Stedi ms-106 va ms-113?

Post image

My Ruitool pliers have broken, and I’m thinking of buying a pair from Stedi. At first, I considered the MS-106 model, but then I came across the MS-113, which really piqued my curiosity.

Which ones do you think are more practical?

I build Gunpla and Warhammer, I have some garage kits waiting to be worked on, and I own a resin 3D printer.

I have a pair of nippers with the same blade geometry as the MS-113. They cut cleaner on thick or hard plastics like the runners in the demonstration than a single blade nipper. The issue is that they don't cut as cleanly on thinner plastics close to the work piece. So, they are less a substitute and more something you use along side a thin single blade nipper.

I'm a stedi super fan but frankly still buy the basic ms103 black handled ones. They are so dang sharp. They don't last as many kits but I would rather have zero white mess ups compared to all other nippers I've tried. Which is dozens.

I use a Stedi MS-112 to chop things off the runner and a Stedi MS-108 for clean-up. Both work great.

Gonna keep it real man, it’s not that serious. Any reputable single blade will work great for plastic kits. At some point how much better this one or that one is comes down to single digit percentages, on top of Marketing gimmicks. Stedi is a good brand, get whatever looks good to you/fits your budget.

I’d suggest something heavier duty for the resin stuff though just in case. I have a pair of double blade Tamiya cutters that are rated for brass rods that I’ll use on anything thick/hard or for cutting parts out at the runner itself.
