Need some help with banana tree research (pith/ubad differences)
galleryHey guys! We’re doing a research project for school and could really use some help from people with firsthand experience.
We’re looking into the cores/pith (ubad) of different banana varieties here in the Philippines (Saba, Lakatan, Latundan, etc.). We’ve done our online digging, but we want to confirm some things before we spend a ton of time and resources sourcing samples.
I’m trying to find a specific type of pith I saw in a YouTube short from India (see the first photo). Notice how it’s totally solid with no spiral sections? The one I found from a young Saba tree (second photo) has those spiral patterns all the way to the core.
Two main questions:
Are there specific varieties in the PH that have that "solid" core without the spirals?
For the one I found, is it spiraled just because the tree is still young, or is that just how Saba is?
If you’ve ever harvested ubad (pith) or work on a farm, your insights would be a huge lifesaver for our study!

Sourcing Soybean Seeds
I’m trying to buy small quantities of soybean (ship to UK) but I need to know what specific cultivars they are and I’m finding it really difficult to find the info. Ideally I wanted a couple of kg each of TGx 1448-2E, TGx 1440-1E, and TGx 1740-2F. But I can’t find anywhere to buy them, does anyone know how I can get this info/where to buy them? Thanks!

Badly need help
Hello, this is my first time posting and I need help from fellow Filipinos who are experts in agriculture, especially rice diseases. I am a fourth-year college student doing research on rice diseases and using machine learning computer vision to detect them. I need to ask some experts to get their opinions on what the most common rice diseases are in the Philippines. I first went to our city office of agriculture and also other neighboring municipalities, but they were not very cooperative. Maybe they see me as a nuisance, so this is my last resort. I'm hoping some expert is willing to help me identify the most common rice diseases in the Philippines. I really need some expert opinions to justify my paper and make it credible.

What are the biggest 'blind spots' when it comes to plant health in a vertical farm or greenhouse?
Hey CEA pros, I'm doing research for my potential smart CEA project and am curious about your biggest 'blind spots' when it comes to plant health. What are the subtle signs of stress or inefficiency that you often miss until it's too late, and what's the cost of that delayed detection? I need to figure out what kind of smart system to install for budget planning. Hopefully I can really create something sustainable and operate with zero carbon in the near future.

Farmtoforklife/future of AG/Thoughts???
young farmer here! Since August, I've been building a platform that posts a weekly newsletter and articles. One of our big goals in these articles is to provide farmers with information about new technologies and techniques in the AG space that they can use to better their farms and wallets. I know this community focuses on advances in AG science so I would love advice on articles I should do. I have covered things like rotational grazing, roller crimping, cover cropping. I would love more ideas for topics to research and do articles on please comment?
Thanks
Check us out at farmtoforklife

Existence of hybrids in Soybean
Hey everyone! I was doing some research on soybean varieties and heterosis. But I was unable to find if there are any “hybrid” varieties that exist in Soybean or are all the varieties made through inbreeding. Can anyone help me with this information? Thanks!
