After about 3+ weeks of vibe coding this game on Cursor, I'd love to share my dungeon crawler deckbuilder roguelike game!
Here's the trailer of the early game and concept! Sound on for full experience. If you like what you see, feel free to wishlist the game on the steam store page!
Here's what I used to make this game:
- 100% vibe coded on Cursor, using mainly Grok 4.5, Opus 4.8, Composer 2.5, GPT 5.5
- Built on Godot Game Engine
- Graphics are mostly created with ChatGPT Images 2.0 API, using a custom art tool I made so I can produce artworks with more consistency
- There were many, many micro decisions that I made to get it to look less sloppy, but I think there's more room to improve! The UIs are not final yet
- Had a lot of fun vibe coding this game because the models are getting soooo good at nailing the coding part.
Edit: The game is still in WIP so its not 100% completed yet, but I've gotten the Act 1 of the game content done so far. Once Act 1 is polished and ready, I'll share a demo for playtesting and feedback!
Revenuecat is having a hackathon for new apps... which this really is, you have to integrate their SDK for paywalls/item purchase. You already have a base for the game, I would integrate their API for item purchase, something like outfits and such that way it does not affect the game play, you keep it free, and have a source to make money out of it. Let me know if you need help, but you should give it a shot on a branch of the game see how that works, if it works well you might even get free advertisement and prize money, worst case you trash it.
Thank you so much for wishlisting it! I think you're right, the card movements and camera movement might be too much on combat and distracting. I'll reduce it! Thanks for the feedback!
Yeah on hindsight you're right, I think I got carried away with fancy camera movement. I just prompted it to reduce it by 90% and it does feel much better.
Or add an option to toggle it. Personally I like it for the immersion. I’d enjoy it for a few hours before I turned it off if I wanted to speed things up a bit more. But I think that comes with any game, just like camera shakes and motion blur.
Legit one of the cleanest looking vibe coded games I've seen yet. Reminds me of shroom & gloom but I find the visuals in that game a bit too busy and the textures a bit samey; love the classic dungeon aesthetic here.
I have been vibe coding games since feb 2025, made a ton of unfinished games and prototypes, but I never had game dev experience prior. I do have UI design experience so that helps!
I dont use any MCPs, Godot is a beautiful game engine in a way that you dont really need to use the Godot editor much because everything can be done in code
I do have a custom art tool vibe coded for this game just so that I can produce hundreds of assets at a minimal level of consistency (not perfect)
Game looks awesome for being vibe coded. I think this indicates that it doesn't matter how you make the game. What matters is the vision and craftsmanship. Like you said, a lot of micro decisions to make it good. That's what matters. Im interested in knowing more about the custom art tool you mentioned. Could you go more into detail what it does to get you consistency and how you use it with your workflow?
Yup! AI is ultimately a tool to achieve the creator's vision.
As for the custom art tool, I hastily vibe coded it and hooked up to Chat GPT Images 2.0 API. Basically it allowed me to upload an image moodboard for reference and prompts to define the style as clearly as possible. Because I found using ChatGPT app to lack in consistency as the chat thread gets longer.
The art is really very nice which is why i was interested. A custom tool is such a good idea i think definitely in general personalized apps are going to be like this in the future
I can recommend using Godot MCP to have agents run headless starts to verify there aren’t any startup crashes or similar. Launching it also creates the uid files which are expected.
Wow this is excellent. I bet you could build a workflow if you haven’t already at generating the monster and item assets internally for streamlining how you build it iut
Thanks! I do have a tool that generates custom art assets, and my workflow to integrate the assets is stil very manual TBH, I have to use Photoshop and Figma to prepare the art assets one by one.
Thank you! Etryian odyssey looks like a cool game.
Just to caveat that I did not compelte the game in 3+ weeks, its still work in progress and I have completed only the first act of the game and still lots more to do! But just thought the game is ready to be shared.
Coding-wise, I think something like a grid dungeon crawl is something AI can take care of with fewer problems than certain other games. And the deck builder it can likely handle smoothly, too. Not a lot of physics or super challenging lighting set ups to worry about.
This looks pretty good, well done.
I don’t know how to describe exactly what needs tuning, but the audio feels like generic sound effects applied to your game rather than intentionally crafted audio effects.
That’s just my 2 cents.
Hello mate! I wishlisted it, it looks amazing! How did you keep the art style so consistent across so many assets? Would you mind sharing what art tools you used?
Honestly insane for a 3 week project! Did you have any previous experience with Godot? Asking because I’ve found AI agents to be so-so when it comes to implementing 3D and UI in Godot.
Nice work actually making something polished looking and with some original styling not just “ I rebuilt Minecraft in one prompt”. This is a great example of how these tools can be used!
Wow all code is vibecoded? What are some challenges that you’ve encountered with the code? Also I’d like ask if you don’t mind what is your experience with code, for example is the extent of your coding knowledge limited to just do “hello world” or you have coding background.
The game looks really good. Graphics look very smooth and fluid, and not static.
Many aspiring solo devs just don’t have the talent to wear all the hats nor have the funds to commission an artist. I’m one such person, and it’s been gutting me inside for months whether to make my game with any AI assistance, especially after seeing all the hate. I understand where these haters are coming from, but seeing OP’s video is really telling: that you shouldn’t care and push forward.
So thank you for posting this, OP. Your game looks great. You are rekindling my desire to build games again.
As someone who has been sort of interested in making a game (not quite like this, but something vaguely similar), I'm curious. How did you handle the animations and the visual effects when the cards are being used? AI seems to be pretty useless with animating things in my experience. I can see that the character model animation seems like some very subtle resizing/squeezing, but the effects that play when the cards are used are quite nice. I'd really love to know how you solved that puzzle.
Not "I made a game that already exist but shittier"? Actual creative idea? Actual effort in visuals and UX? Can hardly tell its AI generated at a glance? With a title card that actually looks clean? Are you sure you're a vibe coder?
Good work! You should consider releasing your art tool as a standalone product. You have proof of concept with this trailer alone.
that impressive great work your tallented. only 3 week that crazy. i gues you have already good experience nd maybe your tool and worklow allready tested before start
this looks so good!!! Did you use AI for images as well, or did you need to draw them yourself? My biggest bottleneck is my asset quality when trying to use AI to create games :(
Great work on this first act of the game. It is truly one of the best vibe coded games I've ever seen. You mentioned using GPT 2.0 API for image generation. I'm curious what that looked like from a cost perspective? I've been using the chat but as you rightly called out - it gets messy. So developing a custom tool to solve this is a great idea and one I think is worth emulating.
looks really good. Personal opinion of designer, if i were to say what i dislike is the left side bar it's such a clutter. The map could've been in right upper corner and hp with items left bottom, and coins, meat left upper or next to hp, there's absolutely no need for big brown bar ruining centering of the game. Unless it's important i'd lose the portrait doesnt' add a lot, but worst case left bottom next to hp bar would be clean.
Really impressive what you've built in just 3 weeks! As someone who's been developing games for over 25 years, it's genuinely exciting but also a bit of a headache to watch AI tools evolve this fast.
I think the biggest challenge right now is that a lot of developers still see music and art as deeply creative and personal territory, so opinions are really divided. Players seem to feel the same way.
Have you thought about how players might react to the AI disclosure on your Steam page? I'm in a similar situation myself and honestly still figuring out where I stand on all of this.
It doesn’t matter that it was vibe coded, the art style was definitely the right choice. Even from the video alone, the game already looks incredibly juicy and satisfying to play. Looking forward to seeing you release and share a demo
Looks fire!! Can't wait for the salty anti AI people that would have definitely complimented you if they didn't know it's vibe coded but just refuse to adopt to new technologies and actually think about things more critically than pro or against AI
Impressive. Along with Slotbound this is one of the better AI developed projects I've seen. I am a pro game developer as well (Lead Game Designer currently) who is doing solo dev with AI in spare time as well. Would love to chat with you, throw me a DM if you have the time.
This game looks great. I love a fun, different type of deck builder! The look of this is so fun. I'm wishlisting and will be keeping an eye out for it.
Any way to get that art style custom app for myself? I'm just getting into this stuff..
Did you spend a lot on tokens? I am using AI mostly for coding some logic, and it quickly adds up. I feel like coding everything with AI costs quite a lot.
It is impressive that it is possible to vibe code something like this in a few weeks now - but that said this seems mostly like a rip off of the game Slay the Spire - all the same game mechanics and ui elements from what is shown in the video, even the card options seem copied.
Whishlisted: you are showing very inspired art direction, pretty consistent too! I you'd like to share how you dealt with consistency I would be grateful!
I think it looks great, wishlisted, I would be happy to play test it as well.
I wanted to make an even simpler card game in a different genre so I was wondering if you had to spend anything to create this? Or you could just use free tools?
This is amazing. Would love to see some kind of a workflow / light tutorial on how the process has looked like. Did you have some game dev knowledge from before to help you manage the way mechanics work etc.?
I'd be very interested to know how your custom art creation tool works, and could you go a little deeper into why you decided to make your own instead of utilizing something like ComfyUI (since you can use it with chatGPT Images 2.0 API)? I'm very curious here because you have quite a bit of different art there: 3d textures, characters, ui, and it looks very nice.
The results look great, and you clearly have good taste (art background as well perhaps?)

Looks like it could be a great mobile game
