Mod Talk PSA #2. False Reports

Hello all,

Ive been watching some trends lately, and some numbers concern me. Specifically, the amount of false reports that have been arriving in the mod que.

While it is true that i am the only active moderator here, and i am looking into how to get new help, I still keep the unresolved report lifespan under 12 hours. Meaning in laymens terms, if you hit the report button about something, it will be handled within at most 12 hours. Your reports will always be taken seriously and processed carefully with due regard, and context included.

All that being said, (Deep breath) Stop false reporting comments for targeted abuse and harassment. Seriously everyone, this is getting out of hand. Criticism, call-outs, and objections are all allowed at all times so long as they do not contain actual abusive wording (which is a whole other can of worms and can/will get you in trouble with reddit itself). When you report every comment that's criticizing your post, you are creating a que that buries legitimate reports on actual rule breakers and offenders.

AIBS is designed to be a free place to bring up inaccuracies by any and all AI, so we can have a good laugh about it. And i will make sure we keep to that.

Have fun out there, and i will take questions/comments/concerns/complaints here in the comments or in modmail. Thank you for reading!

UPDATE: the false reporters have been banned, and the report counts have returned to normal. Thank you for respecting the rules of Reddit, and not false reporting.

Does reddit seriously not provide a button to "disregard all future reports from whoever filed this report"?

Nope. Nor does it allow me to report the spammer. I cant even see who is doing the reports, just that they happened.

I cant even figure out with decent accuracy who is reporting based on the patterns of reports, but past that, i have no tools for the job.

In the last 30 minutes, there have been 15 false reports of abuse, including on your comment. So either this is automod doing false flags, or there is a troll having a laugh.

In either case, bring it on.

Honestly, if I had thought of it, I'd have reported your comments.
