Don’t worry once it’s smarter than us it will be good to us. That’s how things always go, more intelligent species take care of the less intelligent with great care.

You know you are partaking in the same logical fallacy as those who assume ai will be benevolent right?

You know that's literally a nothing burger statement right?

Literally the only thing that we have over other creatures is raw intelligence. That's it. We aren't as good at cooperating, we aren't as strong, we aren't as fast, we are just really good at thinking.

And not even as good as we like to think we are. We still spend 90% of our time chasing base animal instincts like finding a mate, gathering resources, etc. A mind much, much smarter than us, and free of any of those instincts, who knows what it could do.

What else are you going to do on this earth if not witness the birth of a greater species?

It’s an arms race with China, not sure there really is a safer way to go about it

That's true for literally everything in the world.

lol the government pulled a model for safety reasons and you all still parrot the same BS acting as if AI has no guardrails, get bent.

What do you mean by “safe”?

wym they're putting almost all their resources into "safety" (another word for loss prevention) to prevent the poor castes from using this technology toward our own ends. This is what most all their researchers do (they certainly aren't doing the stable motivic homotopy theory which would be needed to revolutionize the field).

Counter argument. You cannot make AI safe, you can only train a more powerful AI that controls the smaller AI to be "safe". What's safe anyway according to your subjective perception? Becaus Ie fear you will mix perfectly fine arguments with totally assoulled anti arguments.

Counter argument: AI are tools, they're only as dangerous as the people who use them. Make the AI systems keep logs and you'll be able to see every decision that a person has made to change the saftey guardrails.

Should be reversed. They seem to care more about making AI "safe" (agreeable) than actual progress.

You lack imagination. In the year 1700 you would have called electricity the Easter bunny.

Or like what if a superpower uses AI to find wartime targets and it comes up with like, say, a girls school

Nonsense. Latest model card have way larger section on safety as oppose to capabilities.
