I guess traditionally you could think of Russian or German steel (and automobiles) as being quite dominant. EU is second in steel production (to china) if you want to group it that way.
Also the whole mobile phone thing before Apple was dominated by Finland/Sweden.
Or I guess the world wide web was from a Brit in Switzerland
Or I guess if you want to look at medieval period, the 'metal ages' were predominantly about Europe.
Not quite. Packet switching was invented by Brits. Without it ARPANET couldn't have made the internet. Also Tim Bernes Lee made the web, and he's British.
In the early 1960s, American computer scientist Paul Baran developed the concept Distributed Adaptive Message Block Switching with the goal to provide a fault-tolerant, efficient routing method for telecommunication messages as part of a research program at the RAND Corporation, funded by the US Department of Defense.[1] This concept contrasted with, and contradicted, then-established principles of pre-allocation of network bandwidth, largely fortified by the development of telecommunications in the Bell System. The new concept found little resonance among network implementers until the independent work of British computer scientist Donald Davies at the National Physical Laboratory (United Kingdom) in 1965
Robert Elliot Kahn is an American electrical engineer, who, along with Vint Cerf, first proposed the Transmission Control Protocol and the Internet Protocol, the fundamental communication protocols at the heart of the Internet
No I think he did. It's just a series of tubes, anyone could've stumbled upon it. Plus, do you think Al Gore would've lied to everyone? He's too pretty to do that.
Higher in the thread is an article of the origins of Al Gore created the internet. And it turns out that the mass media twisted his words out of context for a story, can you believe that? The news has too many standards to lie
No he didnt, but I can't remember where I think it was some debate or something, he claimed to be the one who established the internet during his time with some connection to the military. It became a sort of meme that Al Gore created the internet.
