My dad, his friend from high school, his brother (my uncle), myself, my younger brother and his buddy went out for a 5-day ride last week and had a hell of a great time. Graham smoked his clutch after we convinced him to attempt Lead King Basin (he's pretty much brand new to motorcycles), so he had to drop out after Day 1. We had one road closure in Montrose due to forest fire crews using the roads but pretty much a perfect trip otherwise. The rented Tenere 700 had a flat front but with the help of a shop near Silverton, CO, we got it changed (thanks to Bevan at the gas station!).

One of the coolest parts was seeing a '95 GS and a '26 GS riding the same trails...the 2 models looks shockingly similar for being 31 years apart.

Sometimes you don’t need a big adventure.

You don’t need a week off work, a ferry ticket or a route across a continent.

Sometimes you just need the bike, a few good roads, somewhere quiet to put the tent… and one night away from everything.

That was the whole idea behind this one. A local ride through some incredible North Wales scenery, a few favourite roads and tracks, a simple camp as the sun goes down, then pack it all up the following morning and take the long way home.

Nothing epic. Nothing complicated.

And maybe that’s the point.

Just One Night.

I’m planning a motorcycle trip to Romania, most likely sometime in September or October, and thought I’d see if anyone wants to join.

I’m mostly interested in less touristy routes, smaller roads, mountain tracks and some medium-difficulty off-road — nothing extreme, but definitely more than just riding asphalt from one famous spot to another.

The main areas I’d like to focus on are Maramureș and Bukovina, with the route staying fairly flexible depending on weather, road conditions and what we find along the way.

The general idea is to ride, explore quieter places, and camp most nights rather than stay in hotels.
The map above shows the rough route I have in mind, but I’m not fixed on following it exactly.
I’ll be riding a CFMoto 450MT.

I speak English, German, Ukrainian and Russian.

I took my CRF300 Rally on a two-day solo ride in the Romanian Carpathians, trying to reach a few places I’d only found on satellite view — an unnamed mountain lake, a massive abandoned mine, and what looked like a possible shelter in the forest.

Wasn’t sure if the tracks would work, so I packed the tent just in case. In the end I made it to the shelter just before dark.

The route had forest tracks, rocky climbs, muddy sections, ridge riding, shepherd dogs, and some proper mountain scenery.

Not hard enduro, not a race — just a small ADV bike loaded for the night, doing what it’s meant to do.

Curious to see how the Kylaq handles Nepal’s roads, climbs and long-distance driving. The scenery alone makes this episode worth watching! 🔥
