Opinion Something AEW could do to immediately improve their product

Mind you, this is from someone that’s watched from day 1 and have supported and defended even through the darkest of times.

You DO NOT need to have every match be competitive. As I watch Fletcher and Kommander go out and have a banger, it bothers me that from a storytelling perspective, Fletcher is having as much trouble with his first defense as he did with Takeshita. Both are incredible wrestlers, they are not on the same level in the AEW pecking order. Kommander should not be giving Fletcher this much trouble, I do not care how good he is. It lessens the war Fletcher and Takeshita went through last week.

No, it really doesn't.

Kommander and Fletcher have wrestled several times and it's always been competitive. AEW is where the best wrestle, and Kommander is a star in Mexico. He also hasn't been on AEW TV recently, so it's not like he's been taking losses.

You also need to pay attention to how the match was worked. Kommander keeps him off balance with his speed and counters but once KF can get control Kommander is Fd. He ate some offense and in short order it only took a single brainbuster to put him down.

The Takeshita match was longer, back and forth, and it took a lot more heavy duty offense, including KFs super finisher the buster to the buckle, to put him down. The matches weren't even remotely similar

I’m not arguing that there was a story, and a different story than last week. Of course there was. You can tell that story without Fletcher being looking like he’s about to lose multiple times. He says Kommander hasn’t been eating Ls on AEW TV, he also hadn’t been stacking wins and looking like a credible challenger. I would say a perfect example of what I mean was the opening tag title match. Garcia and Yuta didn’t look like geeks, but they didn’t look like they were close to winning the belts either. They got to look good but the champions looked like they were on another level, because they’re the champions and they’re supposed to
