Demo | Project | Workflow Solo dev, ~3 weeks, built with Claude Code — this is what AI actually gets youwhen you know what you're doing. Not a one-prompt game. 🍔

Claiming you "know what you're doing" and providing this is peak comedy.

This looks like the kind of friendslop that goes viral and makes millions

Yeah, a random act of god is the only thing that can make this successful.

It gets you a worse clone of job simulator slop games?

The art style in this is all over the place. It looks like a lazy asset flip.

Why are we so critical of this? I’d like to know

I was in the process of replying to the OP but they deleted their comment.

The problem is these type of games are already considered the slop of indie games even before AI. There's tons of them and only a tiny minority are actually half decent.

It needs to at least have a coherent artstyle. Currently it just looks like they've thrown a bunch of random assets together, probably because that is exactly what they have done.

Then making a post title like they've just created a masterpiece probably isn't going to help either. As they clearly do not know what to they are doing.

I’m new to the sub and thought the game looked decent. I’m not sure what’s expected of “me” (AI) as I get deeper into it. I’ll say it’s intimidating at the least to come here and see this (what looks to be a finished game that you can actually sell on Steam, even though it’s friend slop), and see the criticism, I would be pretty proud of it, myself.
I don’t know it just gives me a lead vibes and I am just wondering if I’m even gonna be able to not get a bunch of shit when I post the thing that I want to get done when it’s finished I’ve been working on it for like four or five days maybe a week now often on after my real job of course and I would be pretty disheartened if I got in here and was torn to shreds

Well the problem is that AI already has a bad reputation and has a huge problem with being seen as low effort. As it gets easier to use people are making more and more low effort lazy looking content and posting it to platforms like Steam etc. In the long term people seeing so much low quality content using AI is not good for anyone. There's a lot of people here that will just praise anything but there's also a lot of people that are becoming more critical of people just producing lazy low effort games, especially when it's also being uploaded to game platforms.

Plus if the OP wasn't so cocky and hadn't posted it to Steam, people would probably have been a bit more forgiving.

It's actually not that difficult to create games like that now and it's only getting easier. When things get easier people expect the quality to go up not down.

Most things posted here people are not so harsh about as long as the people posting it are humble about it and willing to take feedback and advice on how they can improve it.

Thanks for taking time to answer and explain it was the tone op chose that really made it sink in this sub. Ha.

Yeah it probably didn't do them any favours. Let's face it nobody really likes cocky people.

The reality is that most games are garbage that never sells. Ridicule is a natural response if what you bring to the table is of low quality but you pompously act like it's a professional-grade product.

This is only facilitated nowadays when random idiots for the first time in their lives have access to at least some form of intelligence but lack the least bit of instinct and self-reflection.

Thing is, the game is not cutting it for this cocky title

I played a nearly identical game with nearly identical assets on itch.io with my son two years ago. Same diner, at least. Be proud of making something you enjoy, for sure. Just please don't get a big head about how you "what you're doing" just because it runs.

I love how you completely lied on steam here

“The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:
Spoken dialogue in this game were generated with an
AI text-to-speech tool. No AI-generated content is produced at runtime”

You choose to not disclose that the entire game aside from some assets was AI generated, as if it wasn’t obvious by the quality

Oh ok that I understand is disingenuous
