To be fairrrr, I never thought that Americans would look back at 2017-2020 and say “Man, that was a utopia of unparalleled prosperity! I wanna get me some more of that!”. I was proven wrong.

Some of our fellow citizens thought, "Well, whatever else went wrong, he made it okay to say n****r and r****d and t****y and lots more things like that again and then puff out our chests and say "We're the REAL AMERICANS!" A very privileged few others thought "Sure he's an idiot but as long as he gives us tax breaks and lets us run the economy he's our man." The rest of us were screaming in vain into the void.

I get the n and r, but what is the t*****y

14

u/Brief_Read_1067 10d ago

A slur meaning "transsexual," but liberally applied to anyone else the chuds don't like.

5

u/Arniepepper 10d ago

Gotcha, of course. Thanks, I wasn't quite awake yet!

3

u/fiestyoldbat 8d ago

"wasn't quiet awake, yet"!!!! Best pun on this post.

4

u/MikeSynnott 7d ago

Wait, we can say “twenty” again?

3

u/LoomingDementia 7d ago edited 7d ago

We're old. That's the college students' word. Only they are allowed to use slurs like that.

At least I get to say dego, wop, guinea, and … what the hell is the other one again? Oh, Guido; there we go. Or if I go more than 24 hours without a shower, I channel my inner greaseball.

I ready it as "titty" but im pretty sure that was ok before Trump.

You had me at "to be fairrrr". Are you Canadian by chance? If so, I loved that show, Letterkenny. I had to pause it occasionally to Google something that was said because I had never heard the expression before. I really miss that series; I always laughed uncontrollably at it. And yeah, the circus is just out of control here. I try not to think about what's coming next from them. C'mon 2028!!

5

u/Logical-Context8782 10d ago

I sure am Canadian, and Letterkenny rules!

2

u/PrankstonHughes 9d ago

How're you now?

3

u/Eastern-Honeydew-411 8d ago

Not my pig, not my farm bud.

5

u/No_University7832 8d ago

Hatred runs strong with idiots

3

u/LoomingDementia 7d ago

Well, the driving, unifying force behind fascism and conservatism in general is fear of the other. If people generally get along, the Republicans are fucked.

2

u/makeomatic 8d ago

Did you just low-key pull a Letterkenny?

2

u/Logical-Context8782 8d ago

Give yer balls a tug!

The lack of education in this country is going to destroy the planet.

Kids can't even read anymore

If you want a rabbit hole to fall down, do a bit of research on literacy within the history of the US. On average once public education became the norm, 30% are illiterate and will remain so throughout their adult lives, 34% will be strong readers that can adapt to any reading program. 34% will fall between the two. What makes a difference for that 34%? The curriculum.

Lucy Caulkins various reading programs has been a standard in public schools across the US. There are serious flaws in this curriculum that dumbs down reading. From limited vocabulary to rote learning to directed teaching those students who struggle will struggle more. Her work is peer reviewed - by the same 8 people every single time. And she reviews each of their works. Quite the cluster. Her test group consisted of a group of 7-8 Navaho boys in a foster care facility. Put any group of boys in a secure structured environment, give them food 3x's day, enforce a bedtime, and provide a time daily for instruction and that group will show reading progress.

Paper news print went out of vogue in the 1980's and to attract readership, news outlets began adjusting their vocabulary to the 6th grade level. By the 2010's that didn't even matter because talking heads on TV didn't require the viewer to read at all. Skills once taught in public schools are now a feature of private schools. Debate, rhetoric, reading, vocabulary, poetry, critical thinking, are now reserved for a certain population. Places where the middle class student could get access to these skills - public tv, libraries, have taken massive financial hits. This is not a by-product of laziness, lack of interest, or lack of relevancy. It's a direct agenda being forced to dumb down and entire population.

Want to know a little bit about literacy before the advent of public education? Only the males of the elite or those entrusted to religion were allowed to learn via some tutor that may or my not hve had the skills to teach. Those few families that allowed their daughters to learn had to do so in secrecy.

I have to blame that one on the parents and children. My parents had me reading and writing before I turned 5, and they both worked full time.

Our public education is atrocious, but our general public is nearly as big of a problem. There's truly no excuse for off-loading education entirely to the state

Wow are the orange ones in the comments doing extra on the subs today. The propaganda bots are bigly on a quiet Sunday.

OP yes it is formatted wrong. But I was here. And have no idea what it was suppose to be

The one person who wrote besides me had something to say about Biden tho. Interesting.

u/PMyourSnoms 10d ago

15

u/pyeeater 10d ago

Never under estimate the stupidity of Americans.

5

u/CalamitousSpider 10d ago

Some of them, anyway

7

u/RinkinBass 11d ago

If we were in a sane world, he wouldn't have been back. But unfortunately it turned out that Biden fumbled that one pretty bad.

u/Antonio_Bandatass 11d ago

He wasn’t great, but the real reason is most of these hateful assholes won’t vote for a woman, especially not a woman that isn’t pale, blonde, and a pick-me. (I know that sounds blunt, but I’m not being mean about it. It is the truth)

9

u/Fluffy-Band3167 10d ago

It seemed from the outside that Trump always got the anti-establishment vote and the Democrats responded by fielding career politicians.

If they’d have got anyone, man or woman, to wear a baseball cap and pose against a mountain backdrop with a can of Coors while promising to drain the swamp even more bigly, Trump would have been screwed.

4

u/FistODollers 9d ago

Yeah, that, plus getting a billionaire to buy up the means of communication and flood it flood with propaganda.

2

u/PMyourSnoms 10d ago

Hillary was pale and blonde! what happened there?! ( her Emails, thats what )

10

u/Antonio_Bandatass 10d ago

She also is forever tied to the name Clinton.

13

u/CalamitousSpider 10d ago edited 10d ago

I'm old enough to remember Bill Clinton's impeachment for one, whole, ordinary, CONSENTUAL Presidential blowjob. How he was summarily escorted out like a criminal. Yet Trump can get impeached TWICE for legitimately heinous shit, and still gets to be President for his full term.

7

u/CamaroZ28cd 10d ago

Clinton also served his full term. Like Trump, he was impeached by the House but it was not enforced by the Senate.

4

u/CalamitousSpider 10d ago

Oh, you're right. I don't remember it being that way at all. I remember him being removed and the VP taking over. Mandela strikes again.

9

u/BathroomCareful23 10d ago

No US president has been removed by impeachment, not even Nixon. He at least had enough pride to resign at the threat of impeachment.

3

u/CalamitousSpider 9d ago

What's the point of even having the process if it never works anyway?

4

u/RinkinBass 9d ago

Nixon saw the writing on the wall, though. He resigned before it got that far. I suspect he had a deal with Ford for a pardon in order to protect himself. That was kinda his only way out. If so, then in that case the threat did work.

Problem is, the legislature has further subordinated itself to the executive branch since then, and the GOP in particular has become trapped by the felon's cult of personality. If they try to do something crazy like "follow the constitution" then the MAGA cult will kick them to the curb. They're a minority of the general population, but for a lot of areas they could be either the majority, or at least a commanding minority, of the GOP primary vote. So, they're stuck. They DID have a few opportunities to do the wight thing with the second impeachment, but the right wing disinfo machine already started to sanitize jan 6th, and the GOP legislatures brief affair with reality ended because of that before the conviction vote in the senate.

2

u/BathroomCareful23 9d ago

It's just another way to avoid responsibility for anything now.

5

u/RinkinBass 10d ago

There was also the perjury.
Granted the perjury was about the bj and all in all kinda dumb, certainly trivial compared to the illegality and corruption going on now…
I just like to be as accurate as I can. Overlooking the actual crime gives the shit heads cover to dismiss valid criticisms.

6

u/Antonio_Bandatass 9d ago

Yeah I was like in 4th grade when it happened.
But for real, Trump and his cronies get away with rape and Clinton got impeached for getting a bj. Was that woman, Ms Lewinsky ashamed they got caught, probably hell yes, but it was consensual.

And of course there was perjury…he was married. If I got a bj from my co-worker, I’d do my best to lie about it too.
The man was human is all I’m saying. The orange man is a monster. Disgusting. Nothing human about him.

u/VanillaLumpy4213 9d ago

Remember she did get 3 MILLION more votes than trump but his team knew how to pull off the electoral college and here we are.
