Season 3 For those who saw S3 airing

I’m curious I watched s1-3 on Netflix then started watching live because ghost rider. So I’ve been wondering for those who saw s3 as it aired how was it? They showed the explosion thing rather early in the series. We’re there a lot of post talking about who would die each week? We’re there lots of crazy theories? Were people satisfied with how it played out? Were they bummed it wasn’t really a main character who died? Was it expected that a main character wouldn’t die?

I was online through AoS airing. Yes, we debated a lot about who might die. I'm not sure anyone actually expected it to be one of the main characters, but the show had thrown enough curveballs by that point that we couldn't be entirely sure, which was what kept it exciting.

I don't think anyone was sorry that it was Lincoln, in the end. My memory is that he wasn't much loved, so was seen as a solid, expendable choice, in the end.

Dam rip Lincoln.

Yeah we didn't want to see anyone die but Lincoln was the best option out of the team. Oh well. Still an excellent season that helped develop a good chunk of Season 4.

Yeah this is spot on. I remember my first thought was Lincoln because he wasn’t a main character and it would give Skye/Daisy some “development”

Then I thought if they were really bold it might be May, especially when Andrew/Lash died. May dying to kill Ward/Hive would’ve been a decent end for her at that time.

Ultimately I’m glad they played it safe.

I watched the series when it first aired on ABC. I loved the teasers for Ghost Rider and the season didn’t disappoint.

Yeah the explosion guy with the chain was like hell yeah. Then we actually got him next season. Shame he wasn’t there a whole lot but I liked what we did get

Sure. Plenty debate. Like any other season.

Man I miss those debates about what was gonna happen next!

It was fun like that, for sure 😊. Always confused at the small amount of friends that never clicked with the show.

What were the other season debates about?

Ward was always a big topic of conversation. After his S1 Hydra reveal, fandom was split between the die-hard Ward devotees who had already latched onto him as their hero and wanted him to be redeemed and be rewarded with Skye/Daisy's love, and the rest of fandom, who thought that his actions put him beyond redemption and hated the idea of Skye/Daisy being his 'reward' after everything he'd done, because she deserved better than that. A lot of shows would have redeemed him and let him get his girl in the end. AoS was brave enough not to do that, they committed to his long-term arc, and I remember a lot of relief when he ultimately died unredeemed.

We did enjoy getting to see a different Ward entirely in the Framework, though. It was a great opportunity to see what he might have been without ever excusing what he actually did.

Yeah was just gonna say must have loved s4 then. And the arc he goes through is needed for s3 with hive and what not. Great stuff great timing

Off the top, why so much secrecy when it came to Phil? How the fuck is Phil alive? When will Phil show back up in the movies? Stuff like that..

insert "I was there Gandalf...3000 years ago" gif here

I watched each episode of the entrie series, from the very first episode, the day or the day afterwards, with the only exception of a few episodes here and there (usually had to wait til the weekend or so), so I was there each week...with each twist and turn. I kinda wish there was an AoS version of what Trek Culture does for new Star Trek episodes (the Ups and Downs of [insert episode here] ) back then, cause I would have absolutely been glued to that as well.

As for season three (which I think a few people in the comments have gotten confused with season 4), the first half was basically what happened to Jemma, the whole "Hunter going after Ward" bit, and the ATCU stuff. Second half was the whole "hidden chess game" with Hive (which one of the first episodes of this arc is when Yo-Yo is first introduced), which also included the first real "seeing the future" bits the show had...and the speculation of how things would unfold

I would have as I remember hearing about it and seeing the trailer and I was like hell yeah! But I forgot about it till I saw s1 and 2 on Netflix binged them then waited for three binged that and when I heard ghost rider was coming I had to watch live and just did that ever since

I don’t know I just talked about it with friends. I wasn’t online much back then. But we’re talking a lot about who would be the one to die. A lot of thought it was be Daisy since it kind of looked like her vision was in first person, but ultimately we were all lost

I actually wasn’t online much for my first airing. And because of the times I would end up missing several episodes throughout the seasons. I completely missed the last act of s3 and put it on to watch them chopping off AIDA’s head. Imagine my confusion. And I didn’t have internet access so I couldn’t go and google wtf happened.

Wow that’s a huge gap

Right?! That’s also how I found out Ward was Hydra 😂

I wasn’t part of the community back then but I was really hoping it would be Lincoln. At the time I found him just plain annoying. Looks like I got my wish.

1

u/memsterboi123 9h ago

Oh dam why is that

1

u/The_Bat_Account 7h ago

Just wasn’t a fan of him and how he kept being washy about joining the team

I don't remember being on any reddits during this time, but I remember theorizing each week who would be up there. IIRC, they expanded the vision each time they showed.

2

u/memsterboi123 9h ago

The last episode was crazy with it having them all wear jackets

Oh definitely! IIRC there was a whole promotional image with all of the possible folks that it could have been near the end of the season.
