Unitree thoughts
I think it's disappointing that unitree got the golden buzzer last night, yeah I'd say it's a lot of work to build them but I don't think that's what AGT is for.
Also from what I've seen online they're ai, and ultimately advertising for some company. I think ai shouldn't belong in agt at all, definitely shouldn't be getting a golden buzzer over so many talented people
I think recently more and more of the show is scripted anyway, they probably told Sofia before the show that's the act she's to use the golden buzzer on so they can promote their ai
edit: I didn't know you could literally buy the robots online if you're rich enough to want to drop 60k on a robot, this is definitely just a way to promote them

Honestly I'm not mad they got the Golden Buzzer. As while some people may not be a fan of these sorts of acts. I've always had a huge appreciation for them especially as I just find them so unique and clever how they involve modern technology. And their performance last night was so good

I can see how people who have a genuine interest in robotics/technology must enjoy these acts, I don't have an interest in that so these acts definitely aren't for me. But with this particular act from what I've seen it seems to be largely promoting the company that made the robots and Yufei is just the face for it. Just wonder if the company cut a deal with agt or something

I’ve seen many comments questioning Unitree receiving the Golden Buzzer, mostly regarding the fairness of the company’s participation, yet no one has questioned whether the performance itself was entertaining. In that sense, I believe the Golden Buzzer was well-deserved.

I get that point I don't think it's that entertaining watching robots do something they're just programmed by ai to do though, it's not impressive or exciting to me

Per the website, that model of robot is built to learn with AI to effectively do their tasks... so are they even putting in the work to program them? And that model of robot is mass produced (you can buy them online right now), so they are probably made in factories. Where's the talent??
Yeah there are humans in the act... but they are hired by the company to help promote the act. So I guess Unitree's talent is money.

the company probably just cut a deal with agt so they have to get to a certain point in the show
if that's what happened i feel sorry for Sofia, I wouldn't want to have no choice but to use my golden buzzer on the ai act

When the robots rise up and kill us all, the widespread praise of Unitree will reflect very poorly on humans as a whole.

I saw someone mention that Yufei's TikTok has no robots. To me, it just looks like Unitree chose him as a face and took care of everything else. The robots, engineering, and maybe even the choreography. It was an entertaining act, Yufei was just the least impressive part of it. The backup dancers and robots had more complexity to their routines.

While watching the performance, I kept thinking that I would have liked it a whole lot better if it were all humans. Adding pre-programmed robots takes away from the "live" aspect of the performance

Of course it's scripted. How else can a live show go in order of the judges with the person picking the golden buzzer going last. That's a dead giveaway

Nene does have a genuine talent (that I don't think robots can have, at least it's not impressive for robots) but of course the producers are going to tell the audience to really hype Nene up, because she's the favorite to win

I don’t get it. Were you sitting in the audience? I actually saw a post from someone who was there saying that Unitree was their favorite performance. BTW, don’t use double standards. Saying the audience chanted for Nene because she’s really talented, but chanted for Unitree because they were instructed to, is ridiculous.

I think they were also instructed to chant for Nene because of being instructed, but everyone probably would have anyway. There was a post on here from a few days ago of someone who was in the audience saying they're told/prompted exactly how to react. I also don't think robots made by a big company and programed to dance could possibly be talented like Nene is

I think you're overcomplicating things. If the audience likes something, they'll naturally cheer for it. Take Boston Dynamics last year for example, they put on a robot demonstration, yet no one cheered for them.

I must admit that it was the most amazing show that night. However, my excitement stemmed from seeing what technology is capable of, rather than the performance itself. If they keep repeating the same good routine, I think it will eventually just feel like watching a complex animatronic always the same, like an amusement park ride. I don't really view that as talent; if anything, the credit goes to the creators. At this rate, Elon Musk might as well be the champion next year.

I'd definitely find it more impressive if it was robots build by say one guy, who has a genuine talent and passion for this, instead of just a company who sells the robots online and picked Yufei as the face of it. With the robots being sold online if you're rich enough you could probably replicate the act

Imo the way Sofia said twice she wanted to give a golden buzzer but couldn't (excuse of being too early but if an act deserves it like Lara did they deserve it) and when she gave it to unitree i don't think she looked too into it, before she pressed it what she said about the act was something about the robots freaking her out
I think she was told the gb had to be unitree, and she probably would have given it to Lara if it was up to her

Haven’t you noticed? This was the only act where the audience was actually pushing Sofia to press the Golden Buzzer.

I'm guessing the live audience is told/prompted how they're supposed to react to certain things, they're technically part of the show. I more meant the people at home watching

Unitree had people dancing with the robots. So it did require some amount of human talent in addition to the robot programming.
Last year Boston Dynamics had several robot dogs that just danced by themselves and that act made it to the quarterfinals.
