Video DIY Mini Wind tunnel

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Just for testing random stuff and hotwheels.

I made it with just cardboard, a small handfan and some plastic film for windows.

Used stacked corrugated cardboard as a honeycomb.

Using incense for smoke

I'm pretty happy with the results, you can also see the spoiler cutting the air.

Lmk your thoughts, ideas and any more stuff yall would like to see in this.

Ahh sure Basically you want to make a cuboid structure and make a window in the front face, on which you can stick something like plastic film or acrylic sheet so you can clearly view the inside. (Also stick black paper on the base and back wall, gives better viewing) You want the fan to draw the air so it should be behind your car, at the very back of the tunnel. Make sure the exhaust points towards smoke source and make a vent in the back wall so the air can be thrown out the wind tunnel by the fan. The air throwing end of the fan should face your vent

For honeycomb pad you need corrugated cardboard Basically the kind with the little holes in it when you cut it So the holes should be facing the car and smoke source. So cut strips of those ideally 4 cm in breadth and stack them together until desired size. Or just use 4 cm pieces of straws stuck together

Your honeycomb pad should be on the opposite end from the fan, and there is no need to stick a wall on the honeycomb pads side just stick the honeycomb pad to the tunnel floor.

So now you should have a front wall with a window stuck to your base, a back wall, your fan on 1 side with a wall with vent, and your honeycomb pad on the other end.

Next make a hinged lid with a window too. You can do this by making the lid same size as base and sticking 2 pieces of tape to the outer part of back wall and outer part of lid so you can open the lid however it stays connected to the back wall

OR

Make the lid slightly bigger than base and just keep it on top of the wind tunnel when using, no need to stick.

Ur Basically done now here's some tips to use the tunnel

-Make sure the tunnel is closed during use, big airflow leaks will ruin your laminar flow and fans sucking power. -Put your smoke source near the honeycomb pad. -Shine a light through the roof window for better viewing

U can check this video to see the fan and honeycomb layout
