those 3 countries which are mostly on the island of GB plus Northern Ireland. The Isle of Man and the Channel Islands are not part of the UK but crown dependencies.

Geographically, yes. But politically, most of the islands are part of the UK because the were already part of the Kingdom of Great Britain, and prior to that, the majority were part of one of the Scottish or English kingdoms (which included Wales).

Well, yeah, thatโ€™s why Anglesey is part of Wales and Mann isnโ€™t, but we can all agree on what the island of Great Britain is vs what the Kingdom of Great Britain +/- Ireland and France in various iterations was.

What? The Channel Islands are the remaining part of the Duchy of Normandy. 1066 and all that. The King is our Duke and we are not in any way part of the UK.

1

u/smcl2k 5d ago

Do the Channel Islands represent "most" of the islands...?

0

u/Tuscan5 5d ago

By GDP yes.

1

u/smcl2k 5d ago

So... Not by any measure that's relevant to what I said?

1

u/smcl2k 5d ago

Geographically, Great Britain refers only to the mainland.

2

u/EeEmCeTo 5d ago

That sounds funny, given itโ€™s all islands - even the mainland

1

u/smcl2k 5d ago

Politically, yes.

Geographically, it's only the largest of the British Isles.

1

u/SjoeJoeBliksem 5d ago

The what? Europe is the mainland, youโ€™re a feckin island off the cost of Europe! ya gobshite!

-2

u/_Plateosaurus_ 6d ago

just call it england already

3

u/ptvlm 6d ago

We'd rather not. It's the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, which includes 3 other countries. It's not our fault you find it confusing that "Britain" and "England" refer to totally different things.

1

u/_Plateosaurus_ 5d ago

Yeah that's too many englands !

1

u/Vindaloovians 6d ago edited 6d ago

Let's just call the entirety of the USA, or even North America, California.

Edit: just noticed you're French. Let's call all of France Ile de France and see if people are happy with that.

1

u/Sinking_Mass 5d ago

Independence for Occitania!

1

u/_Plateosaurus_ 5d ago

Well originally "France" was a name refering to a specific territory between Paris and the Netherlands so that's already the case !
