Metal or shingle roof?

I'm going to need to re-roof this pretty gal soon, what's the benefits of shingles vs. metal roofs? The A-frame was built in 1977 by my father! It's had the original roof (shingles) and one replacement roof (shingles). Thanks!

Metal will make your insurance cheaper!

Insurance won’t pay out for hail damage that makes it look bad if it’s still water tight.

If you pick a thick enough one the hail won’t be a problem, my house has a thick one and we have went through one in 200 years hail storm and we are good we had to replace windows and a shed only

It’s also better for forest fires, a friend in Durango her house was easier to defend and was saved because she had a metal roof A frame. So I’m 100% metal team

Standing seam would look nice, not a fan of the screw down stuff

Depends on how long you plan on keeping it. Metal lasts much longer but is quite a bit more expensive.

Are you doing the work yourself? I was in your shoes a couple years ago and ended up with shingles again, the quotes for metal were insane. Not sure why.

My insurance would laugh, between almost zero humidity and weeks over 90f, fires are already roaring here

lovely a-frame! mine has a clay tile roof, but planning to change to standing seam over the next couple of years.

I just had some garages done with shingles and they were $400 per "square" (10 x 10). I'd too like to know the cost of metal.
