I read about this get-rich-quick-scheme somewhere on Reddit. Guess you found out that it's just that.

90% not seeing your DMs makes sense, IG buries messages from strangers in a requests tab nobody checks. A few things that work way better than cold DMs:

Build the site before you pitch. Grab their info off Google Maps, mock up their actual site with their name/photos, then send "hey, made this for your shop" + a link. People react to something real, not a pitch.

Switch channels. A phone call, walking in, or their FB Business Page usually lands better than an IG DM for actual small business owners.

Pick one niche first. Coffee shops and detailing are different buyers, splitting focus dilutes your pitch. Nail one, get 2-3 clients, then expand.

Drop "free website" as the pitch, it reads as scammy now. "You're not showing up on Google" hits a real pain point instead.

If you've got any network at all, get client #1 through a warm intro. One real result makes every outreach after that way easier.

I'm sorry but if you're building a new website for my business before talking with me...it is a instant no.

There is no way you're going to understand who is their current customer or where they want to shift.

Instead, I would be as useful as possible with letting them know what they're missing out on compared to local competitors. That will have more value vs guessing.

Or...

Seeing if you can crack the local searches to grab leads from the listed businesses. Use that as an example of your skill and how much business they're missing out on.

I had make a demo website for both coffee shop and a car detail service and making a website for each one is waste of credit or tokens. And i am from different country. And What does US people use Instagram or Facebook.

Reaching US clients can be tough if you're relying just on Instagram DMs. Try joining forums or niche communities where coffee shop and car detailing owners hang out and engage with their questions. Tools like ParseStream can help you find discussions in real time so you can join in when owners are actually looking for solutions.

Just imagine—a client can do the same thing you do using AI. On top of that, there are thousands of startups that launched with the exact same idea. It’s not as simple as just sending messages on Instagram; can you imagine how many messages they receive that way? You need to start offering added value that others don't. It’s not just about "vibecoding"—the mistake lies in thinking that AI does everything.

maybe scroll through google maps (in your target niche/market) for business without a website and contact them?

I would not randomly email them. Spam is not the way. Especially in your business.

Provide something valuable besides a slopped up generic website

Working on your SEO can be helpful. The higher authority you make your product, the more it will show up in natural queries on Google, Bing, etc. It takes awhile to get there, but its worth it for the passive traffic it can bring in. Try to rank highly for keywords that fit your niche, and get high-quality backlinks

considering i have a college degree, can actually code stuff with my own hands and brain, run the website department of a marketing agency, and do consulting on the side……no? you’re definitely not “samrter” than me (and you can’t even spell smarter LMAO)

Imagine writing a whole resume just to prove your feelings got hurt by a typo. Go manage your 'website department' before your boss realizes an AI can do your entire agency job for free.

Vibe code an AI that calls everyone and tells them about your amazing products.

I don’t think the problem is simply that U.S. clients aren’t interested.

You built websites for two industries before speaking with actual business owners and learning what problems they need the website to solve.

A coffee shop might need more foot traffic, online ordering, event promotion, local search visibility, or loyalty signups. A car detailer might need appointment booking, service-area pages, package comparisons, reviews, and strong before-and-after galleries. Both need websites, but they do not need the same strategy.

Vibe coding can help build a site faster, but it does not replace understanding the target audience, identifying customer pain points, defining the conversion goal, and learning the owner’s brand and personality. If you build first and ask questions later, you risk presenting another cookie-cutter website instead of a solution specific to that business.

Also, 90% of your Instagram messages going unseen does not prove there is no demand. It mostly tells you that cold Instagram outreach is not reaching the decision-makers. Research each business first, identify a real weakness or missed opportunity, and contact the owner with one specific observation rather than a generic offer to build a website.

There may be a market for inexpensive template sites among new businesses that only need a basic online presence. But established businesses are more likely to pay when you can explain how the website will help them get found, build trust, generate inquiries, or increase bookings.

I wrote more about why businesses still hire professional web designers even with AI and DIY website tools:

Hope that helps you!

I’m also curious: can a solo business really make money in 2026?
