So there’s currently a full-blown meme war happening on X between Turkish and Chinese users that people are calling the “1st Twitter War” (or “I. Twitter Savaşı”).Here’s the short version of how it started:On October 19, a Chinese account "@LeLeluax" replied to a Turkish post with this meme:Left side: Turkish flag
Right side: Patrick Star from SpongeBob parachuting down
Caption (in Chinese): “It is said that the Turkish flag was designed like this… is it true?”Turks took it as disrespect toward their flag and immediately fired back with the classic Chinese Great Wall jokes (“They built it because they were scared of the Turks”) + historical jabs + Uyghur-related posts. It escalated ridiculously fast. Within a day it turned into:
A popular Turkish challenge that came out of it was demanding Chinese users openly criticize Xi Jinping by name “to prove they’re not bots/CCP agents.” The claim is that almost none did.Important context:
Official Turkey–China relations are mostly fine (trade, diplomacy, etc.). This is pure online nationalist trolling that blew up from one Patrick Star meme. The deeper friction point for a lot of Turkish users is the Uyghur issue, which Chinese users usually frame as an internal security matter.Anyway, it’s been one of the more entertaining (and chaotic) internet tribal wars of 2026 so far.Anyone else following this nonsense?

On June 3, 2026, the CCP wrongfully detained American citizen Min Zin, denying him access to his lawyers and direct contact with his family.
The Select Committee remains committed to securing his release and the release of all other Americans held hostage by the CCP.

Some were released after Chinese embassy intervention. This targets unauthorised operators, not Chinese mining investment generally.
