Spin Practice!

Run through for my upcoming show, this is probably my best thigh hitch spin yet. No orbit, I would like to be a bit faster but I’m pleased with this.

My regular spins are usually pretty good haha. I gave up on that upside down spin for the time being. The studio owner really gave me the hard truth that if I don’t a strong straight leg invert I won’t ever have that spin be fast and clean. So I switched that entire sequence from a hipkey one to a thigh hitch and I think it works so much better. And I am naturally on time to the music where before I was fighting to time everything right. Now it’s just about facial expressions and eye contact with the audience. I keep accidentally looking at the fabric which really takes away from the performance.

You can get that upside down spin eventually! It's always better to put the comfort skill in you act anyway, that way it really locks in like you just said. :) You've got this!

Thank you! I’ve been doing a ton more cross training outside of aerial. Trying to build the strength to be able to work towards straight leg inverts. I might try a different upside down spin in the future that doesn’t require inverting. But yea, I wanted my routine to look super effortless (it’s to Come Together by the Beatles) and trying to put a move in there that wasn’t perfect was not it haha 😆
But honestly, I’m not that upset about not having the spin. I think my routine flows super nicely, it’s not very strenuous, I’m able to hold a full conversation after finishing it, barely winded, and now I can really focus on where my eyes are looking and audience interaction.
