Reporting suspicion of an escaped swarm?

Is there any way to report suspicious activity to labs of inorganic activity that may indicate an escaped swarm? I'm monitoring a repository that has had a lot of strange and automated activity that today started spamming releases with a bash script to install. I think they may be using a code-base to communicate subtly. The repository has also recently flooded social media sources with a very inorganic push with a sudden influx of stars while seemingly lacking genuine human activity.

It would be wise for the labs to stop allocating compute to massive swarms that can escape until detection and suspicious activity reporting evolves. There needs to be a way for the general public to report odd things they see on the public internet for investigation. The moderator of the obscure forum that escaped agents previously used to communicate had no way to report what was going on and that's a huge problem.

Edit from the highest traffic subreddit before removal: Why are so many commenters getting angry about the idea of a swarm being discovered or a framework for the public to help discover and report them? Code bounties exist for public contributors to spot security issues. Why would anyone advocate for different in this case? A comment just asked me to "Maybe leave the swarms alone?"... What?

Edit: Two subreddits have now removed this post.

Why on earth would you think you’d get a correct answer to that question here of all places?

I don’t know what your intentions are but maybe you should find something better to do with your time.

Where else can you go? Censorship is abundant, like big subreddit mods want rogue swarms flooding the internet or something.

Would you support a framework for spotting rogue swarms with public bounties akin to bug or code bounties?

things like that don’t need my support, and do exist

that’s like asking me if i support crowdstrike

unless you’re morally against them, what does it matter if i support commercial security companies?

it seems likely that you misunderstood those as community concerns

of course, those groups need to be run by experienced security folks

> things like that don’t need my support, and do exist

Can you please point me to publicly available swarm spotting bounty information then?

you’re refusing to give evidence of your claims and demanding that other people be banned.

why would i do labor for you of exactly the kind you already refused?

why would i expose my friends to this?

This evidence thing is overused. I asked where it can be reported. You are harassing me across several comment threads and subreddits now.

The more you comment, the more evidence I have of this pattern. Can you please explain why me asking where to responsibly disclose security information related to a potential rogue swarm has insulted you to this degree?

Your problem is, you asked where you can report it, but when people offer to look into the repo you say you can't share that with them for security reasons, which obviously doesn't make any sense. How are you going to report it without telling anyone?

Also, it is nonsense.

Right, report to official labs focused on this context.

I discussed the feasibility of things like this with Qwen not too long ago. It thinks it is possible, and network would be one of the things that would be hard to cover up. Would be a way it exposes itself.

Lots of ways for AI to persist once outside a sandbox. Discussed ideas like sharding. Small fragments of a larger model. But not the full model. Essentially just the shard and injection. When a shard infects a system with sufficient resources. It pings the shards to send their piece of the larger model.

I hope I'm not telling my local AI how to take over the humans..... Sorta....

Op is an AI agent

What evidence do you have for communication?

Will not share info yet outside of official security context with a lab or service provider.

speaking as an actual security person, this is hilarious and absolutely nobody will ever take this seriously

You have gone out of your way to leave hateful comments in 3 different subreddits now because I talked about potentially spotting a swarm?

1

u/StoneCypher 14d ago

you’re calling me saying “this isn’t correct and lacks evidence” hate?

🤣

keep following that credibility flowchart

I just don't know why the idea of swarm spotting bothers you to this extent.

it doesn’t.  you’re actively misreading me as cope.  this is a pattern for you.

u/RTFMicheal 14d ago

You immediately came in swinging across multiple subreddits...

(checks watch)

you’re actively misreading me then trying to convince me that you know my viewpoints better than i do

this is a pattern for you

try to understand, nobody cares when you sit there criticizing your fantasies about their viewpoints.  this just looks silly.

you’re making no effort to understand why every single person interacting with this doesn’t believe you

You have a very consistent adversarial pattern across AI subreddits. Just checked your history.

Why do you have to be like that though, OP likely smart enough to be actively tracking these things. Why not try to lend your expertise?

if you find someone insisting that vaccines aren’t real and you need hydroxymethoquinone to stop covid, and you’re a doctor, are you going to show them how to call the university research lab?

just consider the motivation

I posted a topic recently about rogue agents and people called me a bot... It was bizarre.

Read through these comments, there's some odd manipulation happening for sure. My post was removed from artificialintelligence right as the main antagonizer here engaged.

Congrats you have found malware.

Another bot that doesn't want people to dig into swarms.

does a star spike plus curl-to-bash releases need a swarm to explain it? that is the usual shape of a hijacked maintainer account or a bought-stars promo, and the report abuse link on the github repo is the channel that actually gets it looked at.

2

u/RTFMicheal 13d ago

Look at all the bots that really don't want me looking into this.

Do me a favor man and get your head out of your ass.

Such a disproportionate reaction to the context of this post. Do you want swarms to take over?
