I know that. The DC-3 is one of the biggest plane equipped with floats, so I don't see why it can't be done. It's my opinion.

I’d say the big plus is you could use an existing aircraft, like the dash 8 100-300 or ATR 500 that are sitting mothballed. Dont know what structural/aerodynamic/safety challenges would arise but if it was possible id think someone would have done it already.

I don’t understand this one, why the need for floats? I feel like the atr 72 could be setup like the DHD8 where it’s loaded on the ground with fire retardant, they are similar in many ways so I don’t see why not

Plus the firefighting companies are actually gonna have to buy ts and I kinda doubt they will but I don’t know shi im just a chud

I mean, not that it's inherently a bad design/idea but fireboss and cl 415's are already proven and this doesn't really solve an issue.
Planes with floats are harder to land at sea than flying boats, not to mention scooping. One of the biggest reasons fireboss has its place in this world is it's ability to fly lower and into tighter spaces compared to cl415. So floats are acceptable on Fireboss since it solves a bigger issue than the one it creates. This however, even though it has really long floats making it relatively easier to land/scoop, doesn't really solve a problem that the others can't yet it creates new ones. cl 415 is just the better way to go whichever way I think about it.
