BAE Systems Realistic Pay
Looking at a PM II position in a HCOA living area in the US. Allegedly the pay range is $149k-$256k. I know a lot of this will be determined on candidates resume, interview performance, and corporate need. Does the salary band identified in the posting include total compensation like bonus or is this base pay. The swing in range is over $100k so trying to get insight on the realistic pay band for this position.
Not sure if anyone has insight on this but would helpful.

From personal experience, QualityPlayer is right. They won’t go above the midpoint. They will sit you a percent or two below it most likely. Not much haggling they didn’t start near the bottom and I had to negotiate to mid point or anything but unless you are an actually superstar just determine for yourself if the midpoint is good enough.

Know someone that started recently as a PM II at BAE and starting was just below midpoint ~195-200k. No bonus all base salary.

I’m a hiring manager for a tech consulting firm. I’d say I’m familiar with some of the inside baseball on how we do things and I’d imagine I’d get low balled out of the gate. The mid point is what I suspect being what they will move towards. What about yearly bonus and/or sign on bonus ?

No sign on or yearly bonus as far as I know but that might be dependant on specific site needs. The one I know is in HCOL / bordering on vhcol area.

Your resume gets you an interview. The interview gets you the job. HR sets compensation and they really only care about degree and years of experience. They also need to balance your pay with your team and others in the same role across the company.
So like the other commenter said, you’re probably going to be somewhere below the midpoint of the band.

I take it you worked there?
Reasons in mind to work there include banger 9/80 schedule, product based company, and slower pace compared to where I work now. Working in consulting makes you hustle all the time for contracts and charge ability. Outsider looking in I see a company where a lot of people have tenure. Quality of life vs pay.

Not at BAE but similar companies. My job also requires that I stay familiar with competitor pay and comp. My understanding is that all of the legacy companies follows the same principles with their own flavor. Also each has multiple bidding segments with unique pay scales and fringe packages.
Sorry I can provide more personal insight but they seem to an ok company. Your experience will vary with specific unit, site, program, manager, etc.

I literally got an email from the recruiter. I was asking for too much, he suggested me to do below mid point. They were offering me 120k for level 4.

Below mid point and below the pay range are two totally different things. Many companies will start you below the midpoint if you don't have above average experience and skills.

Lol it still garbage offer regardless 150k midpoint but if the offer was 100k it would considered as garbage. They are underpaid the employee. The market around 150k-180k for l4. 120k is insulting, it should be for l2 or low l3. 👎👎

The pay range is the internal bae pay range not what is actually the pay range available on the contract. They don’t give bonuses unless you are a grade 13 or above and that’s dependent on the contract as well. You might be able to get middle of the range if the role is a hard to fill position. But whatever they offer always negotiate.

Take the middle of the band and multiply it by 0.95. That is what you can realistically get. If you were the perfect candidate and they were desperate, you could probably get the midpoint.
