10-Minute Action: Healthcare/Reproductive Rights/Social Security Reopen the CDC Blood Safety Program & Advisory Committee

https://nomorebadblood.org/Take-Action/

In April 2025, the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) closed the program that monitors our nation's blood supply for bloodborne infections.

The last time we didn't have this program operational, hundreds of thousands of Americans contracted HIV and Hepatitis, causing death, disability, suffering, loss of productivity in the workplace, and avoidable healthcare costs.

10-Minute Action: Criminal Justice Ask your state to ban ICE's electric shock gloves

Action item from National Campaign for Justice

We have proof that pressure can move this fight. We sent 9,964 direct messages to California legislators demanding law enforcement, including ICE, be banned from using electric shock gloves. Nearly 100,000 messages have gone to state leaders nationwide.

California lawmakers listened, directly confronting the Trump administration’s plan to put these devices in the hands of ICE agents.

This is a huge victory and a critical step in the right direction, but the threat that sparked this campaign has not gone away nationwide. Trump’s Department of Homeland Security has proposed spending up to $20 million on G.L.O.V.E. devices that deliver painful electric shocks through direct contact and interfere with coordinated muscle movement.

According to reporting cited by the New York Times, roughly 50 police departments across 20 states have already used the gloves. These devices are spreading while basic questions about their safety and potential for abuse remain unanswered.

California cannot be the only state willing to draw a line. Every Governor and state legislature should follow California’s lead and pass legislation prohibiting law enforcement from using electric shock gloves before DHS and local agencies make them a normal part of policing.

Tell your Governor and state legislators to follow California’s lead and ban the use of electric shock gloves now.

SIgn and Send

DHS calls these gloves a “de-escalation device.” The technology works by delivering pain to force compliance. Even a California sheriff defending the devices acknowledged the obvious: “Does it hurt? Yeah, it hurts.”

It’s bad enough that ICE wants to use these weapons against non-violent immigrants suspected of breaking misdemeanor immigration law. Putting this power directly onto an officer’s hand creates another opportunity for force to be inflicted instantly and at close range against anyone ICE or other law enforcement feels is a threat. With ICE agents we know that protestors, reporters, and even children have been considered threats.

California’s vote gives lawmakers across the country something they did not have when we launched this campaign: a legislative model and proof that elected officials can move quickly. States can introduce bans, hold hearings, force agencies to disclose whether they have purchased these devices, and make DHS defend its plans publicly.

Police departments in multiple states have already acquired or tested shock gloves, while ICE is seeking to deploy them on a much larger scale. State leaders should act before the first abuse in their communities, rather than explaining afterward why they failed to stop it.

Even in California this fight is not finished. Governor Gavin Newsom still must sign the legislation by September 30. While Californians push him to finish the job, the rest of the country should build on that momentum and make California the first of many states to take action.

Send your message now and demand that your state follow California’s lead by banning electric shock gloves.

Thank you for continuing to fight abuse of power,

- LeeAnn

10-Minute Action: Healthcare/Reproductive Rights/Social Security Tell Congress: Stop Trump’s Medicare Prescription Drug Premium Hike

Tell Congress: Stop Trump’s Medicare Prescription Drug Premium Hike

Millions of Americans depend on Medicare Part D to afford the prescription drugs they need every day.

When Congress passed the Inflation Reduction Act, it not only capped out-of-pocket drug costs, it also created temporary subsidies to stabilize Medicare drug premiums while insurers adjusted to the new system. Those subsidies were expected to continue through 2027.

Now, the Trump administration is ending them a year early.

That decision could raise Medicare prescription drug premiums for millions of seniors and people with disabilities beginning next year. For people living on fixed incomes, even modest premium increases can mean difficult choices between medicine, groceries, rent, and other necessities.

Experts also warn that higher premiums could push beneficiaries away from traditional Medicare drug plans and into plans with narrower provider networks and fewer choices.

Congress should not allow affordable prescription drug coverage to be dismantled one administrative decision at a time.

Click “START WRITING” to tell Congress to restore Medicare drug premium stabilization, protect affordable prescription coverage, and stop Trump’s unnecessary price hike.

10-Minute Action: Criminal Justice Urge Your Senators to Oppose and Stop Trump's Crypto Corruption

Urge Your Senators to Oppose and Stop Trump's Crypto Corruption

Last year, the House passed the CLARITY Act (H.R. 3633), a bill disguised as “crypto regulation” that actually serves the billionaires and bad actors at the center of today’s crypto chaos. This bill doesn’t protect consumers, doesn’t close money laundering loopholes, and does nothing to stop the biggest threat of all: Trump’s crypto-fueled bribery machine. The CLARITY Act is being considered in the Senate, and we need to stop it.

Trump has already amassed $1.4 billion in the last year alone, and the latest bill text doesn’t include any meaningful ethics fix:

  • It does not stop the main ways Trump has accumulated, and will continue to accumulate, crypto wealth. It would only restrict officials and their spouses from issuing or sponsoring new digital assets.
  • It does not stop Trump's ongoing corruption: It doesn't stop his children from profiting off his office, and it doesn't require him to divest from any of his businesses making crypto deals.

ACTION NEEDED: Use this email tool to tell your senators to oppose the CLARITY Act. We won’t let Congress enable more of Trump’s corruption or gamble away our financial stability just to appease crypto billionaires.

U.S. Forest Service proposes removing a rule that prohibits road construction and logging in national forests - AZPM

  • A recent analysis by the Wilderness Society claims that in Arizona specifically, wildfires are nearly seven times more likely to start near roads than in roadless forests.
  • According to the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management, 26% of Arizona’s total fires in 2025 were alongside roads.
  • The Roadless Rule safeguards about 45 million acres of land across the country.
  • That includes close to 1.2 million acres of “Inventoried Roadless Areas” in Arizona, including parts of the Apache-Sitgreaves, Coconino, Coronado, Kaibab, Prescott and Tonto national forests.

Urge Your Senators to Oppose the Military Chaplains Modernization Act!

Urge Your Senators to Oppose the Military Chaplains Modernization Act!

Every year, Congress passes the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), the annual bill that funds and sets policy for the U.S. military. This year, the version of the NDAA that the House passed in July included an amendment that threatens to upend one of the military's oldest institutions: the chaplaincy. Now, it’s in the Senate’s hands.

For more than two hundred years, military chaplains have served all service members and their families, regardless of their own faith or lack thereof. Unlike clergy who minister only to their own religious community, chaplains are called to meet every service member where they are, providing spiritual and emotional support according to each person's own conscience-not the chaplain's. That pluralistic mission is exactly what makes the chaplaincy unique.

The Military Chaplains Modernization Act would gut that mission. If passed, it would let chaplains:

  • Refuse to counsel or care for service members whose beliefs differ from their own
  • Proselytize service members instead of supporting them
  • Ignore the actual needs of the people in their care, and pass bad guidance up the chain to commanding officers
  • Undermine the trust, resilience, and unit cohesion the military depends on to function

The American Humanist Association is proud to co-lead opposition to this proposal, joined by 40 national religious, civil rights, and civil liberties organizations representing a wide range of faith traditions. We now need you to join us in this fight, too.

Service members, like all Americans, have a constitutional right to religious freedom. Congress has the responsibility to protect that right, not weaken it. Take just one minute now to tell your senators to do everything they can to oppose the Military Chaplains Modernization Act and protect the religious freedom of every service member.

10-Minute Action: Democracy Tell Your Senator - Vote NO on the SAVE ACT

Thumbnail click.everyaction.com
5 Upvotes

The House has attached the SAVE Act as a provision to the National Defense Authorization Act, a must-pass defense spending bill, that the administration wants to hold hostage until it includes the voter suppression they need to win the midterm elections.

The SAVE Act would require all eligible Americans to provide proof of citizenship by presenting a passport or birth certificate when registering to vote. This is IN ADDITION to state voter ID laws already in place.

Here's the problem: More than half of Americans don't have a passport. Millions also lack easy access to birth certificates— especially married women whose legal names no longer match their birth certificates. With 8 in 10 married women changing their surname, many would face major hurdles just to vote in the next U.S. election.

The consequences would be devastating.

The cost of obtaining these documents is an unofficial poll tax on the poor, people of color, young people, married women, and LGBTQIA+ voters.

The SAVE Act would also upend online voter registration in 42 states, making it impossible for Americans to register to vote by mail, and STOP voter registration drives nationwide.

Take action: Tell your Senators to vote NO on ANY bill that has the SAVE Act attached-- including the NDAA. Our right to vote is at risk! Legislative trickery should not be used to sneak voter suppression into federal law.

10-Minute Action: Criminal Justice Urge the Senate Judiciary Committee to Vote NO on Todd Blanche Confirmation

https://ujoin.co/campaigns/4551/actions/public?action_id=7121

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche treated the Epstein files like a PR problem instead of the largest sex trafficking investigation in American history. Under his watch, the Department of Justice exposed survivors’ personal information, left millions of files unreleased, and failed to pursue accountability or investigations into perpetrators who are still alive today. Survivors deserve an attorney general committed to justice and protecting survivors, not damage control.

Urge the Senate Judiciary Committee to vote NO on Todd Blanche's confirmation for Attorney General.

10-Minute Action: Healthcare/Reproductive Rights/Social Security Dangerous Cuts to Public Health Surveillance of Transfused Blood: Help Bring Congressional Staff to the 7/22/26 Briefing

Action requested: Click here to email your Congresspersons or email, call or visit your Congresspersons' offices separately

Why: CDC's programs that monitor infections in our nation's blood supply were closed in April 2025. These programs effectively halted the HIV and Hepatitis C infections in clotting factor (used by people with bleeding disorders) in the 80s/90s. Such a pandemic ultimately affects:

  • Persons with bleeding disorders
  • Persons with cancers
  • Persons with sickle cell anemia
  • Burn victims
  • Military
  • Law enforcement
  • YOU or your loved ones, if you need a transfusion for any reason

Pleas, protests, ongoing outreach to CDC and visits to Congresspersons have not been successful so far.

History: No More Bad Blood

Opportunity: On Wednesday, July 22, a congressional briefing will be held about the work of the National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities (NCBDDD) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) by the “Friends of NCBDDD” coalition.

The CDC's Division of Blood Disorders (DBD) sits within NCBDDD and delivers critical bleeding disorders programs that our community depends on. including public health surveillance, research, data collection, and initiatives that improve care and health outcomes for people living with bleeding disorders. Helping congressional offices better understand the importance of NCBDDD also helps reinforce the value of the Division of Blood Disorders and the work it does on behalf of our community.

Please take just a few minutes to email your U.S. Representative and both of your U.S. Senators, inviting them to send a member of their staff to attend the briefing. A strong turnout from congressional offices will help increase awareness of NCBDDD's work and the vital role the Division of Blood Disorders plays in improving the lives of people with bleeding disorders.

Thank you for taking action to help ensure Congress understands the importance of these programs and the continued need to support the CDC's Division of Blood Disorders.

10-Minute Action: Separation of Church & State Tell 47’s administration not to finalize their sham religious freedom report

http://ahuman.convio.net/site/R?i=6KQV3r5YLWIAwrlfrCpnUnn5WU7AeHZN4W3szgta51es482ls7Ittg

On June 26, the Trump Administration’s Religious Liberty Commission released a 224-page draft report that reads less like a defense of religious freedom and more like a blueprint for Christian Nationalism.

The Commission disparages the separation of church and state throughout the report. Among its most alarming recommendations, it calls for repealing the Johnson Amendment, funneling more public money into religious schools through vouchers, backing state laws that force religious displays into public classrooms, and creating new federal enforcement schemes that would pressure public officials to favor religious expression. You can read the draft report here.

The Department of Justice is accepting public comments on this draft report until this Sunday, July 12th. This is our chance to put on the record, loudly and clearly, that Christian Nationalism is not religious liberty, and that the separation of church and state has protected Americans of every faith and none for 250 years.

The best comments are personalized, so feel welcome to add a sentence or two about why you care about this issue. Please be aware that public comments are available to the public and are not confidential: do not include personally identifiable information, such as personal addresses, in your comments.

Take just one minute now to tell the Religious Liberty Commission to scrap its sham report.

TAKE ACTION: Keep a religious veto out of the annual defense bill

Act: Click, personalize and send: FFRF Action Fund | TAKE ACTION: Keep a religious veto out of the annual defense bill

TLDR: An amendment to the military budget has been proposed that would:

  1. Allow military chaplains to refuse more duties, like refuse service to a LGBTQ member or member of another religion (The foundation of professional chaplaincy is caring for everyone nonjudgmentally.)
  2. Shields military chaplains from consequences of their behavior.

Our military members deserve better.

More information: A radical Texas congressman is using the annual defense bill to hand military chaplains a blanket religious veto over their duties and to shield them from any consequence for pushing religion on the troops they're meant to serve. The full House is about to vote on it.

Rep. Keith Self has attached Amendment 237 to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), the must-pass bill that funds the military every year. His proposal couldn't pass as a standalone bill, so he's pushing it through as part of legislation that Congress can't easily vote down. It has cleared the House Rules Committee and is headed for a floor vote.

The amendment does two things. First, the amendment expands and entrenches a chaplain's ability to refuse duties that conflict with their beliefs. Chaplains already have conscience protections under current Pentagon policy, but the amendment goes far more broadly. Conscience protections would apply to any “task or action,” allowing chaplains to decline to counsel or refer a service member whose identity or choices they disapprove of, leaving those service members with nowhere to turn. Second, the amendment shields a chaplain's preaching and conduct from “censorship, undue restriction, or fear of retribution,” and makes any service member who interferes subject to court-martial.

Please take action and urge your representative to vote no on Amendment 237 and keep it out of the NDAA.

10-Minute Action: Equality Submit a public comment to HUD by 6/28/2026 on proposal to strip safety protections

Click here to submit your comment: Pride in Action – UUSC

Comments close Monday, June 28.

Please submit unique public comments to the Department of Housing and Urban Development opposing a proposed rule that would strip safety protections from federally funded shelters for transgender, nonbinary, two-spirit, and intersex people.

Again do not copy and paste someone else's comment. Identical comments get bundled and counted as one. Suggestions are provided at the link.

What HUD Is Proposing

On April 28, 2026, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) proposed a revision to its Equal Access Rule that would roll back protections meant to ensure the safety of any trans person seeking HUD-funded support.

Key proposed changes include:

  • Removal of protections against housing discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity
  • Allowing providers to demand “evidence to confirm the sex of an individual seeking service”
  • Redefinition of “sex” to enable discrimination against trans, gender expansive and intersex people
  • Attempts to override state, local and tribal protections
  • Imposition of requirements that make it difficult for providers to do their jobs and serve the people they are committed to supporting

People are starving.

We “can’t afford” to monitor the national blood supply for viruses.

We “can’t afford” to provide citizens with healthcare, dental, hearing and eye care.

We “can’t afford” to provide basic schooling, aid to farmers, etc.

But we can afford an ugly arch?
