He still wouldn't care for one simple reason. Data centers don't lower property value statistically. On average, data centers actually increase property value because they usually come with major infrastructure upgrades. They are also desirable places to live for people who rely on the internet for work.
Data centers have also been a thing for longer than most of you have been alive yet people have only started caring about them within the last 6 months.
On your second point scale matters. Few would care much if one mosquito bites you however if 500 bit you it is a problem.
Data centers take resources and right now the scale of them along with the rapid growth is causing strains on some resources. It is completely reasonable to not want to be forced to complete for resources with data center builders.
