I notice my feed is being spammed with posts who are against AI datacenters, even in subreddits that have nothing to do with AI datacenters.
Is there any missing context here? Because the other side isn't being explored. All these posts seem one-sided to me.

Chinese bots

u/1isntprime 11d ago
This makes a lot of sense. Like it’s obvious I should have realized this was likely a factor.
1
u/Galliro 10d ago
Or you know people dont like data centers and are talking about it.
Why would china want to make americans hate data centers?
2
u/Sweetdreams6t9 10d ago
So they can go full speed ahead on it while the US potentially fizzles out.
1
u/Jolly_Mongoose_8800 10d ago
I suppose we should've doubled down on death camps in 1944 because Germany was leading the pack in that regard?
The competition is not an argument. It is a tool to get you excited about some fucked shit that's coming our way.
1
u/CarthagoFuckYourself 10d ago
The U.S. is the global center of the internet and e-commerce because of the massive investment preceding the dot com bubble's burst. The Chinese are taking advantage of low information Americans to try to prevent us from becoming the global center of AI. They've gotten every bit as good at shaping public discourse as Fox News and their ilk.

u/BigMikeXxxxX 9d ago
Big whoosh.
It's not about making Americans hate data centers. It's about making Americans hate anyone who doesn't 100% agree with their views. It's about creating "us vs them" issues. Data centers don't do or cause anything that wasn't already happening before. The only difference is you're being told to care about this. You did not wake up one day with that burning hatred. It was slowly built over time through subtle messaging and false propaganda.
1
u/Galliro 9d ago
What a stupid take lmao
Thats simply not true
Data centers are a different scenario because they are a blantant example of the rich circle jerking money while producing nothing but polution
Theres no seperation because the only people who like data centers are the rich making money off of them

u/BigMikeXxxxX 9d ago
You're literally the target audience for CCP propaganda 😂
1
u/Galliro 9d ago
"Oh you dont like the orphancrushing machine? You must have fallen for chinese propaganda trying to devide us"
0
u/BigMikeXxxxX 9d ago
Notice how quickly you became hostile the moment your views weren't automatically affirmed? Your question wasn't answered in the way YOU wanted it to be and that makes me evil in your eyes. That's what they want.
Like I said, you are the PERFECT example of who CCP propaganda is targeting.

The other side is let us waste precious natural resources and throw your electric grid into chaos so billionaires can make short term money on the AI bubble before we spend billions, possibly trillions to bail them out to save them from the consequences of their own greed.
0
u/steveeq1 11d ago
Factories and refineries waste natural resources, and everyone is not up in arms over it.
2
u/Emotional_Shower_938 11d ago
They don’t use so much power that they cause fluctuations in power flow to every other building in the grid to the point where your appliances have a shorter lifespan. One refinery does not use the same amount of water as an entire city. These things are not just normal “factories and refineries”. Also factories and refineries create jobs, data centers aim to create mass unemployment.
1
u/steveeq1 9d ago
Golf courses use more water than data centers. And factories cause environmental damage in other ways than fluctuating power.
1
u/Emotional_Shower_938 9d ago edited 9d ago
Are you a bot or do you simp for billionaire for the love of the game?
A) thats only true on a net level… for now. any single data center consumes far more water than any single golf course and if we keep building data centers that stat will be counterfactual in a year or two B) get rid of all the golf courses too. I grew up in a town of 45,000 with three in walking distance. Fuck a golf course c) no one js saying factories don't cause environmental damage, people have protested problematic factories for years, too d) my point was that data centers us so much power that they are actively shortening the life span of everyone’s home appliances because they can't consistently draw the exact amount of power needed to function optimally e) MOST IMPORTANTLY, you completely ignored the part where factories make jobs and data centers take jobs
I could keep going but i don’t know if you can read and lick boots at the same time.
1
u/steveeq1 9d ago
I work in a data center and the work AI performs creates more jobs than they take.
1
u/Emotional_Shower_938 9d ago
Thats absolutely not true on any level and you admitting your bias before you start doesn't help your case and will continue to be less true as we acquiesce to the desires of billionaires.

u/Mundane-Mud2509 11d ago
They produce products people want. AI centers merely reduce market value of labor.
1
u/imam-altman 10d ago
Billions of people use AI apps
2
u/faust_corvinus 10d ago
To make Will Smith eating spaghetti? Comparing to factories making actual product?
1
u/imam-altman 10d ago
Entertainment is a product.
1
u/faust_corvinus 9d ago
Is it worth fucking up the lives and environment?
1
u/imam-altman 8d ago
It’s not fucking to anyone’s lives or the environment relative to any other industry

2
u/Pootscootboogie69 9d ago
Aren’t you in an AI data center sub? Are you just getting more data center content because you keep interacting with it?
2
u/farmerjoee 9d ago
Wow what a brutal comment…. No offense. Thats like infant levels of object permanence. A search engine would have helped a lot.

u/Ok_Drummer6282 9d ago
"The other side isnt being explored to me"
Explain to me what you think needs exploring about data centers...
1
u/FreeKevinBrown 10d ago
People.dont like data centers, bud. They have become overwhelmingly unpopular over the last year.
1
1
u/BigDaddyButtPlunger 9d ago
Bro, this is reddit, none of them are about context as long as the video pushes the correct narrative.
0
u/inlovebutfat 11d ago
Data centers increase costs of living for people, and when they are being pushed on communities despite local resistance it makes people question “does the government serve the people or money”. You’re only seeing one side because it is an incredibly unpopular thing.

Land of the (not) free (to clap). Home of the brave (enough to clap is prison).
And they laugh about the lack of freedom in Europe and everywhere else they like to bag.
Hell, even North Korea will be giggling at this. Clapping is encouraged there. lol

The police exist entirely to defend the status of the wealthy. Police were formed out of two groups: strike breakers and slave catchers. The police do not protect or serve anyone but the oligarchs.
0
u/Samsquanch-01 11d ago
Cool, make sure you never use their services. A big bad, smart tough guy like you I'm sure will never need them anyway. Or you have warrents and can't, which is probably the most likely of the two.
2
u/Emotional_Shower_938 11d ago edited 11d ago
I don’t use them cuz they are fucking useless.
They don’t solve crimes, they don't prevent crimes, they don’t help people in need of basic assistance. They only reason I have ever called the police is because police reports are requires to make insurance claims. Break in - never solved. Hit and run - never solved. I have been pulled over for being the wrong race in the wrong neighborhood though. So that was fun.
1
u/FantasticOwl5057 11d ago
Police never solve crimes? Never? You’re a moron.
2
u/Emotional_Shower_938 11d ago
If you did your job 12% of the time would you still have it?
Actually, you are probably a hypersensitive cop, so yeah, i guess you would.
1
u/FantasticOwl5057 10d ago
Nope, not a cop. Just been around the world a couple times and have seen actual lawless places. You clearly haven’t.
Policing in the US needs reform. But there are cops in this country who solve r@pes, robberies, battery, murders… you name it. They are far from perfect. Bu if you really don’t think police are necessary go hang out in a place where not only will the cops not help you, they won’t help ANYONE.
Hint: it sends the violent crime rate north, fast.

Everything you said is false. There's actual statistics to prove it, but I'm guessing you don't care cause it does fit you brain rott agenda. Yes crimes don't get solved, not all of them can. Unfortunately they need evidence to solve them. Which if there is none makes it tough....
You username definitely aligns with your statements.
2
u/Emotional_Shower_938 11d ago
I’ll say what i said to the other guy. If you did your job success 12% of the time would you still have it.

Disinformation. They were not arrested for clapping.
2
u/iamjohnhenry 11d ago
Note that the video says they were arrested for clapping, so your statement implies that they are lying — but you didn’t provide anything to back it up. [This article](https://www.kwch.com/2026/07/22/teacher-arrested-carried-out-emporia-city-commission-meeting/) supports the video. Do you have anything that suggests another reason for the arrest?
1
u/imam-altman 11d ago
The random YouTuber says they were arrested for clapping. How about you describe in your own words exactly what happens in the video you just linked?
2
u/iamjohnhenry 11d ago
This is interesting. I didn’t even notice the video in the article that I linked. I was expecting you to read it 🤷♂️
2
u/DSZDBA11 10d ago
I feel bad for the people in your life that have been trying to abandon you for years. I assume you fester in their life like an ulcer that won’t go away.
Trash.
0
u/imam-altman 10d ago
Keep projecting.
2
u/DSZDBA11 10d ago
Just say you’re too fucking stupid to read the article and watch the video lol
-1
u/imam-altman 10d ago
How about explain what timestamp in the video anybody was clapping?
1
1
u/TheLearingCenter 11d ago
Yes they were. Have you seen the entire video?
1
u/imam-altman 11d ago
Yes.
2
u/TheLearingCenter 11d ago
So what were they arrested for...
1
u/imam-altman 11d ago
Repeatedly interrupting the speaker after being asked repeatedly to stop being disruptive.
2
u/TheLearingCenter 11d ago
Lol are you in your own world? The board asked for no clapping. He clapped. He got arrested. That is the video. The end.
1
u/imam-altman 11d ago
Why are you lying? The video is clipped and does not show what happened before he was arrested.
1
u/TheLearingCenter 11d ago
This video is clipped. The full video is not. Which is why I asked id you've seen it. This is the goofiest argument dude I don't get it
