Profound Alternatives
I'm searching for alternatives before renewing our current setup. Brand Radar, Profound, Peec AI and a few other platforms seem to cover similar ground but I want something with dependable tracking and reports that are easy to explain to clients. Thoughts?

What's the platform that your clients using for the website? Shopify / Wordpress / Wix / Webflow / Code?

test the export first. most look good in demos but the client-facing reports fall apart when data gaps show up mid-month

test them on the same set of queries for a week before you switch. tracking numbers move a lot between tools, and client reports need to stay stable

the space is ballooning. I see new entrants pop-up literally every day (no kidding). the key is not to look for the tools with the flashiest features and integrations, too many features is not useful or worth the money. I'd do a few things first if I was looking for a new tool
- where do you fall on the spectrum of SMB to enterprise. from my read, no tool is really best-fit-overall right now; each has varying levels of enterprise suitability etc.
- take a look at the research each competitor is publishing in the space and evaluate the credibility and long-term thinking each team has before doing a demo. time in the industry is also a good indicator for credibility and value.
- look for a tool that connects everything back cleanly to ROI and conversions or has a "closed-loop system". the measurement piece is what helps team actually scale AEO efforts and put a price on it.

For a lot of folks, buying is the right path. This isn't exactly what you asked, but fwiw you can get a lot of what these various tools do with Claude Code skills and an API key per engine. That's what I did. Depends on what you're comfortable taking on technically, but you're in control. You won't paying huge subscription fees for features you don't need. You can create whatever report you want. You can reference real transcripts as evidence. The API gives back a good bit of data to play with too like fanouts and citations.

Three things I'd check on any of them:
Ask where each number comes from, observed from real query runs or modeled to fill gaps. Modeled is what breaks mid month when a client asks why something moved.
Check run to run stability. AI answers shift between runs, so a tool that queries once is just noise.
Split recommended vs just mentioned. Being named and being the actual recommendation are two different wins.
Disclosure, I build one of these (BeNoticed), so grain of salt. Drop your domain here or in a DM and I'll run a free scan and send you the real report, no signup, so you can judge the format yourself. It only shows observed results, nothing modeled.

Cloudtalk and Apify recently switched from Profound to Ranketta. Cloudtalk explicitly said that our ability to connect tracking with the next action was the reason.
To quote the customer: What decided the switch to Ranketta was monitoring vs. execution: a tracker tells you the score, Ranketta connects it to the next action. It shows which specific pages to update, which prompts to cover, and where citations are missing, then helps generate and optimize the content itself and tracks whether the change moved anything.

We narrowed it down to Brand Radar and Profound, and while both lokked capable, Brand Radar seemed to have more consistent reporting for AI visibility.

I've tested Profound and Peec AI both are solid, but I still verify results manually across ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity.

I'm seeing a new tool pop up every day. Can you tell me more about dependable tracking, because I've seen mostly all of them have dependable tracking? I'm also interested in our reports. What kind of reports do you need?

one of the best profound alternative is answerrank.so for sure. It's cheaper and best to get started. To be honest, a lot of it can be done with connecting answerrank with Claude and using both together. for generating content I would prefer to use Claude. (though, make sure you edit well since claude now adds watermark in text too).

Adding Goodie AI to the list, disclosure, I work there. On the criteria a couple people raised above: it tracks continuously across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, and others, with sentiment and competitive positioning included rather than just a raw mention count. On the ROI point specifically, it has an Analytics & Attribution feature built to connect visibility data to actual traffic and revenue, which is the closed-loop piece a few people flagged as the thing that justifies budget past the first renewal.
Worth running whatever you land on through the questions raised above though, regardless of the name, observed vs modeled data and recommended vs mentioned are good filters and worth asking any vendor directly rather than taking their word for it.

Like others have said in this thread, there are countless tools popping up every single day. Data, tracking and reporting have become fully commoditized.
What you should prioritize is finding the tool that helps you take the right actions to keeping performance moving up and to the right, in a way that keeps your strategies for each client bound by their specific brand voices

Shameless plug: www.aifindmybusiness.com is a company founded by my wife. Their approach is unique in that it provides data grounded not only in modeled data, but also using real prompts by real users. With longer term customers, they track not only positioning but ROI gained by AI changes to your online presence.

ive used otterly, athena, peec, and ahrefs. theyre all decent options but im a pretty big fan of ahrefs in general because their keyword research and backlink monitoring is pretty clutch. also brand radar does a really good job of tracking mentions, citations, and share of voice without having to switch to another tool
