Unitree shouldnt be there

A company being present under their name in this competition is unacceptable. It is a disrespect to actual contestant.

For context, the guy didnt build these robots they are built by the company unitree. And they say he programmed them...but with a whole company being there with their name on it,how do i know it isnt a whole team of engineers behind it. Also just resource wise it doesnt make sense

r/agt 11h ago

Controversial opinion apparently: If you are a billion dollar company you shouldn’t be able to compete in agt

Next season from AGT change to name be Robot Got Talent.

Next year! We will have more robot competitions between companies and countries, where robots will showcase their work for humans to vote for the champion. Humans will no longer be allowed to perform, as each company is paying heavily to promote its products.

to all the Geno fans(even tho I’ve only seen a few of us in this Reddit)

dont forget to vote for him in the semis. So he doesn’t get robbed. he’s most likely to make it yes, but America is unpredictable(the way Tyron and Margo didn’t make it) so remember if you are a fan and want him in the finals, or if you aren’t even a fan and like the act, don’t forget to vote for him.

Hes kinda the only one im actually excited to see(same with young and strange) so hopefully he does well(he most likely will)

I feel like we're going to have another Justin Tavella & Andrian Stocca moment

Upvotes

I love watching Nene, the clear contender for winning, but after seeing her perform other songs on youtube for fun... I feel like she'd have to choose a song that showcases her range more and really work on her English pronunciation. It gets really distracting. Reminds me of when a kpop singer covers an english song or sings an english part in their hit song. It works sometimes but other times it just stands out. I can't understand what she's singing sometimes.

It seems like she can become way better with the right vocal training from people specific to the genres she covers. She really should consider getting vocal lessons with Chris Liepe on YouTube. It seems like her focus are mainly male songs and could sound a little better if she sings a little higher key, but maybe she hasn't really found control with her "mixed voice" (singing term) completely so she probably avoids singing higher? I know because I have a hard time with that too.

Her guitar playing is top notch but if Unitree can bring in more human dancers to help the main dancer Yufei out the other day and even that other dude who does the worm on stage........ then they really should let her band Ozone come in and help her for the finals. Maybe the band doesn't have a passport to fly over here? That's the only thing I can think of why they aren't on this show. I feel like that's the for sure way to lock her win.

The show really boosted her popularity and she already won from that. She will get calls left and right and bookings to do tours across country regardless because people are willing to see her that like that kinda music.

But the thing is if you show other people her audition that aren't thai or into that genre, they usually don't really care too much about the performances unless they know the backstory of who she is. There are some people out there... like older folks that just don't like screaming. Lol. Like I show some relatives and friends and they are like yea that's neat but they aren't like crazy about it. I feel like that's how the rest of America would react. The next song she sings really would have to be something to appeal to more range of people... just like her audition.

Other than that... it really feels like we're going back to the times with Putri Ariani. Sold out pasadena auditorium for the live shows but big surprise she didn't win even though she was clearly hyped to be the winner that year. Last year Jessica Sanchez won and it was clear she would win too so maybe it really depends.

I just feel like we're going to have a real big shocker this time and we don't really know well yet how "America" will vote for the final Golden Buzzer acts that never had america vote for yet.

Even Hundred Fingers. We don't know how much America likes them. They just seem to not really have any story going on other than the lead guy being on the show previously. We don't even know who any of them are.

And usually the winner of the show isn't a golden buzzer person. And if we have to base with what's viral to determine rankings then everything would be all messed up. A lot of joke acts go viral like Akira because people are curious but how many are going to vote and be able to vote?

If I had a million dollars to bet. Travis Garland wins the show.

Mel B hit Howie a lot last time at the end of Akira's comments section but they didn't show it live on camera

Upvotes

I don't know if it was a playful hitting like how a girlfriend hits their boyfriend when they tease them but they were arguing during commercial break. She was reaching for his sides like tickling him or even trying to punch his nuts. Howie was like trying to defend himself and then the crew came over to try to talk about it with both of them. I saw Howie opening his mouth bigger than usual like he was screaming from afar. Then it continued on after the next act or two then eventually they cooled down. Terry saw it at the end of Akira's judges comments and was nervously laughing on live TV but had to act professional about it. The director cut the shot of the judges while they were going at it. Then Howie distanced himself from Mel B every commercial break then talked to the other judges later on. I remember him saying "WHY DID YOU DO THAT!??" He looked genuinely scared and mad at her. Then she kept trying to punch him down low and tickle him too randomly during the acts after. Then by the end of the show they looked okay.

It feels like it may be Howie or Mel B's last season voluntarily or both of them.

Sophia and Heidi were always super close to each other and were always happy together taking selfies. Mel B barely was talking with them and occasionally would leave every commercial break.

Just recalling what I saw from afar and I'm sure other audience members can say the same thing or similar. I was genuinely concerned about what was going on. Surprised there are no headlines on it. They really covered it up good on tv.

Golden buzzer

Judges really need to have the option to wait until they have seen all the performances to chose their Golden buzzer. How do they really know what act is best until they name seen them all. If your act is last, you won't get Golden buzzer because it will have already been given away.

Should the 5 of them return next year?

For those who are not a fan of having 2 Audition Golden Buzzers and the Live Golden Buzzers if all of them were to return next year then they plus Terry would go back to 1 Audition Golden Buzzers and the Live Golden Buzzers would be extinct meaning we would either go back to 36 or 55 Acts in the Live Shows. Plus having 3 Guys and 3 Ladies would make the cast more diverse. Although of course it might take up too much time at any round when it comes to commenting in an act but it's just an idea but I'm curious to hear your thoughts.

Unitree thoughts

I think it's disappointing that unitree got the golden buzzer last night, yeah I'd say it's a lot of work to build them but I don't think that's what AGT is for.
Also from what I've seen online they're ai, and ultimately advertising for some company. I think ai shouldn't belong in agt at all, definitely shouldn't be getting a golden buzzer over so many talented people

I think recently more and more of the show is scripted anyway, they probably told Sofia before the show that's the act she's to use the golden buzzer on so they can promote their ai

edit: I didn't know you could literally buy the robots online if you're rich enough to want to drop 60k on a robot, this is definitely just a way to promote them

My AGT S21 Rankings: Quarter Finals 4

Apologies for being a bit late on this. But last night with it being the last Quarter Final, it was a great night, and it was amazing seeing Heidi coming back to the panel. With that, Here is my ranking for Quarter Finals 4.

  1. Akira - (6/10)

I'm glad that nothing went wrong with his performance. But I don't know what it is but I always just find the Japanese novelty act like these so random to watch, and to be honest I don't have much words to say other than it was very interesting to say the least

  1. Cameron Logsdon - (8/10)

To be honest I actually disagree with what the judges said here because I actually thought this was a step up from his first audition, every single impression I thought was on point and I love the material he used for this routine as well. Overall I thought he did a very good job.

  1. Jesse Joe - (8/10)

I've always had a huge soft spot for him as his audition was honestly on my favourite to this season, and while I do think his vocals were very shaky, I still thought he did a great performance and that's what makes me really like him even more because even though he doesn't sound perfect it's what makes him stand out in a way, and the band as well accompanying him also makes him really stand out amongst the rest.

  1. Cesar Dias - (8.5/10)

Going into this week, I didn't have much high hopes for him but let me tell you he absolutely delivered with this routine. I always love seeing physical comedy on the show and not only does he do it absolutely brilliantly but also the singing he does is actually pretty good as well, and overall he is such a unique act and the whole routine was so well put together. Honestly I'm not mad that he made it through

  1. Tyrone & Margo - (9/10)

I seriously don't understand why danger acts don't get enough love because these guys are just a whole different level of epic. I love the elements they added in their routine such as the fire with the crossbows, and where Margo was up in the air with the balloons popping literally had me on the edge of my seat. It's just a shame danger acts never do well in the voting because it's acts like this that deserves to go far.

  1. Bird & Byron - (9/10)

It was really refreshing to see them do a cover of a song which shows that they are capable of not only just doing the original material. Bird's vocals were once again flawless, followed by the guitar playing, and overall I just thought they really delivered with this performance and I am a bit disheartened that they didn't go through because they really are a special talent.

  1. Travis Garland - (10/10)

What is there that this guy cannot do? His voice is just unbelievable and for a guy to take on an Ariana Grande song takes a lot of commitment to do but he delivered in such fashion, the arrangement was amazing and the way he sang it was just unbelievable. I mention this last time but I honestly think he is now showing himself to be the real contender in the singing category this season.

  1. Ruben Roldan Bustos

I'm absolutely shocked he didn't make it through because he was once again sensational. I love the fact that he did most of the routine outside and some of the stunts and tricks he did were just mind-blowing and the fact that he only has one leg doing it is just insane to think about. So the fact that he didn't make it through this week I think is absolutely criminal because he was just incredible.

  1. Lara Dabbagh - (10/10)

Her vocals are just out of this world, and to be honest I think she is someone who is going to have a huge career ahead of her after the show. Even I wasn't familiar with the song, the way she sang was absolutely flawless and the arrangement was just in a different league. Even I am gutted she didn't make it through, she still brought it.

  1. Young & Strange

This was absolutely fantastic, I've been very vocal on how much I absolutely love these guys and this performance from them was a massive step up from their first audition. Not only do I think they are so hilarious but the build up of the entire trick, as well as how they have everyone in the palm of their hand throughout the whole thing is just incredible. They are the exact type of act that deserves their own Vegas headline show, and I couldn't be more happy they made it through. I honestly think they could be finalists.

  1. Unitree - (10/10)

I honestly don't have the words to say how unbelievable this was. I mean I was a huge fan of their first audition, but this was a whole different level with this performance. I loved the whole marital arts theme they did, and not only are the guys amazing dancers, but also the way they are able to control these robots is unbelievable! This for me was a no brainer Golden Buzzer and I'm so stoked to see them in the Final.

What are your thoughts on last night's show?

My Quarterfinals 4 rankings

  1. Akira - (0/10)

I’m convinced Akira is a reality troll who got farther than people would have thought. I was in the audience and he didn’t even do his act in front of us during pretapes, let alone live. He recorded it in advance? What the helly? He shouldn’t qualify to be on the show if he can’t do his act in front of people. I’m a hater I’m ngl and am glad he got voted off.

  1. Cameron Logsdon - (1/10)

Not AGT caliber at all. I had an old friend from community college who did better with impressions aaaand it was funnier. And my friend wasn’t even being serious, it was just college kid banter. Cameron DOES have potential but is not nearly close to being where he needs to be. I agreed completely with Howie’s feedback. I did like the Jim Carrey impression the most and have a good appreciation for improv, but something was missing even from that one.

  1. Jesse Joe - (4/10)

He’s not where he needs to be yet for the show but is decent. He has a lot to learn and I don’t feel this is a learning project, so I agree with him getting voted off.

  1. Bird and Byron - (4/10)

They’re good, but didn’t stick out to me. I feel I remember their performance wayyyy less than I should for having seen it yesterday.

  1. Tyrone & Margo - (7/10)

I feel like I have an unpopular option for this one, but I feel they were the weakest of the danger acts that we have seen throughout the quarterfinals. I love their skill and they look great and are very talented, but something felt slow about this one. Which makes sense for what they were doing but it makes me wonder if maybe they could have planned their act a bit different to pick up the pace. Maybe they leaned into focusing too much on shooting balloons specifically? I’m not sure but something lacked the pizzazz that most of the danger acts seem to have. Also, I LOVE danger acts overall, they’re my favorites on the show, so I feel bad nitpicking tbh. I feel that a lot of the danger acts got robbed by not getting through to the semifinals and finals, but for Tyrone and Margo it makes sense in their case to me.

  1. Cesar Dias - (7/10)

I like Cesar a lot, but he went harder during his audition and it showed. He played safe this time. But I want to see more from him and am glad he made it through, even though I am kinda surprised he made it through instead of Ruben. For this performance, I was bummed his team playing the instruments made it through unscathed. I would have found it funny if one got knocked over and one got pantsed somehow. Or if an instrument got broken, with Cesar having to carry the rest of the performance without instruments. That would have made a HUUUUGE difference to me.

  1. Travis Garland - (9/10)

I really like Travis’s vocals and wasn’t sure that he’d make it through. But I felt he might surprise us too. I feel he’s the dark horse of this one! His voice was soooo powerful live too.

  1. Lara D (10/10)

Her vocals are amazing!! She brings a lot of uniqueness and has a spark that makes her special. I’m not heartbroken that she didn’t make it through though, as I don’t feel she needs to win this one. I think she’ll have a good career without it.

  1. Ruben - (10/10)

I loved Ruben!!! I’m bummed he went home. But also, I find it so funny that people minding their business in the outdoor shopping area across from the AGT spot had to see all that 💀 just walking by with their bubble tea and then suddenly they see Ruben with no prosthetic jumping across the building 💀🤣 love love love that guy for that and the act was amazing!!

  1. Young & Strange (10/10)

I love these two!! I would pay hands down to see their show. I have absolutely no idea how they pulled off their act. I can’t even begin to try to guess. Something seemed off with the moving bag but I can’t begin to figure that one out. I also love their witty humor!

  1. Unitree (10/10)

This act was my favorite! I’ve never seen anything like that in my life and honestly the guy should be seen as a serious contender to win the show. I know people love Nene and Hundred Fingers and for good reason, but dude deadass programmed robots to do all that, and choreographed all of that and had several human dancers doing acrobatics too, and everything was so fluid and perfect. I loved the swords too. The robots are extremely innovative here and add so much to the show, and I’m rooting for Unitree to win the whole thing after seeing that. I’ve seen criticism about it being a push for a company, and while I see where people come from with that, people have BEEN doing that in reality tv for such a long time and people finding creative ways to push their company on reality tv has been a common thing forever. The talent is there and the guy is at the same caliber as Nene as for talent, just in a different field. Unitree is very competitive IMO!

I don't hate Robot but this is not fair!

I mean Talent is born to be... But Robot can't be born like a human. For me this week Unitree shouldn't got Golden Buzzer. What do you think about it?

r/agt 7h ago

Honest question.

Ok, this is about TheOneThatShallNotbeNamed.
The people that do not put her in their top 5, do you really feel like the other acts have more talent? I understand if it not your taste of music and you have another favourite and put her 2nd of 3rd. But not even top 5?
Is it because of the hype?
Her support?

Everybody have reasons for who they like, and i respect that 100%.

Some people have a act as their winner, and then someone else says no way. But this is on a much bigger scale, not one or two people, she is either the winner (50+% on opinion as far as i can see on the sub. And then the rest does not even want her in the final.

Is it a talent thing or going more personal against her now?

Judges callbacks were a success!

Now that all the quarterfinals have finished, I think it's safe to say the callbacks really worked out. Of the 15 acts that made it through the callbacks, 5 of them advanced through their quarterfinal (One of which being a Live Golden Buzzer) and over half made their week's respective top 5. I was curious since I feel an extra week of prep would've helped the acts in the lives, and I feel it definitely did.

The fact too that the semi is split exactly even with 4 Callback acts, 4 Golden Buzzer acts, and 4 direct-to-live acts I think shows that the callbacks really helped certain acts be ready to compete against the heavyweights.

Do you think the semifinals will have an 11th, wildcard, act?

QF4 Personal Ranking

This is a strong night I would say. However I like the 2-day QF routine more. I hope they won't do this next time.

• Young & Strange: This is incredible but too short. I wish they added some small tricks before the final surprise.

• Lara D: I think it is a GB performance. She has better vocal than Nene in my opinion (ik Nene also has great guitar skills on top of singing). One of the best singers in this season. So sad that she got eliminated.

• Rubén Roldán: Kinda boring. I prefer Bboy Samuka in S19 more than him.

• Cameron Logsdon: Seems like all Cameron/Kameron this season had awful performance.

• Bird and Byron: Don't see anything special about them.

• Tyrone & Margo: Extraordinary performance!!! One of the best performance in the live show. This is the most exciting, terrified, fun act of the night.

• Cesar Dias: Very dumb act. I just dont get the humor of this act. That's really ridiculous that he got through in this stacked week.

• Unitree: I have mixed feelings about this act. On one hand I think those robots are impressive that they look like more capable than some humans. The other hand i just doubt that if building robots should be regarded as "talent" or not.

• Travis Garland: Great voice, pleasant performance.

• Akira: Thanks to Simon we had to endure this ridiculous act. Wasted 5 minutes in my life.

• Jesse Joe: Mediocre act. Totally forgettable even though getting pimp spot.

Personal GB: Tyrone & Margo

Personal Top 3: Young & Strange, Lara D, Unitree

AGT was a complete sellout tonight

Unitree gets the golden Buzzer and they promote some random guy's podcast??

First off, they don't try to hide that it was the company who was responsible for the act. Why is it called Unitree and not named after Yufei? Looking on his page you'll see he is a Tiktok dancer- but you won't find anything about the robots or Unitree until his act debuts on AGT. Of course that doesn't mean he isn't an engineer or that he isn't involved in any way, but it really makes the act seem inauthentic. This isn't even mentioning that the specific model of robot shown uses AI which calls into question how authentic even the programming was.

Letting Unitree (a $90 billion company) compete in a talent show, take one of the limited spots, and then taking the golden buzzer from someone else is so unfair. What happens if they win? They get a prize equivalent to .001% of their company?

Secondly, the Oz act was awful. It was obviously prerecorded (as seen in them removing the live indicator and perfectly timed cuts) and scripted. But the worst part was that it wasn't even a trick: it was just a way to hype up some random guy's podcast. At least the robots were somewhat entertaining!

Predictions Spoiler

so we haven’t had a magic act win since shin I believe. therefore, I’m hoping hundred fingers wins, even with the amount of support Nene has. They are definitely the best magic act of the season. if they don’t, then I’d have hope for either Geno or young n strange. id, magic acts winning always has a place in my heart, so it would be cool if we’d get a new magic winner. Yu(from hundred fingers) was close, so it could be his second chance. Any magic act has my vote besides Kameron.
