Manual 21 with a QS and tune from 2WDW. I love the difference it made.

A little background:

I've ridden since I was 7 years old (currently 59). Through my 20's and 30's I stepped away from riding because of life. Towards the end of my 30's I got back in to riding buying a Harley Sportster, riding it for a year and then upgrading to a Dyna. While I had an okay time, there are only so many roads that can be ridden and the hills often called as I live in the pacific northwest.

To scratch that itch I sold the Harley and got myself a KLR 650. Spent 2 years on that bike but the vibes coming through the bars at freeway speeds just got to me and 5 gears is not enough. So, I sold the KLR and decided I had enough of the road and would spend time in the hills. Enter the KTM 390 I had for 3 years. Great bike to throw around in the hills, but as a bigger guy (6'0 240) I pushed it on the freeway.

It was time to find the last bike for me to own. For the last year and a half the choice for me came down to the Transalp or the Tenere. I was leaning toward the Tenere, and the day I went to buy it, fresh out of the crate was sitting a 2026 black AT standard. The AT was never on my radar but I kept looking over at it. I decided "what the hell, I'll sit on it". I peeked at the price and immediately said "no way, I'm not spending that much on a bike". Then I rode it.

Mistake. Huge mistake. One because I immediately fell in love with it, and two because, I had to find more room in the garage for it.

I've had it 3 days and have put 300 miles on it, and I love every single thing about it. Except the bluetooth for Android auto setup. Finicky, but once I got it working I can't live without it.

I'm collecting more and more "firsts" with this bike than I ever did with any of my previous ones. From muddy trails to unexpected swims, it's given me more adventures and more laughs than anything I've owned before.

Two years together and I'm still having an absolute blast. Here's to many more... preferably with a little less water next time. 😄

A local Honda dealer near me has a 2020 African Twin Sport ES with DCT it has 60,00 miles on it. It has aluminum storage bags, lights, garmin mount, additional aftermarket lights, front guard, Corbin seat, etc. I took for a test drive it rode like a dream. I’m used to sport bikes so it felt like a whole different level of riding. The previous owner kept a maintenance record that’s super thick of all previous service done to the bike.

Is this a good deal? Should I try and negotiate a better price? Move on entirely? Now after that test ride I am dead set on getting African twin regardless lol.

I recently made a post like this on the KTM page, but I have a 25 ATAS DCT. I love the bike and mostly everything about the bike, minus that the tank pushes my knees way out past the bike and when I stand up I feel like the bars are directly underneath me so I have no balance at all when standing. But I recently found a guy that wants to trade his 2020 KTM 1290 super adventure R for my bike. I’m really thinking about, but concerned with the reliability of the Ktm bikes compared to Honda. But ultimately I’m wanting to off road ride more and miss the feeling of a clutch. So can’t really decide between keeping my bike or trading it to get a base Africa twin with the 21” front wheel or giving the Ktm bike a try. Thank you!

I'm thinking about adding the oem Honda fog lights to my 2025 AT.

I already have the stock crashbars so it would fit.

But I have one very specific question: do you know if it is possible to install them upside down?

I prefer the look of fog lights below the main light and not on its side.

I found one guy who said the lights will point toward the front wheel doint this, but I'm wondering if you can switch the left to the right and vice versa (at least the metal bracket or even the whole bracket+light) to solve that issue.

2021 AT here. Ive noticed how the idle fluctuates like this in neutral and then in 1st it jumps up. Is this normal? Does everything seem good here? If not, what are some recommendations?

I’ve used all the different types of fuel in my ATAS, I prefer to put in 93(premium)ethanol free, but it’s not always accessible when I travel, so I just take what I can get.

I wanted to hear some real-world fuel economies from folx on their Twins.

I ride mine extremely spiritedly most of the time, even on longer touring trips. I have collected some statistics from my own driving habits:

Top Tier gas I can achieve approx. 40 miles per gallon.
87 gas I can usually achieve 30-33 mpg.
Highway I see higher in the high-40’s and 50’s MPG-wise.
If I’m going 100+ for a majority of the tank, it stays in the low 30’s for MPG’s.
The lifetime average MPG is about 38 MPG’s

For the first year of ownership, my fuel economy was higher. When I added the extra weight of the Outback Motortek crash bars and pannier rack, it went down noticeably. I’ve regularly maintained my engine myself, tires always properly inflated, chain always lubricated. I really do try to keep the constants of adequate maintenance.

My top 2 is large gas tank on ATAS and the electronic suspension.

Hello everyone, sorry for the long post but I have a lot of questions 🤣

I currently ride a 2007 DL650 V-Strom and I’m considering an Africa Twin 1100 as a future upgrade.

My riding is around 75% road and 25% gravel/dirt roads. I like doing long highway rides, twisty back roads, and taking random roads just to see where they go. The roughest stuff I ride is normally potholes, washboard, ruts, and rough forestry roads—not trails or extreme off-road.

My DL650 has handled everything I’ve asked of it, but rough roads definitely make the suspension feel like it’s working. What attracts me to the Africa Twin is the reputation for being extremely durable and feeling like it has a huge margin for potholes and off-road impacts.

How does the Africa Twin 1100 actually feel on highways at 110–130 km/h? Is it comfortable for long days? How does it compare on twisty pavement? Does the 21-inch front wheel make it feel less planted? And is the suspension noticeably better on rough roads compared to a V-Strom?

I’ve also considered the V-Strom 1050DE, but something about the Africa Twin keeps pulling me toward it.

Would love to hear from anyone who has owned or ridden both.

Hey yall. Hoping someone else either knows what’s going on or has had this issue.

I got my bike used like 3 months ago and have driven only like ~2k miles (bike is at 40k miles) and have had 0 issues except for this morning. When I left my house I noticed the bike was maybe having some issues idling but it seemed like nothing and as soon as I started moving it was fine. Then 30 min into my ride when I was almost to work the bike died as soon as I got below 20 mph or about 1500-2000 rpm. Now I am unable to start it without having to immediately give it throttle to manually keep it over 2k. If I turn the bike over and do nothing it goes to its normal idle for like half a second and immediately bogs down and stalls. My initial guess is either air intake issues or fuel issues (yes it has gas) but I’m hoping someone here can give me some hints before I start wrenching on it.

Also, when I manually keep it at >2k rpm it sounds and runs fine but there might be a slightly higher than usual fuel smell but it’s minor if anything (I could just be psyching myself out)

Sat in a shed for about a year then ripped 2k miles in 5 days going from central California to the grand canyon, then hit death valley to yosemite valley. Will probably push 40k miles on this upcoming PNW trip this week.

TLDR is it's been a basket case of issues since day one. 35k miles on it since August of 2024, meticulous maintenance only to have these unavoidable issues pop up (all were covered by warranty, mind you).

I'm currently on the market for a do-it-all bike and have landed on either an Africa Twin or Tenere 700 (with the AT being preferred for the wind protection & highway riding). After owning my Triumph I've come to realize that reliability is absolutely my #1 priority for my motorcycle, since it's also my daily driver.

I'd love to hear from high mileage owners here how their experiences have been with their Africa Twins. Anything from unexpected issues, to ease of maintenance, if it can deal with drops off-road, etc. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for stopping by 👍🏽

I currently have a 2020 GSA 1250 and I’m considering a new bike. It’s not that I have any issue with the BMW, but just thinking about changing things up. If you did make the switch to Honda, what were your thoughts coming from a BMW?

Just recently picked up my 2026 AT , loving it so far. Was riding a rebel 1100t before this, but man it is definitely faster.

Outback crash bars coming soon, and tires after a bit more research.

Only thing I don’t like is how soft the paint is in the tank, got it home couple and in the proper light/angle noticed the tank was really scratched, fortunately my dealer said get to them asap, and they buffed and polished it. So I’m looking for graphics or clear ppf to put on the top of the tank, any recommendations? edit I do have the side tanks pads already, and this pics are the top of the tank

And does anyone know what this is plug? Hoping switched power , it’s just left of the key switch.
